FOR TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONS AND OFFICIALS WHO HAVE REPRESENTED THEIR COUNTRY IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
It is with a certain amount of pride and relief when I look back on the World lndividual Championships which were held in Zagreb from the 21st - 27th May,2007. Pride that the Swaythling CIub lnternational has gone from strength to strength during the past forty years.
Relief that all the planned organised events for our members were well attended and enjoyed.
The Anniversary Reception held in the Pavilion Restaurant on Tuesday 22nd May in Zagreb, was high in attendance and Hans Wilhelm Gäb's opening speech on our behalf was a great beginning to a memorable evening, Ieaving a long lasting feeling of togetherness and well-being.
Without the first class advice and assistance from the Croatian TTA and in particular from Macan Hudetz our S.C.l. Representaiive for Croatia and one of the main figures in the championship organisation, our task would have been that much harder!
Special thanks must also go to our Director of Sponsorship and AdvertisinB, Mr. Tim Boggan, for his efforts in obtaining sponsorship for our reception in Zagreb.
We hope you enjoy this special edition - in particular those members who were unable to attend - with all it's photos of our Founder Members, our past President Joe Veselsky and of our many members.
A full report of our A.C.M. will be included as usual for those not in attendance.
Take great care!
DIANE SCHÖLER President S.C./.

5. TREASURER'S REPORT 2005/2006
The Treasurer commented on the financial outcome of the years 2005 and 2006.
Subcriptions: The subscriptions are fairly well paid on time, but it was pointed out that a considerable number of countries never respond to the Treasurer's invoices or reminders, even though the SCI provide assistance to members who have health or financiäl pro-

blems. An increasing numberof members have taken advantage of the one year rebate when paying the membership fee altogether for 5 years.
Assistance and Support: The Treasurer stated that the SCI is always anxious to help as many members as possible to get free accommodation on the occasion of international Table Tennis events.
During this fiscal period the SCI has been able to provide financial help to a number of Swaythling Club friends.
Profitand Loss Statemen: A consolidated profit of CHF 37,583.06 was achieved during the 2 years fiscal period. By far the highest ever achieved profit. A substantial contribution to this profit comes from the World Veterans Championships held in Bremen 2006. The Treasurer further stated that on the other hand we have to realise, and to be aware of the fact that the overall cost of the Swaythling Club International due to its commitments such as printing costs for the booklet, our twice yearly published SCI Magazine and donations to members exceed the income of the Membership Fees. Mr. Schnyder said that thanks to the generous contributions of our Sponsors, Butterfly and Tibhar, they were able to improve the result.
Current Assets: The fortune of the Swaythling Club lnternational rose from CHF 207,480,45 to CHF 255,063.51. - With this very comfortable amount Mr. Schnyder was confident to ensure all future activities and responsibilities towards members and f riends.
VWC - This event, organised under the responsibility of SCI has become an extremely important and popular championship. Not only from a sporting point of view, but also a financial topic to secure, covering all the necessary expenditures such as future Presentations for WVC organisers, office overheads, WVC Committee meetings and when necessary, travel expenses.
The Treasurer informed members of the next WVC championships to be held in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil in 2008 and was sure this will be a spectacular and well organised tournament.
Outlook 2(0/0/7n(0/0ß - The Treasurer said that with a good number of participants at the WVC Championships in Brazil and an improved income of the Membership Fees, the SCI is sure to present a positive financial result at the end of the next fiscal period in 2008.
It was stated by the Treasurer that he was at the disposal for any further questions members might have and wanted to close his report with many thanks to his colleagues of the Executive Committee and expressed his sincere and special gratitude to the President, Diane Schöler, for doing such a great job.
Mr. Werner Schnyder thanked the Assembly for their attention.
a) Adoption of Report
The Report was agreed and adopted.
SWAYTHLI NG CLUB I NTERNATIONAL
It is also very helpful to have e-mail addresses and communication is now used a lot through the internet.
Some booklets have been sent to Representatives and the rest he was distributing in Zagreb. Laszlo brought a large picture showing some of the pages of the new SCI booklet which he will be giving to the Museum.
WVC Director - Mr. Hans Westling
Hans gave a short resume on the WVC 2006 in Bremen. He stated that they had the largest entry ever, 3,700 participants from all over the world. 159 tables were used. The Cermans produced an excellent event with some top players in the over 40's competing, such as Alan Cook of England, Zoran Kalinic, Serbia and Mikael Applegren of Sweden. He also mentioned that one of our SCI members present won the singles and doubles over 40, Branka Batinic of Croatia.
He informed the Members of the next WVC 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil one of the most attractive cities in the world with very good playing conditions.
The 2010 Presentations were held the day before with a very high quality of bids from all candidates. The winner was lnner Mongoli, China in the city of Hohhot. lt was further stated, because the bids were of such high quality, an option was given to Sweden for2A12 in Stockholm.
Sponsorship and Advertising - Mr.T. Boggen
Tim informed the Assembly that he had managed to raise 2,500 US Dollar to sponsor our 40th Anniversary Reception.
This was well received and Diane thanked Tim for his much appreciated efforts to raise this amount of money.
Public Relations - Mr. M. Orlowski
Mr. Orlowski was unable to be in attendance inZagreb.
9. APPOINTMENT OF AUDITORS
Mr. Laszlo Pal and Mrs. Trix Luterbacher have agreed to continue to be our Auditors for the next two years.
10. ADOPTION OF BUDCET FOR NEXTTWOYEARS
lncome for 200712008 SCI & WVC 51,500.00 CHF. Expenses SCI & WVC 43.000.00 CHF, which gives a profit of 8.500.00 CHF.
SWAYTHLING GLUB INTERNATIONAL
11. MOTIONS FOR ANY AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES
a) Motion to "make an audited Balance Sheet only every two years".
(Mr. W. Schnyder)
Mr. Schnyder requested that although we have an AGM every year we have a financial fiscal of 2 years. He wished to keep this period, as to do this every year would entail more work, as well as costs for Auditors.
This motion was unanimously agreed.
b) Motion to "discontinue special membership rate for over 65's"
(Mr. W. Schnyder)
The normal fee for members is 20 CHF for over 65's 10 CHF and the Treasurer stated that it was very difficult to determine who had reached this age. A good percentage of our members are already over 65 and this would in the long run cut our income quite considerably. The Treasurer asked the Assembly to vote to discontinue this special over 65 rate.
The Assembly accepted this unanimously.
c) Olympic Champions to be included in the SCI Membership Regulations. (This was agreed upon at the ACM in Bremen and taken as accepted.)
The President reminded the members that in Bremen the Assembly had a long discussion whether to accept Olympic winners, which was then agreed upon. This will officially be put into our Constitution.
d) Oyvind Eriksen informed the Assembly of today's situation and process200712009 for lnternational Paralympic Table Tennis Champions, with a view to becoming SCI members.
Mr. Oivind Eriksen, President of the IPTTC and Mr. Nico Verspeelt Vice President of the IPTTC, explained to the Assembly with the help of a projector showing pictures of their athletes and the details of their organisation. Oivind explained that they are to become part of the ITTF and therefore one table tennis family. His aim is to eventually have table tennis players accepted into the SCl.
The President thanked Oivind Eriksen and asked him to put down on paper a concept, as to how this can be achieved, to enable them to accept IPTTC as SCI members.
12. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Joe Veselsky said a few words and amused the Assembly with a few jokes about himself. He also said he conceitedly thought that when he ceased to be President that would be the end of the SCl, however it grew and grew!!
SWAYTHLING CLUB INTERNATIONAL
He thanked the President and Committee on behalf of everybody for making the Club so successful.
a) The President informed the Assembly that National Representatives should contact Laszlo Földy here in Zagreb to pick up the new booklet for their members.
b) The President outlined to members the arrangements for the 40th Anniversary Reception to be held later that evening.
Meeting was closed 15.45 hrs.

