Useful Information Course Fees/Concessions: The Government, through the Education Funding Agency and the Skills Funding Agency, makes funding available for some learners to cover the tuition costs of their programme (for example, those in receipt of certain benefits). The Secretary of State does not expect tuition fees to be charged to full-time or part-time 16-18 year old students on courses marked with an * in this Course Guide). Full details on eligibility can be found at www.education.gov.uk or at www.skillsfundingagency.bis.gov.uk or contact the College’s Learner Services. Concessions may be available on courses marked with a R in this Guide. If you qualify for tuition fee remission, a copy of the evidence showing that you fall within the approved remission categories must be obtained and attached to your learning agreement in order that the appropriate tuition fee remission may be claimed by us from the relevant agency. There may still be examination and/or material fees to pay - these are NOT subject to a reduction. Please contact Learner Services for further details or if you have any queries. Anyone applying for a full-time or part-time course and who will be in receipt of funding must supply one of the following forms of ID: Relationship with school, Passport, Driving Licence, ID Card or other form of national identification, National Insurance card, Certificate of Entitlement to Funding, Bank/Credit/Debit card. Information and a Refund Application Form can be obtained from Learner Services. Additional Fees (marked E, R or C in this Course Guide): Some examination and certification fees have been included in the prices listed and must be paid when enrolling, however exam fees on some courses are extra and are payable when entering or registering for an exam. For further information the College Examination Officers can be contacted at Evesham on (01386) 712604 or at Malvern on (01684) 584552. Materials and Equipment (marked M in this Course Guide): Some courses require the use of specialist materials or equipment which may incur additional costs. You will be advised of this when you enrol or you can refer to the course information leaflet to confirm these details. Students are advised not to purchase additional items until they are sure that the class will be running. Attendance and Withdrawals: Course subsidies to the College are withdrawn if a student fails to attend. The College will assume you have left a course if you fail to attend for 4 consecutive weeks. At that point your place may be allocated to another student. If you know you may be absent but wish to continue your attendance at a later date, or if you wish to leave your course, please inform the Course Tutor in writing. Course Cancellations: Minimum student numbers are required for courses to run. The College reserves the right to cancel or combine a course due to insufficient recruitment and will aim to give a minimum of 3 days' notice. Students may be offered the opportunity to transfer to a similar course which may be at a different time or day, or request a refund. The College very much regrets having to cancel courses at short notice - please help us to avoid this by enrolling no later than 7 days before the start of your chosen course. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Improving your English can help you get more out of your life in the UK. If English is not your main language, you can do a course to help you improve your English. Please call us on (01386) 712601 for the Evesham Campus or (01684) 565351 for the Malvern Campus. (See page 26 for course details.)

Meet ESOL student Andreea Anca Oprea “When I first came to the UK I couldn’t speak much English. I worked on a farm and didn’t have much opportunity to improve my English.

Level 2. I finished the course and now I am progressing to Hairdressing Level 3. In the future I would like to open my own business.

I enrolled on an ESOL course because of my daughter. I wanted to speak proper English. I enjoyed the classes and met many friendly people. I found out about other courses offered in the College. I wanted to do something that would give me the opportunity to start a new career.

I would never be able to start Hairdressing if it wasn’t for my ESOL course. It helped me to improve my English and motivated me to do a different course. I was worried because I didn’t know if I would cope with the course but my teachers on both courses were very supportive. My confidence improved and I know that I can do more for my future.”

After completing the ESOL course I decided to start Hairdressing
