I will opt for locally sourced in season Welsh and UK produce and back our British farmers. Local farming systems are the way forward, our country is amazing at producing dairy, beef and lamb from marginal land. If this land was not used for grazing, then it could not be used for food production.
I will look to eat more in season local produce, it tastes better, costs less and is better for our health and the environment. Eat the seasons!
Reduced to one household car and walk more.
Helen Wright - 2minutebeachclean Angel
Continuing to organise beach cleans and fundraisers for #2minute beach clean stations which will be all around our Swansea Bay and Gower coastline - when people get involved with beach cleaning / litter picking, they often find rubbish items that they may use at home such as plastic cotton bud sticks, sanitary items, plastic bottles etc. and these items are now finding their way in to the environment. Raising awareness will hopefully encourage people to be more mindful of what we are consuming, using and disposing of and make changes accordingly. I will continue on my own personal journey to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Every small action can build up to make a big difference!

1. We will examine every potential development site on its own merits in order to maximise energy efficiency and renewable energy technology, as far as possible in our future homes. We will seek to go further than just statutory and regulatory standards, and consider these as the bare minimum requirements rather than something to aspire to.
2. We will make sure our developments protect biodiversity. If we have to cut down any trees in the course of building new homes, we will plant 3 for every 1 we fell. We will also identify any land we own that could be used for tree-planting or be ecologically beneficial in some other way. Every year we will share exactly how many new trees we planted and include details of other ways our land has been used to improve biodiversity.
3. We will divert as much of our waste as possible from landfill, aiming to reduce, reuse or recycle instead. Every year we will share a breakdown of where our waste went and aim to improve year on year.

At Ortharize, our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in our values and the recognition of our responsibility to address climate change. We understand the profound impact that travel can have on the environment, and we are determined to play a our part as a Swansea based company towards achieving net-zero emissions.
In our pursuit of sustainability, we prioritize remote working as a cornerstone of our operations. By leveraging our existing technology stack, we are already reducing the necessity for internal travel and minimizing our carbon footprint. This commitment not only aligns with our environmental goals but also fosters a culture of flexibility and innovation within our organization.
Recognizing the environmental toll of paper consumption, we are dedicated to transforming our operations into a paperless environment. Through the digitization of processes and the encouragement of electronic communication, we aim to significantly decrease our reliance on paper, contributing to the conservation of forests and a reduction in waste. We will also seek to work with suppliers (and currently do) who can offer us services that are carbon neutral or negative. Furthermore, we take an active role through our technology in helping our clients monitor and manage their carbon emissions from travel. Utilizing advanced tools, we provide valuable insights to clients, enabling them to make informed decisions about their travel practices. We go beyond monitoring by offering tools and incentives to empower our clients to actively reduce their carbon impact. In adopting this climate pledge, Ortharize is not only making a promise to reduce our environmental impact but also contributing to the broader vision of Swansea as a net-zero community. Our actions today are an investment in a more sustainable and resilient future for all.

Rev N Jason Beynon - Bont Elim Community Church
Firstly on a personal note, as the minister and local lollipop man, I will continue to highly promote the benefits of walk to school and walk to church. We no longer take international holidays.
We continue to highlight the opportunity to work locally by utilising our highly subsidised rooms when work from home is not an option. We have fast wifi and available space.
We continue to promote the wellbeing of all in our area by encouraging local people to set up third sector initiatives in our town, as opposed to people having to travel to the city centre for groups. This ranges from mums and tots, all the way through to Age Concern.
We have a very well insulated building. We have replaced every light in the old school we have with low energy LEDs. We have fitted 40 solar panels. Until recently, we had a thermo-dynamic unit.
We currently have 5 gas boilers running our central heating system. It is our quest, with the help of grant funding, to replace the heating element of these with energy efficient air source heat pumps. We believe this will reduce our gas consumption initially by 80%. We will then pursue alternative methods to heat hot water. We have fitted heat on demand units in some of our toilets, and it will be our aim to fit more.
We continue to be passionate about recycling, encouraging all on site to reduce our rubbish production.
We are working closely with Cylch Chwarae Pontarddulais, the pre-school on site, who we have allocated space to create raised flower bed gardens for the children to grow plants and fruit.

Louise Rengozzi - The Cusp Marketing Ltd t/a Cusp
At Cusp, we recognise the urgency of the climate crisis and the role that businesses must play in reducing their carbon footprint. Even as a small organisation, we believe we are part of a bigger collective of change happening within Wales.
Wales has made significant progress in recent years towards achieving its environmental goals. The country has set ambitious climate targets, established a network of Marine Protected Areas, and aims to generate 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Wales is also working towards achieving zero waste by 2050 and participating in some EU environmental initiatives. Overall, Wales is recognised as a leader in environmental protection and conservation and the Cusp wish to support that measure.
As such, we pledge to support Wales’s carbon-neutral agenda by prioritising ecofriendly modes of transportation. We commit to the following actions:
• Implementing a 4-day work week: encouraging staff to come into the office 2 days a week of time, and work from home for the other two days. This will reduce commuting emissions and improve work-life balance for staff.
• Holding quarterly eco-trade off activities such as beach cleans, litter picks, tree planting, to help raise awareness and demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility.
• Investing in renewable energy: Cusp will explore our supply chain and look at feasibility to go with supplier’s who invest in renewable energy options and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
• Reducing single-use plastics: Cusp will eliminate or reduce single-use plastic products in its operations in our office, including office supplies, packaging, and catering. This will help reduce waste and pollution. We will replace with ecoalternatives.
• Implementing a green procurement policy will prioritise the purchase of environmentally friendly products and services, such as those made from recycled materials or those with a lower carbon footprint.
• Encouraging telecommuting to reduce commuting emissions and improve work-life balance.
• Tracking and reporting emissions on a regular basis, using tools such as carbon calculators, and set targets to reduce emissions over time. This will help monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
• We also plan that once we start trading, we will be part of a co-operating workspace like 71/72 that will support the local area in central Swansea and will be an environmentally sound building that we will be part of. By taking these steps, Cusp is committed to playing its part in achieving a carbonneutral Wales. We recognise the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for businesses to act responsibly and sustainably. We will continue to assess and improve our environmental impact to help create a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
