Final year Portfolio Semester (07) Uitm Kota Samarahan (Pandemic Dwelling)

Dwelling is a place where we all spent most of our times while experiencing the architecture, connecting to it through emotions and often being a place that we called ‘home sweet home’. However, as the pandemic Covid-19 strikes, it has resulted in a physical distancing implementation and peoples are restricted to stay at home. This gives a great economic impact especially to the SME (small to medium enterprise). For those who are working from home, this leads to inefficient outcome due to inconducive ‘office space’. The people were also missing the sight of greenery and being restricted from social activities . Based on studies, this situation contributes to a negative impact on mental health and wellbeing. Therefore, a housing community with economic, social and health activities which comply

to

the

pandemic

restrictions

should

be

provided.

GROUP TASK: CONNECTIVITY REFORMATION The group main theme is connectivity reformation in which focusing on reigniting and nurturing culture of communal living that has long been practised by the native people tanah melayu and borneo people into urban and high rise residential context. The culture can be seen through simple yet affective system such as the longhouse community and traditional malay house community where both are lead by tuai rumah and ketua kampung respectively. Both shows a strong sense of community through activities n daily basis.

PROJECT 2 : PANDEMIC DWELLING RECONVENE JALAN BAN HOCK IS KNOWN FOR THE POPULARITY OF BEING ONE OF THE CROWDED PLACE IN SARAWAK. IT IS ALSO A LOCAL PLACE IN WHICH HAS DIVERSITY OF GROUPS AND RACES IN SARAWAK IN WHICH SARAWAK IS KNOWN FOR ITS MULTICULTURAL DIVERSITY. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC THT HAS AFFECTED THE GLOBAL, A QUARANTINE PROCEDURE AND STEPS HAS TO BE TAKEN TO MINIMISE THE RATE OF INFECTION IN CERTAIN AREAS INCLUDING JALAN BAN HOCK ITSELF. THE AREA WHICH IS FULL OF LOCALS AND PEOPLE HAS NOW EEEN SO QUIET LATELY DUE TO THE PANDEMIC AND THE SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AND ALSO CONNECTIVITY IN BETWEEN COMMUNITY WAS SLOWLY DIMNISHED. HENCE, WE ARE REQUIRED TO DESIGN A SUSTAINABLE RESIDENTIAL ACCOMODATION FOR THE B40 GROUPS TO IMPLEMENT THE STANDARD OF PROCEDURE OF THE CURRENT PANDEMIC INTO THE RESIDENTIAL. THIS PROJECT ALSO IMPORTANCE ON THE EFFICIENCY, SUSTAINABLE AND ALSO MINIMIZE THE NEGATIVE OF THE PANDEMIC INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. DZULSYAHMIE BSC.07
