What were the constraints you faced at the time of inception? How did you manage that?

Karan’s journey from a small city boy to becoming a successful entrepreneur with branches all over the country makes a great success story. However, there were many challenges he faced and is still facing while expanding his business. He says, “The main challenge was not only to beat products pricing but its’ more important to maintain products quality and company USP. It always does matter to maintain and satisfy customer time to time and learn with complains and gifts but to deliver a product of high quality. Fulfilment of customer expectation is the lion’s share for business.”

After a year of going into business, R4U India Fashion faced a tragedy when Karan Singh was facing financial crunch back-to-back. It was all around the period of demonetisation where unfortunately the factory caught in a burnout. It was a tough time. But soon after that we restarted and introduced new model in the company. But Alas! That too didn’t work well.

During lockdown 5 franchise outlets and 2 company owned factory with 2 company offices based in Noida, Delhi was shut down. This was a very heart wrenching phase for Karan.

But after few months of lockdown the company restarted its business model. The team supported enthusiastically to re-launch its brand R4U Franchise Retails Stores across all Over India. Karan turned this tragedy into an opportunity and took the business online. Karan planned to merge online stores + franchise stores delivery service of the products to different parts of the country.

What are your services. How do you

manage to work in different areas?

The importance of customer satisfaction, one of the most important things in any of the businesses. Which is why R4U set up a client service for the customer.

There are experts for managing different services such as quality of the product to supply chain. We do offer a variety of fashion products range that customers can buy. Purchase can also be done by visiting our stores online. It is available through Ecommerce and other social media or via call/WhatsApp.

Tell us about your journey. How did you come up with this idea?

He took the right path, focused on every segment of the business and successfully performed every task. He employed reputable suppliers for the product, created a storage capacity unit for backup and ensured that the products reached the supply Franchise Outlet location on time. About CEO - Antony Joseph started his career as a Software Engineer with Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt Ltd and after working with the company for 4 years in India and the US, he decided to start his own venture. Through some friends, he came to know about the large thriving knitwear industry in Tirupur in his home-state of Tamil Nadu. After doing some research about the knitwear Industry in Tirupur, he was surprised to find out that the city was the Top Export hub in the country and was bringing in huge foreign exchange revenue. As he stayed in the NIT Trichy campus and having seen the college purchase good volume of t shirts for their college festivals, he participated in a tender for their cultural and won the deal the same year. CEO What experience has most influenced your career choice?

This Gold Jewellery manufacturing industry is very close to my heart as my father’s and our entire family’s main profession is gold ornaments manufacturing. This is how I grew up among the karigars or goldsmiths. As I have been raised within this atmosphere I never thought to choose another profession except this Gold Jewellery Designing & Manufacturing. I have seen my father and uncle creating the beautiful ornaments everyday by their own skills and excellence and this thing made me very much influenced to choose this profession as my career.

Were there any constraints you faced while starting with your company?

It's a fact that I belong to a family where Gold Ornaments manufacturing was the principal profession, despite that we have struggled like a Daily labour. This one thing really did hurt me extremely. In 2016 when I left our family business and started my own business in Pune City. I faced the toughest time due to demonetisation, GST and at the same time many from my family business stopped providing job work to me & my business partner left the business and withdrew all his investments. accident happened with me, as one of my karigar stole approximately 300 grams of Gold.

This was the incident where I was completely broken down, at one point I decided to send my family back to my home in Bengal because all the assets I had were literally becoming null and also debt increased to its ever highest level.

During this period once I asked myself to choose one of the two options, first one was “Under our Family Business” while the second was “as at that time I had nothing to lose so I needed to stay at any cost and try to bounce back” & I decided to go with the second option.

With a ray of hope, I started with 10 Goldsmith and within 2-3 months 2 office staff joined me and the number of goldsmith became 30. Later I gave a name to this journey as my brand “Zaiken Antique Jewellery”.

Today my organisation is fully equipped to face any 22

challenges in this market. Now I am very much excited that every day I can see the development with my organisation.

What is your favourite material to work with?

I always prefer Gold and silver.

What qualities do you look for in the perfect piece of jewellery?

