What’s In My Pack?

RACE NUMBER Please don’t forget your number on the race day! Fasten your number securely to the FRONT of your clothing using four safety pins.

Do not fold or deface your number.

NEVER swap your race number with another runner.

TIMING CHIP Please check that your race number matches the number on the envelope and the chip number.

Thread your shoelaces through the chip, ensuring the flat side of the chip is facing away from your shoe. This is activated as you cross the mat at the start line and times your run until you cross the finish line.

Don’t forget to place your chip in the recycling containers at the finish area.

Medical Advice & First Aid It is strongly recommended that you train for the run and prepare for the challenge of completing the 10km course.

If you have not exercised before (or for some time) consult your doctor for a check up.

First Aid is provided by St Johns Ambulance.

They will be located throughout the course with a base at the finish area.

Please contact the nearest marshal or steward should a problem arise.

All runners MUST complete the medical details form on the back of the race number.

Do not run if you feel unwell or have just been unwell. There is always next year!

Lost Children The Lost Children point is located within the Information Marquee.

Late Entry Late entries will only be taken for the Junior Races and only if spaces are available. Check the website on Friday 21 September for availability. If spaces are available we will accept entries up to one hour before each junior race start.

Entry fees on the day will be at a higher rate.

The Information Marquee will be open from 8.30am on the day of the event.

There are no entries available on the day for the main 10K Race.

What to Expect at the Finish After you cross the finish you will need to return your timing chip into the containers provided. Staff will be on hand to assist you.

You can also collect a drink, your medal, a goody bag and T shirt. (1 per person) Competitors in the 1K and 3K MUST be met by a parent or guardian when leaving the finish funnel area.

To reunite with family and friends after the race please move out of the funnels and meet near the Information Marquee.

Catering stalls and other activities will be available near the Cenotaph.

A team of physiotherapists and sport therapists will be on hand to offer treatment and advice.

Assembly Procedure & Start For the main 10K race the assembly area is split into time band zones. Please assemble in the area that corresponds to your predicted finish time. This should ensure that you are running with runners of similar ability to give you the best possible experience and finish time.

The start assembly point is on the dual carriageway on Oystermouth Road (outside St Helen’s Rugby Ground) and will commence from 12.30pm. There will be a warm up approximately 10 minutes before the race.

Road closures commence from approximately 12 noon and the roads surrounding the event will become extremely busy. Please take this into consideration when planning your journey.

Travelling and Parking Arrangements

By Car: Please help us by arriving early as the car parks are well used and traffic builds up close to the main event car park. A detailed traffic management system has been put in place and road closures will come into operation from approximately 12 noon.

Please help us by sharing cars or travelling together wherever possible.

When exiting the car parks on foot please take care and only cross at the designated crossing points. This is especially important at the end of the event when returning to your vehicles as you will be crossing a very busy dual carriageway.

If your friends and family want to shout encouragement, there are good spectator areas at the finish and start lines, the 5K turn in Oystermouth and Blackpill Lido, where there are toilets, a café and a play area.
