Queens Ceramic Studio Princeton University, Spring 2021 Queens, New York Vertical Option Studio with Wonne Ickx Individual project, semester-long In this “canon puzzle,” I collected architectural blocks, bits and pieces you might recognize from renowned architects of traditional cannon. Extracting these blocks, I appropriate and remix elements, reassigning them from their original duties to different ones. Each element corresponds to a different programmatic function inside the building. Some are studio spaces, others are living spaces, assembly halls, etc.

An Archeology of Symbiote Village Princeton University, Spring 2022 Franklin Township, NJ Thesis, advised by Marshall Brown Individual project, semester-long

An Archeology of Symbiote Village is science fiction story told through hand drawings, collage, texts, and physical models. The project culminated in a film, wherein mushrooms must come up with a plan to save humans and the rest of the planet from certain doom.

Synopsis: The Symbiote Village was planned on principles of mutualism between humans, plants, animals, and fungi. In this place, architecture became the synthetic medium that supports all life forms. A community land trust and fungal preserve was managed by the cult, whose primary goal is to enter into a spiritual life-supporting bond with fungi as the next evolutionary step for humans.

Co-Housing Fiction Princeton University, Fall 2020 Princeton, NJ Vertical option studio, instructed by Anda French Individual project, semester-long

This co-housing community lives in the Princeton woods, and within its walls, the inhabitants organize themselves into neighborly clans of Introverts, Extroverts, and Ambiverts. The architecture of the complex shapes itself so that neighbors can interact according to their social alignment.

Inujima Ceramic Art Island Princeton University, Fall 2021 Inujima Island, Japan Vertical Option Studio instructed by Jesse Reiser With Jacqueline Mix, semester-long Our research in physical modeling led us to pursue ceramic as a holistic building material as well as a landform unit. We explored how whole buildings may be fired to become one ceramic piece, and energy from the firing can aid in heating and cooling spaces on the island. Our project centers around the life cycle of these ceramic buildings, from their firing and strategic use of fuel, to the extraction of the clay and the transformation of the terrain through nutrient-rich forestation techniques and mycelial networks.

When it is no longer maintained by people, its rammed earth walls crumble, dispersing native seeds embedded inside.

The granular edge of the lower wall and the “pixel” tiles are inspired by digital rendering techniques used in the early stage of design.

Multi-use Synthesis Texas A&M University, Fall 2018 Dallas, TX Integrated Studio, instructed by Koichiro Aitani With Jasper Gregory, semester-long project This multi-use highrise in downtown Dallas combines luxury retail space, offices, and a nightclub. This project integrates rigorous structural and HVAC design with envelope design based on performance modeling.

Sperone Westwater Redux Princeton University, Spring 2021 Manhattan, New York Architectural Facades, instructed by Sameer Kumar With Piao Liu, semester-long project We were asked to replace the glass facade of the Sperone Westwater Gallery with stone. Maintaining the transparent quality of the original facade, we designed a seven-layer custom carved stone and cable system. From the outside, one can see the elevator directly behind creating moire effects as it moves up and down.