s. a 4oth ANNIVERSARY
It had been my very special wish that Suzie Barna would be able to attend our Anniversary day.
Unfortunately, Suzie was not feeling well enough to make the journey from London - but sent her apologies and congratulations to all those members in attendance.
SWAYTHLI NG CLUB INTERNATIONAL
As you can see - the Restaurant was a delight - obtaining the right atmosphere for a perfect evening. There is no better way to open such an occasion than to have one of our members as guest speaker - to which Hans Wilhelm Cäb upon my request, so graciously accepted.
Hans opened our 40th .f ubilee Reception as follows: (excerpts)
"l doubt very much that I really have a legitimate right to speak to you here today. I know that I have been an SCI member for many decades, but unfortunately I have always been a rather passive player in our club, always concentrating on my professional work and the German Table Tennis Federation.
ln1967, great personalities of our sport founded the S.C.l., the 40th Anniversarywe are now celebrating. We are very pleased that some of those founder members are with us today. We are delighted and grateful to welcome today our Honorary President JoeVeselsky from Ireland; Michael Thornhill from England; Laszlo Földy from Switzerland and representing our unforgettable Treasurer Hugo Urchetti, we warmly welcome his wife Marie-Jean.
Johnny Leach, our Deputy President would liked to have come, but his health did not allow that to be possible, so he sends his warmest regards to everyone.
SWAYTHLING CLUB INTERNATIONAL
I know of no other international organisation in other sports that has set such goals of solidarity and friendship.
We thank the sponsors and table tennis manufacturers who have supported our ideals.
We thank the Organizing Committees of the World and European Championships and today our friends from Croatia who have shown their generous hospitality to us and many former great players for a number of years.
Above all, we thank today our founders and the numerous sportsmen among us, who over the course of many years and decades have given their time and energy for our common goals.
They have contributed to maintaining the spirit of our sport, to our becoming a member of the Olympic family and to the continued respect of the values of fairness and solidarity.
We thank them for their contribution. Please let me conclude with a final and simple truth:
Table Tennis continues to be the best and most beautiful sport in the world.
Special thanks goes to Macan Hudetz for all his assistance in organising our jubilee reception.

APOLOGI§E
ln our last edition No.82 in the "ln Memoriam" for Mr. Laszlo Bellak (Hun) this contained an error:
Second Paragraph - Second Line: We have used the word "irresponsible" - instead of "responsible".
At the same time please note that Mr. Hikosuke Tamasu was made an Honorary Member in 1988, and not in 1998 as stated in our previous edition.
We would like to apologise that due to a computer failure we have lost several of our articles and photos that had been sent to us for this issue of the S.C.l. News.
