01 - COLUMBIA PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY Project type: Educational Location: Columbia, MO Year 3 The Focus of my magnet school is providing education in the performing arts in these specific areas: Orchestra, Band, Dance, Theater, Choir, and Winter Guard. Other extra Areas of focus could include Spoken Word, Show Choir, Improv, Jazz ensemble etc. There are a variety of performing arts provided to students and with these selected areas, comes a set of large spaces. The goal of my design is to accommodate all of the large volumes necessary in a way that is organic and balanced. The school is organized to pull the largest Volumes to each end to let them breathe, and keep the plan from being clustered. I also wanted to highlight an outdoor courtyard space that is protected from the noise of the adjacent busy street.

Something that I always tend to focus on when designing a new project is the gesture and movement of the building itself, and how that coreogaphs the experience of the user.

Arcihtecture is the backdrop of all of our lives and I think as a designer it is most important to consider how a person would consciously and subconsciously feel about being in the places that they are in. I felt that it was especially important to design a school that students and faculty would want to be in and go to every day, and reflect the passions that they have.

02 - CABIN IN THE WOODS Project type: Educational Location: Rocheport, MO Year 1

The purpose of this project was to design a live-work cabin for a client of out choosing along a steep, heavily, wooded portion of the Katy Trail in Rocheport, Mo.This project was designed for a pair of architects looking for a modest home that also has a personal studio attached.

Given the conditions of the site, I designed the house to have a conversation with its environment through local material selection and implied movement with the site.

02 - CABIN IN THE WOODS The user’s attention is directed toward the lush natural environment from every section of the house. The glazing frames the views like a picture, with the floor to ceiling curtain walls in the lower sections, and skylights that frame the clouds and stars in the highest section. These direct connections to the outside further open the dialouge between the house and its surroundings.

03 - COLUMBIA MODERN ART MUSEUM Project type: Gallery Location: Columbia, MO Year 3 At the corner of 9th St. and University Ave, this project sits right on the boundary between downtown Columbia and Mizzou’s campus. The goal of this project is to take the juxtaposing context and layer them together; the Form of the building is a visual representation of the two interlocking contexts. The 64’ peaks rise above surrounding buildings and point in opposite directions (North and South) to act as a nod to both the downtown district and university campus, while the middle form is the bridge between the two serving the building’s main source of circulation.

. Each of the 3 sections of the building run parallel to the columns in Francis Quadrangle, a major icon for both the university and the city.

This gallery will serve as a place for community gathering, enrichment, and displaying the artwork of students and residents of Columbia alike.

04 - CATLIN-DUPUY RESIDENCE Project type: Single-Family Location: Columbia, MO Professional practice - 2023 The Catlin-Dupuy Residnce is a sustainable single fmaily home that i have worked on at a local small design firm. I was tasked with preparing all of the drwings and diagrams for this project. as well as work with the principal architect to produce several iterations of design solutions from schematic design to construction documents.

The client wanted spacious 1 story house with 2 primary suites, plenty of gathering space to host get-togethers, and wall space for their books and paintings. This design gives the client plenty of space for their personal and social needs, with high ceilings, spacious rooms, and carefully planned cabinet work.
