INTERIOR

Hovering over the creek are three floors of floorto-ceiling windows with lots of natural light, seethrough floors, floating staircases, and more open-concept outdoor spaces. The new third floor rotates 90 degrees to better relate to the site. This shift breaks up the mass of the structure, giving some levity and height while differentiating itself from the lower floors.

EXTERIOR

With a steel frame and bedrock anchored foundation this home boasts effortless strength; becoming part of the land itself. By opening up site lines of the land and using transparent materials, the natural water features are visible from the front and back of the house.

VISION

Nestled in the crevice between two California hills, this remodel sits atop a creek at the foot of a waterfall. Fougeron Architecture made full use of this picturesque site, connecting the structure deep into the ground itself to float above the flowing water.

Patio Studio Architecture Mono House The curbing patio fuses the internal and external areas of the home, blending them together without distinct separation. This creates an intimate connection to the surrounding landscape and elegantly expands the volume of the house. A Monolithic Structure

The home is a monolithic structure enveloped by a concrete skin, orienting the visuals toward the 'inside" patios. The sturdy foundation of concrete, stone exterior, and wood interior seamlessly blend together for an introverted character.

Monolithic meaning; formed of a single large block of stone. About the concept

Location The Land The Entrance

Located on the end of a sloped neighborhood and bordering a native forest, the home gives an entirely new meaning to indoor/outdoor living.

With a flat foundation and no vegetation or gradients, the land where the home is built acts as a blank canvas for the design to come to alive.

With 9 areas of living spaces, the entrance is nestled on the upper of 2 floors, all connected by a corridor and separated by patios leading around the home and down onto the street.
