The aged and community care sector has never been as exciting or challenging. The introduction of the Government reform agendas and the push towards consumer-direction and market competition are driving fundamental changes to business models and are challenging aged care providers to adapt, innovate and embrace the new paradigm for service delivery within aged care. In 2014/15 SwanCare recorded its best financial result in the organisation’s 55 year history. More importantly, we continue the proud tradition of providing a happy place for older people in retirement living and residential care. Highlights for last financial year included the completion of a new master plan for Bentley Park; start of construction of the Akora apartments in Bentley; completion of the second stage of the community facility at the Australind retirement village; successful re-accreditation of our three care centres; improvements to

technology, hospitality and consumer directed care; and one of our hard working volunteers Laurie Hudson was named the ACSWA Volunteer of the Year. Bentley Park is the largest fully integrated continuing care community in WA and the new master plan sets out a bold and exciting vision for future development of the village. When completed in late 2016 the new 5 storey Akora building on Jarrah Road will offer 44 contemporary apartments with a ground floor cafĂŠ and outdoor piazza. Residents at our South West retirement village at Australind now enjoy an expanded community centre with indoor pool, outdoor alfresco and entertainment area. Congratulations to our outstanding Residential Care management team and the dedicated group of nurses, carers, hospitality and other staff for achieving 100% compliance in the three yearly accreditation of our care centres Kingia, Tandara and Waminda.
