Ju ne 2013 swancare resident newsletter Across My Desk CEO’s Report It is hard to believe that the financial year is drawing to a close and that we are almost at the half-way point of the calendar year. It is an overused cliché but time has most definitely sped up, or at least it seems that way. During the month there were a number of notable achievements and newsworthy items that crossed my desk, and I will commence this month’s article with a fantastic announcement.
SwanCare Group Finalist in the ACSWA Organisation of the Year Awards It was fitting validation for many months of hard work by SwanCare Group when we were selected as one of four state finalists in the soon to be announced 2013 Excellence in Care Awards. The award ceremony, conducted by Aged and Community Services WA, is to be held on June the 7th, and recognises outstanding achievements by not-for-profit organisations. To be selected as a finalist in the Organisation of the Year category is a great
achievement, and reflects the commitment that SwanCare Group has to enhancing the wellbeing of its residents and to the ongoing development of its employees. The award is continued acknowledgement of our journey towards long term sustainability that has embraced the entire organisation and has truly been a “Top to Bottom” reform initiative. SwanCare Group has now established a strategic and business platform that will ensure the continued success and longevity of this very proud and well established provider of Aged Care services. We were runners up last year in this award, maybe this year we can go one better.
Carlisle units all Sold For those residents that have been keeping an eye on the progress of the sale of our Carlisle development, I am really pleased to report that all of the 32 units have now been sold. We knew that we had a great product at Carlisle and our research clearly showed us that these units would appeal to a more general and broader demographic, we therefore knew that they would sell. However, the speed with which they did sell certainly surpassed our initial hopes and expectations. I would like to pass on my sincere appreciation and thanks to the team at Welsh Real Estate, a locally based real estate company who were the sales agents for this project. Chantal Ricupero the sales project leader and her support team did a resounding job, worked tirelessly and gave their full and undivided attention to the Carlisle sales effort, and the results clearly speak for themselves. I would certainly recommend the Welsh Real Estate team to anyone who is considering buying or selling property in and around the Carlisle, Bentley or Victoria Park locality.
New Board Member on board As you all know our Board performs a wonderful role in providing SwanCare Group with a high level focus on our strategic direction and ensures that we continue to operate with a high level of governance and adherence to corporate regulations and requirements. They effectively set the course for our journey and it is then up to me and my team of managers to steer the ship in the right direction. To help the Board maintain their strategic focus and to ensure that we have the right set of skills at the pointy end of the organisational hierarchy, a new member has joined the ranks. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Etta Palumbo to the Board of SwanCare Group. Etta has a distinguished corporate career, primarily in the area of public relations, marketing and communications. Etta will be having a very important strategic role within the Board assisting and providing supportive advice with respect to our marketing, branding and public relations activities. Etta is currently the Director of Business Development and Marketing with the Public Trustees Office. We welcome Etta to SwanCare Group and wish her all the best in her role.