We strive to provide the best quality material to all our customers. While looking for the quality we do consider the following things.  No Mass Production Machinery Involved: By definition, handmade jewellery is literally just that, made by the “hands” of the artisan or maker. soldered, sawed, carved and shaped without the use of mass produced manufacturing machinery. A machine can crank out hundreds of units per hour while an individual can only make a finite quantity or fraction of the number of pieces in the same amount of time.  The Value of Time: As previously mentioned, since there are no machines involved, handmade jewellery takes an incredible amount of time to produce just a single piece. As a designer myself, I know I often spend hours designing a single piece of jewellery for a client. The time to make the piece often can take weeks.  The Maker’s Process: The maker has a very intimate relationship with each piece or designs they create. The design process is key to the value that is inherent in each piece. Emilie Shapiro talks about her process and says, “While creating jewellery, there is a very intimate relationship with my work. I know every curve and line (is) put there with intention. As a maker your energy goes into the piece.”  Materials: In almost every case, the value of the materials involved in a handmade piece is of stellar quality. It’s difficult to regulate or even know exactly what alloys are used in mass produced factories where dirty metals are blended together to create costume pieces.

Handmade materials are generally sourced from highly reputable suppliers.  Sustainability: Jewellery Makers are often dedicated to sustainability and ethically sourced materials. By nature, being ethical can be much more costly than taking the easy route and purchasing from the refiner or dealer with low prices and shady sourcing. Once again, Emilie Shapiro always uses the highest quality materials sourced from suppliers who share her ethos about sustainability whenever possible.  Quality: Smaller scale production is almost always higher quality because the ability to track and control the process from start to finish is inherent in the making process. Makers and artisans are extremely proud of the work they produce. They aren’t going to let something of inferior quality leave their studio with their name on it.  Locally Made with Love: There is a lot of buzz with MARCH 2021

How would you describe the pace of work at your company?

I am able to adapt to any workplace.

I try to maintain a fast pace during my work to remain focused while completing my tasks. I strive to be efficient and strive to ensure all work is completed properly and without error. I work well on my own but am more than happy to work with others for collaborations or team-based projects. I take my position seriously and am completely dedicated and driven to succeed.

Tell us about your products and services.

The quality product comes first.

When you are able to provide a consistently high quality product, you are providing the customer with the most important aspect of customer service, a superior product experience.

Customer service is the most important aspect of sales. Without friendly, knowledgeable service, no product can sell itself. I'm more focused 24

on selling solutions in whatever form that takes, rather than products or services.

I believe that you are not helping your customers by selling an inferior product. Rather I make sure that the products that I do represent, all are of a high quality and good value, which gives me the confidence that I am providing my customers with the best possible customer service.

Keeping in mind all the above mentioned significant aspects now we manufacture all kind of collection of ornaments, like - Indian Traditional Ornaments, Western, Nakshi - Fully Handcrafted jewellery, Fine Arts jewellery, Arabian jewellery, Diamond jewellery and Hybride Generation jewellery.

What are your strategies to reach new industries and new customers?

We try to reach to as many as we can. How do you evaluate success as a jewellery supplier?

Success, for me, is always about making a difference in other people’s lives. If at the end of the day, my work helps to derive customer satisfaction coupled with my learning experience, It also means sharing those experiences with the team members in order to inspire them as well. Then I sleep well at night and wake up afresh with a new vigour to take on life’s challenges. In this jewellery industry, punctuality and discipline is utmost important.

The fact that I have contributed in a significant way to meet the challenges in a dream project by adhering to strict deadlines and quality standards is perfect success to me. I wish to remain hungry for such success always.

Tell us about your upcoming ventures.

At present I am handling Zaiken Antique Jewellery only and very soon we will be coming with a new brand “Silverempress” which will be more revolutionary. Silverempress will challenge the existing market because it will work only for our customer. It will be based on an End-to-End Business policy. Customers can buy or customise directly as they want at the time of making the jewellery through our E-Customisation facility. We are very excited to launch our new project and to surrender it to our customers.

Our Present slogan is “The Art of Design” and next will be “Lets impress the World” Because now our customer will decorate their own ornaments to beautify themselves and we will make it turn in reality.
