SOUTUJÄRVIBYGDEN
The easily accessible Soutujärvibygden, along the E10 road, consists of the three villages; Puoltikasvaara, Skaulo and Moskojärvi. Together they organise cosy activities all year round. Do not miss the Christmas market at Kyrkbacken at the end of November each year, or ”Kaamosfirandet” in January when we celebrate the darkest part of the winter with songs and shows. Soutujärvibygden is also home to several dog sledding activity companies such as Lappeasuando, Avvakko Adventure and Snowtrail Dogcamp Lodge. If you like fishing, why not visit the Kaitum river resort which offers accommodation in traditional, wooden Sámi dwellings. www.soutujarvi.se

Purnuvaara is a sunny little village at the foot of the Jerttaberget hill — The perfect starting point for all your winter activities. Ullatti is situated between the hill Särkivaara and the river Ängesån, about 60 kilometres east of Gällivare. The village has a petrol station with a little shop. The village community centre is a gathering place for both residents and visitors. It also serves as a hostel, museum and café. www.ullatti.se

Hakkas can be found approximately 50 kilometers from the town of Gällivare, south along road E10. Through collaboration and a strong community, a delightful district has been designed with activities all year round. You can stay in the old school, which today is a community homestead. If you are lucky, you may wake up to the smell of fresh stone oven baked bread. In March, the ‘Trekantsloppet’ annual ski race takes place — a cross-country race that goes between the villages of Hakkas, Sammakko and Ullatti.
