The moment I found my passion for architecture, I was in my freshman year of undergraduate studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the Fall of 2017. During my time there I received my Bachelors in Architecture with a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship and Architectural History. While in my Junior year at SCAD, I studied abroad in Lacoste, France in the Aix-en-Provence region of Southern France. It was during this time I fell in love with Europe and the historical architecture. After the three months abroad in France, I decided I wanted to pursue my Masters of Architecture in Europe. I chose to study in the well known city of Canterbury, England.

I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and very early on my family and I moved to Charleston, South Carolina. When I was younger, my mother and I would explore the Charleston’s natural surroundings and historic architecture by taking long car rides for many hours around the islands.

I looked forward to these long journeys where I could discover nature and mankind’s creations.

It was through these experiences, where I was exposed to the value of blending nature with architecture that embody nature and sustainability.

The moment I knew what I wanted to do as an architect clicked during my Freshman year at Savannah College of Art and Design. I was at a lecture for healthcare architecture revolving around the patient experience. It was there that my goals for being an architect were no longer for myself, but to help people through the future of healthcare architecture. To use my personal experience as a patient to positively impact the lives of others through architectural design.

Located in Jacksonville, Florida, these two multi-use buildings focus on Jacksonville’s health and economic impact. The jobs created and the businesses located within the building significantly increase the city’s economic growth. Each building focuses on sustainability with a phytofiltration system, vertical gardening, solar panels, and vertical gardening. One building includes an office and restaurant with connections to a rooftop park that offers relaxing amenities to visitors and employees. The other building has a rooftop garden that filters out water used for clean air and air conditioning, while cisterns provide recycled water for plumbing. In addition, the Museum contains an outdoor projection screen for digital media exhibits.

The most critical factor in designing these two buildings is their impact on Jacksonville’s economy.

The city of Jacksonville has a struggling economy and a large homeless population. Giving back to the community through hundreds of jobs will increase the economic value and combat unemployment and homelessness.

Water is collected from the rooftop garden into cisterns, recycled back into the soil, and recycled and filtered for plumbing. The building has its separate climate through recycling.

Section A cuts through Building A. The elevator shafts are shown and illustrate how the elevator shafts keep the building stable through the use of a core made of structural walls. The first three floors offer an abundance of stores. Floors four, five, and six show the cubicles on the office floors.

Floors seven and eight show the seating area for the four restaurants. Floor nine explores the library and seating areas. Finally, floor ten offers a garden and benches on top of the roof.

This section shows the continuation of Building B from the main facade. It also shows the section of Building A and the projection screen and seating area between the two buildings. Building A shows the gym and yoga area on the first floor. The second floor offers the dermatologist’s office and spa.

Floor three exhibits the art classrooms. Floors five and six showcase the Museum and the high ceilings that extend through the sixth floor. Floors seven through nine show the rooms located in the hotel. The roof shows the vertical gardening stands and the garden allotments.

This render shows the courtyard located between the two buildings. The courtyard comprises a projection screen to exhibit art, a seating area beneath the projection screen, and tables with benches to allow people to eat outside.

This render shows the rooftop garden of the Office building. There are house-shaped seating booths facing away from the main road. The garden boxes containing the trees with surrounding benches are also shown.

Floor 1 is a multi-use area. The healthcare building contains a yoga studio with meditation rooms, a gym, and a central reception lobby. The office building consists entirely of stores. Outside of The healthcare building, The office building is an extension of a museum located in The healthcare building. There is a projection screen and a seating area for people to view exhibited artwork and picnic tables to allow people to eat outside.

In The healthcare building, Floor 2 is made of a dermatologist’s office with an office, a men’s and women’s bathroom, a reception lobby with a patient seating area, and nine patient rooms. Additionally, there is a spa with massage tables and hot tubs. The spa also has a client seating area and reception desk. The spa can be accessed through the dermatologist’s office using the stairs or elevators. In The office building, Floor 2 consists of another entire floor of stores.

On the fifth floor of The healthcare building, there is a museum.

The Museum extends outside in the courtyard. The indoor Museum contains movable walls that can change depending on the exhibition. The office building’s fifth floor is the same as the 4th floor, with offices, a bathroom, and a break room.

