Come celebrate fall at this popular community event! Hosted alongside the final date of the Artisans & Farmers Market, the Fall Harvest Festival will have several fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. In addition to the market, the following attractions are scheduled:

October 25, 26 & 31, 7:30PM-9:30PM Veteran’s Memorial Park at Crosson Mill

Attend the 7th Annual “Haunted Thrill at Crosson Mill!" This haunted house will be open October 25, 26 & 31 from 7:30 PM-9:30 PM each night for $5.00/person. The event is located at Veteran's Memorial Park at Crosson Mill located directly off SR 13. The house will feature several authentic scares that will make Crosson Mill the most haunted park in the area! This event is not recommended for anyone under the age of 12. Hosted with the help of the Wawasee High School Choral Program.

Come join us at the Lakeland Youth Center’s Annual Fall Carnival! Activities include a craft, costume contests and a gymnasium full of games, candy and prizes. This event is free for the community.

Join us for our Free Movie Nights! Movies will be screened in the gymnasium of the Syracuse Community Center. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a free bag of popcorn! Additional concessions will be available to purchase. All movies will start at 6:30PM. Movies titles will be posted on Facebook and the website a month before the event.

Clean out the basement, attic, garage or closet and sign up for one of our indoor garage sales! Cost for one 10’x10’ space is $10.00. Tables are available to rent for $5.00/each or vendors can bring their own. Vendors may only reserve one space each. Spaces for the October sale will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis starting September 4 @ 4 PM while spaces for the March sale will be reserved starting January 8. *Booth is not reserved until paid for at the Syracuse Community Center*

Saturday, November 16, 5:00PM-7:00PM Veteran’s Memorial Park at Crosson Mill Bring in the holiday season with the community at the time-honored tradition of Holiday Magic! The evening will include musical entertainment, free cookies and cocoa, a visit from Santa and the lighting of the Town Christmas Tree.

Saturday, December 7, 8:00AM-11:00AM Syracuse Community Center Santa Claus is coming to town! Join Santa for a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage and refreshments. After breakfast, kids can make a craft, write a letter to Santa or enjoy some cookies and milk while listening to the Wawasee High School Christmas Band. The admission is $3.00 for adults and free for kids.

We have made special arrangements with the North Pole so your child can receive a personalized letter from Santa! Letters can be dropped off to Santa’s Mailbox in the Syracuse Community Center lobby during our open hours starting Monday, November 11. We will also have a letter writing area during Breakfast with Santa on December 7.

Middle School Dances Fridays (see dates below) 7:00PM-9:00PM Gymnasium Admission is $5.00 per student. Concessions will be available. Attendees must remain at the dance until 9:00PM unless a parent or guardian picks them up. Dances are open to all middle school students in the Wawasee School Corporation.

Programs

Beginning Fly Fishing Saturday, September 14, 2019 9:00AM-12:00PM Lakeside Park

This instructional program will teach participants basic casting techniques, line types and various flies. Discover that fly fishing is a great activity for maintaining long-term balance and dexterity as you get older. In other words, both the physical and mental health aspects of fly fishing alone make it worthwhile to undertake. Pick up all these attributes under the guidance of an experienced fly fishing instructor, Charlie Ray. The fee is $15.00 per participant. Equipment will be provided. (Advanced Fly Fishing to follow. Max: 2)

Adult Basketball League Fee: $300/team Game-days: Sunday Opening Date: January 5 Teams may register starting Tuesday, November 5. The complete fee and team rosters must be submitted by Tuesday, December 31. A minimum of 6 teams must sign and a maximum of 10 may participate. Roster forms and league rules will be available to pick up at the Syracuse Community Center or downloaded at www.syracuseparks.org once registration opens. All players must be at least 18 years old and out of high school.

Nutrition Program Monday-Friday (ongoing) 11:00AM-1:00PM Kiwanis Room This program is designed to provide low cost nutritious meals with recreational activities such as; cards, bingo, board games, puzzles, crafts and informational programs in centers located in Kosciusko County. The program promotes better health among older adults through improved nutrition and the pleasure derived from group participation. The suggested donation is $4.25 per meal. Menus can be found in Senior Life, a monthly publication distributed throughout Kosciusko County. For more information or to register for a lunch, contact Carolyn Hapner at 574-457-2631.

Pickleball Monday-Friday (ongoing) 10:00AM-12:00PM Gymnasium Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The sport is played with hard paddles and wiffle balls, making the technique required for pickleball different than other racket sports. Participants of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to give this new, fun and accessible sport a try. Equipment is provided. Reservations for the park pavilions are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations can be made in person at the Syracuse Community Center or via mail. A reservation secures the facility from 8AM-8PM. Full payment in the form of cash, check or credit card is required to hold the date. Facilities are typically available to reserve between mid-May to mid-October. Please call or visit the Community Center to check availability.

Security Deposit will be collected for all rentals in order to reserve the space. Security Deposit will be refunded 30-60 days after event as long as the room is left in good condition.


The fitness room at the Syracuse Community Center features several pieces of commercial equipment including: treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, weight machines and free weights. The room is free for public use, but all users must fill out a registration form prior to exercising.
