Welcome

Hello Brothers and Sisters!

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As the lead pastor of Greater Sydney Conference, it brings me immense joy to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you to our annual church camp. It is truly a blessing to come together in fellowship, worship, and in the beautiful surroundings of nature at Adventist Alpine Village Jindabyne.

This camp is not just a getaway; it's an opportunity for us to deepen our relationship with God, to strengthen our bonds with one another, and to be refreshed and renewed in Spirit. Throughout our time here, we'll engage in various activities, heartfelt discussions, and uplifting worship and sermons, all aimed at drawing closer to God and to one another. It is simply about being in a place where our spiritual temperature will be raised.

I encourage you to approach this camp with open hearts and minds, ready to receive whatever blessings God has in store for us. Let us embrace this time with enthusiasm and gratitude, knowing that it is a precious gift from our Heavenly Father.

As we embark on this journey together, may we be filled with the love of Christ and may His presence be palpable among us. Let's support and uplift one another, and may our time together be a testament to the power of faith and community.

I am eager to see how God will move among us during this camp, and I pray that each of you will leave here with hearts overflowing with His love and grace.

With prayers and anticipation,

Alban Matohiti

Important Information

ANIMALS

No dogs, cats or other pets allowed on site unless they are assistance animals.

CHILD SUPERVISION

Parents are reminded that their responsibility for their children does not cease when they come to camp. While every care is taken and there are activities for children, camp is not a child minding facility. The Conference does not take responsibility for the care of children during camp. Their absolute safety cannot be guaranteed. The ultimate responsibility for the care of children always remains with parents or guardians. Please ensure that the conduct of your children and young people is adequately supervised through the camp period, and that your children are fully under your control between meetings.

CASH OUT

ATMs are not located at the Adventist Alpine Village but can be found in Jindabyne village. Coins will be needed for the onsite laundry facilities.

DEPARTURES

Departures from camp should not be planned during Sabbath hours as a courtesy to other campers, apart from exceptional circumstances.

Dress and Language

Please observe a modest standard of dress and deportment. Loud and offensive language is not accepted or tolerated.

DRUG-FREE ZONE

The camp ground is designated an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free environment. Alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs are NOT to be brought onto the Camp Ground. Offending people and their entire campsite will forfeit their rights to be on the grounds for the duration of camp.

FEEDBACK

We want to hear what you have to say. The feedback form will be available starting this Thursday (25 April 2025). Please make sure to fill it out with your comments or suggestions. The survey will be open for one week from Thursday. Keep an eye out for the link on the bit.ly/ gscbigcamp and let your voice be heard!

There is a camp curfew for all campers at 11:00pm. This means that there will be a quiet-down period from 10:00pm, and that all campers should be in their accommodation and no noise between 11:00pm and 6:00am. Please have Christian consideration for others.

NOISE LEVELS

Noise levels are not to disturb other campers.

Car parking in designated car parks only. Only road-registered motorbikes can be ridden on the campground within the speed limit of 10km/h and keeping noise to a minimum.

PHOTOGRAPHY AT BIG CAMP

Most people taking photos of children at Big Camp are doing so for acceptable reasons and using appropriate methods. However, it is worth noting that many photographs taken in public places will include subjects who have not consented to their photo being taken. In Australia, generally speaking, there is no law restricting photography of people (including children) in public spaces as long as the images are;

• Not considered indecent

• Not being used for voyeurism

• Not being used for commercial purposes without a Model Release/ Consent.

However, where an event is held on private property, such as Adventist Alpine Village, the owners of the private property are able to restrict or ban photography. Understanding this, the Greater Sydney Conference requests that you adhere to the following guidelines when it comes to photography at Big Camp: Authorised photographers under the Communications Team have been employed to take photographs at Big Camp.

They will be wearing a staff lanyard or hi-vis vest. If you do not wish your child to be photographed by the photographer for any reason, please contact the Camp Office and identify the children.

If you are taking photographs that

include minors, please endeavour to restrict the images to those children that are related, or known, to you. Due to child protection issues, photos of children at camp, other than those that are directly related to you, should not be posted onto the internet, social networking sites or any other form of electronic carriage service.

PROPERTY

Vandalism of any kind, including interfering with camp property, fences or notices, will result in prosecution and/or request to leave the grounds.

