WHAT IS ZOOXANTHELLAE ?
https://phys.org/news/2013-07-coral-symbiont-genome-decoded.html
Zooxanthellae are photoautotrophs, meaning that they perform photosynthesis using the benefits that the coral provide for them. Corals are able to provide them with carbon dioxide and water of cellular respiration. Once the zooxanthellae perform photosynthesis, they provide the coral with sugars, oxygen, and lipids. This helps the cycle continue and makes the relationship between coral and zooxanthellae symbiotic.

This study presents the growth of Zooxanthellae algae on the coral reefs’ surfaces which are visually created as images to be transferred into a printed textile pattern. The relationship between coral and Zooxanthellae were studied in term of overall forms that build-up around the coral. The shapes were analyzed and develop into various types of design arrangement that suits the overall repeat patterns for printed textiles. The suitability of fabrics and colour coordination was also observed to ensure the overall motif inspired by the combination of Zooxanthellae algae on the coral reefs remained unchanged. Hence, the diversification of design developments from the studies allowed various selections of repeat patterns to be transferred through a digital printing process. Throughout the process of studying and creating the project, researcher was able to make various observations. Digital Printing is the best way to create a design on fabric. From the study, it can be seen that the motif can be easier to place on fabric compared to manual printing such as Batik printing. By using this digital printing, the design pattern looks more clear on the fabric. The result is more high quality. This offers impressive quality and consistency over the other options.
final year project
Zooxanthellae are dinoflagellates that have taken up residence inside a coral polyp’s cells. They have a mutualistic relationship with the coral, using photosynthesis to convert the energy from sunlight into nutrients the coral can use. In exchange, the coral provides protection for the zooxanthellae.

PROJECT 2 : TRYPTICH The project was inspired based on forms derived from the microorganism Zooxanthellae. The results of this project were selected based on motifs and designs inspired and developed using textures and some decorations resulting from the use of several stitches and easily available materials. The designs were made for interior decoration products and to develop new styles of Arts, Crafts and Souls for those who love the colorful retro psychedelic art. The design was also chosen based on digital ideation and manual sketching, motif development, motif development of color ideas and compositions, and color studies. This design was selected for project 2 which is a wall decoration product. The colour of the design is based on the color study of the AW2021/2022 color trend forecasting.
