Some Year 7-11 pupils were given the opportunity to tour the site and this is what they think so far‌.

Asked if they were excited about the new build….

I am excited because our old school is very old and messy

Yes, because it is going to be a nice space and the classrooms are going to be bigger

I am excited because it is going to be a new education

Yes, because there will be a good use of space and a good environment to learn in

Yes, it will be a new experience

Yes, I am excited about it because I have never been in a new school.

It will be nice to be using new classrooms and to have a new school building

Yes, because I know how awful the old school was and it will be a proud moment when the new school opens so we can say ‘yes, this is our school!’

Yes, I am excited about the build, it’s just a shame that I won’t be here to experience it. It will be amazing for the community!

Yes, because we deserve it and it is exciting that we will be one of the first to step inside the building the first year it opens

A little bit because I won’t be here when it’s finished so I won’t get to experience the new building but all the other pupils will love it

Yes, because it will be a nice new building, not like the old one, so I’m excited for a new one

Yes, I am excited because we will have better ICT equipment

This is what they think are going to be the best features‌.

We are going to have more space and lockers and more toilets

The classrooms will be bigger and warmer.

The corridors are wider. There will be breakout areas

I think the best features are warmer corridors and bigger classrooms

I think that everything will compensate for things that have been missed out on in the past

Good use of space compared to the old building

I think the best features of the new build will be the new reception area because it will provide more space

The first impression, the eco items in and outside the building, brand new classrooms, kitchens, ICT equipment etc It will be nice to look at for everyone

The new chairs, tables and equipment

This is what they think are going to be the best features….

The new glass outside because the old school is all plastic

The big changes will definitely improve our education

The fact that all the corridors will be wider so we can move around easier

I think the best feature of the new build will be the outside. It’s good to get a good first impression

I think the best feature will be the new extended bit as there will be more space and the glass will give more light. Also, when it is raining we can go outside without getting wet because of the canopy

I think the classrooms because they won’t leak in the winter and it will be nice to work in a good school

The pupils should have another opportunity to walk round the site in a couple of months, when they should see big changes, this is what they think of the building so far….

The design is very nice The infrainfra-structure of the building is amazing so far

I think the building is starting to look like what it will when it is finished It’s coming on well

I think the building has been built really fast so far Nice and the style of the building is good It is better than the old one by far I think the building is coming along very well and there is plenty of space It doesn’t look much but the shape of the building is coming on well and it will look great It’s all coming together well and it is starting to take shape The old building has rain coming through the windows and we all can’t wait to have a school that looks good and we can be proud of it

Most people are excited about it

I think everyone is looking forward to the new build and it will be well appreciated

Everyone is excited but I won’t be here to experience it

I think everyone thinks that the school definitely needs refurbishing

Everyone is asking what is happening and how it’s going so far

I think it will look great when it is finished because the old building was very old

When asked what difference they think the new build will make to pupils when the school moves in, this is what they said‌.

They’ll have the shock of their life!

I think the building will impact pupils positively. It will probably improve attendance, therefore improving exam results

I think they will have a better education and a warmer school We will be able to learn better in nice facilities

It will make people want to go into the new building

I think pupils will be optimistic about coming into the school with new facilities, classrooms and equipment It will make a big impact because education will change for the better in the new building

It will make a huge difference. It will be a great experience for all pupils

I think it will make a big difference because there will be more space for everybody to fit it

It might change their attitude towards the school because of what it offers There will be much much better end of year results and a much more positive attendance I think it will be easier for pupils to learn and get a good education