PUSHBIKES, SKATE BOARDS, ROLLER SKATES, ROLLER BLADES, OR SCOOTERS

For the safety of all, we request that you do not use these on the grounds.

SECURITY

Security guards will be on the grounds 24 hours per day. Even with security in place we cannot guarantee the safety of valuables left unattended in your tents, caravans, etc. Camp Administration cannot be held responsible for the loss of your valuables. It is required that campers will respect and comply with instructions from security personnel.

SHOWERS

Remember that others are often waiting to use the showers, so please be efficient and considerate.

LAUNDRY

There are three (3) laundry facilities located onsite. One is designated for the chalets, one for the dorms, and one for the tent sites. Coins are required to operate the self-service machines. To protect the eviroment and the propety of other guests, please refrain from using bleach products.

on the grounds. Hazad lights must be used after dark.

TOILET BLOCK CLEANING

Please remember that the cleaners are working hard to keep the amenities blocks well-stocked and in great shape with large numbers of people on site. Affirmation is encouraged and appreciated.

If you have any concerns, please report these to the AAV Office on 02 6456 2738. Cleaning times can be reduced considerably if campers can remain outside the amenities, or use alternative amenities, while they are being cleaned.

TREES

For safety reasons, please refrain from hanging any ropes, swings, washing lines or hammocks in trees. Adventist Alpine Village invest time and energy in maintaining their grounds, so please respect the environment in which you are camping.

RUBBISH /WASTE

Always carry designated waste containers such as garbage bags, recycling bags, and compost bins. Deposit your waste in the appropriate receptacles.

If not in your immediate vicinity, place your waste containers in a convenient and accessible location within your campsite to encourage proper disposal when convenient. What you bring in, you take out.

YOUTH

Empowered to Go: Reaching People, Serving Them and Sharing Jesus

Picture a young person who has gotten into a serious car accident and been admitted to hospital with several broken bones. Amidst all the surgeries they go through and the painful nights in hospital they slowly regain the use of their limbs and then 5 weeks later they get a visit from the local conference Youth Director to encourage them. Prior to the accident they felt the call to ministry, either at home or a foreign mission field and he stops by to let them know they have been prayed for by the wider church family.

As they walk in the room and say their name, David, the person in the bed looks up and says who?

David, its me your pastor, and I have come to visit you.

Pastor, what’s a pastor? Who are you?

Its me David, I have just come to let you know that every one in church has been praying for you!

Church? What church? What are you on about?

Sadly this young person suffered

a loss of memory and whilst the story is fictional it illustrates a point. A person that doesn’t know what their name is, who they are, who the church is or what a pastor is is ill equipped to be go into the world to share about Jesus. They need to be empowered, enabled and equipped. Without a sense of their identity and purpose, its little use to tell them to go on a mission.

Understanding where we come from, knowing why we are here and knowing where we are going are three of the most important questions that we will ever be asked or ask of ourselves. The past, present and future are all interconnected. Our identity, our purpose and our mission are all related to each other and ultimately we only find true meaning when all these of these elements are rooted and centred in Jesus.

Big Camp 2025 Youth & Young Adult Tent speaker, Pr Adam Ramdin is currently serves as the Youth Director for the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (SEC).

Big Camp 2025 Offering

2025 EVANGELISM PROJECTS OFFERING

Plant the seed. Fuel the mission. Watch God work.

Last year, your generosity at Big Camp made a real difference. Because of your gifts, we rolled out the brand-new Food to Flourish Wellness Food Truck—bringing healthy meals and hope to communities across our region. Your support also helped fund evangelistic campaigns in this year of harvest at 25 local churches, each a testimony to what happens when God’s people come together with purpose. This year, it’s time to go further.

We’re turning our focus outward—toward our extended family in the Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, and American Samoa. These mission fields (Greater Sydney Conference mission partners) are rich with potential, and our local pastors and lay leaders are ready to share God’s love in powerful ways by supporting evangelism campaigns. But they need backup.

When you give today, you’re not just donating—you’re stepping into the story. You’re equipping evangelists, supporting on-theground outreach, and helping light up hearts for Christ across the Pacific.

Let’s not miss this moment. Let’s give boldly. Let’s move mission forward.

Every dollar is a seed. Every gift helps us share the Gospel. Give online via the offering or via eGiving.
