PORTFOLIO INTERIOR DESIGN

my mission

Humans are created to be resilient, constantly evolving and changing as the world develops. The places we spend time in inherently grow with us.

As places are designed, the people give these spaces life. While a place may be defined by what is in it, what gives it meaning is the people and the culture.

Involving the community and the culture into design challenges us as designers to integrate what we learn about our clients with our knowledge of design.

Designing FOR a client is not good enough. We must choose to design WITH the client. By developing a unique solution with each client that incorporates their community and culture, we can create places for people to laugh, play, and work as they grow and evolve through life.

LGBTQ+ youth center in multi-use complex

SOLUTION

revit develop a master plan for a non-profit supportive housing and public services complex in Indianapolis, IN. create a detailed design for the construction of one component. design a supportive housing center for LGBTQ youth that provides a space for residents to grow individually and as a community using biophillic design

Trees provide us with oxygen. They provide us a place to sit in the shade. Trees provide birds a place to settle their nests. They give a home to insects and other animals. As trees grow, they continue to aid us in our own growth as well.

-phil- is creating their first project based in the United States, and has tasked us with designing their 5 business occupants. I have chosen to create the designs for the LGBTQ+ Youth Housing Center, HomeGrown. Their design philosophy hones the idea of growth and the ability to better the well-being of the each individual, and hope to do this with each of their spaces.

This space, like a tree, gives all who enter a place to call home, and aids in the ability to grow.