The seventh and eighth floors of the healthcare building and the office are the same. The healthcare building uses the seventh and eighth floors as a hotel. The office building uses the seventh and eighth floors as independent restaurants. The elevators open at the hostess stand leading to the two desperate restaurants on each floor. Each restaurant has there own kitchen but shares a bathroom on the opposite side of the elevator.

The ninth floor of The healthcare building is the third floor of the hotel. The office building uses the ninth floor as a library. The library has seating areas around the floor and is mainly comprised of bookshelves.

Floor 10 consists of the roof area of both buildings. The floor plan for The healthcare building consists of a garden. The garden has vertical gardening stands and allotments located on the ground.

These gardens are watered through phytophiltration cisterns by a rainwater collection system. Additionally, there are seating areas and swings for people to sit on. The office building has a central elevator and stair system as the primary structural system. Benches surround eleven garden allotments, and each grows one large tree.

Outré ARCH 303-Arch Dsgn Studio III: Structural Application Spring 2020 Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Lumion

The focus of this project is to bridge a connection between the Savannahian culture and the community by creating a design that disrupts the traditional ideals of Savannah. The curved roof that meets at the bottom of the street is symbolic of the moss trees that shade the streets of Savannah. These trees are a vital element that makes Savannah a popular destination. The fluctuating roof forms are representative of the diverse heights and shapes of the trees, and the shadows created. In addition, including large curtain walls is a crucial feature relating to connecting the structure with the surrounding environment. This creates an emotional and physical connection for guests inside while also creating a sense of curiosity from passersby on the street.

Rainwater

Collect and Repurpose

The greenery covering the roof is watered through a phytofiltration system. The filtered water purifies polluted air in the building, saves energy costs and improves the health of inhabitants, saves 1/3 on heating hosts and 11-16% on heating and cooling combined, reduces ventilation by 80%, and adds moisture to the air, and saves on water due to the recycling of rainwater to power the system. Rainwater is collected in the pockets created by the curved roof, filtered, and then recycled back into the soil and throughout the building.

The cross-section of the building shows the lateral design and the flow throughout the design. The first floor exhibits the multi-use space, the adjacent bathrooms, the cloakroom assigned for visitors, and the ticket office. The second floor exposes the theatre area, including the backstage area, seating area, and stage. Conjointly, the high stage ceilings give space for lighting, and speakers are shown.

The longitudinal section allows you to see the flow of reaching the floors by stairways and the elevator shafts. The rooftop bar is shown above the stage and creates a stair-like form from the rooftop to the cut into the roof curves.

The section through the facade exposes the programmatic features of the design. The lobby, ticket office, and elevator shaft are at the forefront of the building. The second floor divulges the theater from the perspective of the audience. The next floor contains the kitchen and theater lobby. The rooftop restaurant can be accessed by stairs or a separate elevator next to the stairs. Servers can also use this elevator to bring food from the kitchen to the rooftop.

The rounded floor plan was chosen to create a smoother and more welcoming pathway around the building than the narrow rectangular paths formed around neighboring structures. The first floor contains a lobby, the ticket office for the theater, the employee office, a multi-use community space, and a bathroom. Stairs to the upper floors are located at the bottom of the plan, and an elevator is in the bottom left corner.

The second floor has a live theater that can be rented out for shows. Most of the floor has seating for the theater, a stage, and a backstage area. There is also a balcony that can be used before or during intermission. The main hall has a storage room where stage equipment can be placed in between shows.

The third floor contains an exhibition space for art, a kitchen for preparing food for the rooftop bar and restaurant, and food preparation for shows. Additionally, there is a balcony for people to use.

The other half of the floor is a continuation of the stage below. The high ceilings provide an area for stage components to be installed.

The bar and event space provides visitors with an area to hold events, get dinner, and enjoy a show.

The purpose of this building is to bring the community together in different ways, whether through watching a show in the theatre, socializing at an event in one of the two multi-use spaces, or just relishing in each other’s company over a nice meal.

Halcyon ARCH 302-Arch Dsgn Studio II: Site and Environment Winter 2020 Illustrator, Revit, Lumion. Photoshop, Indesign

Halcyon focuses on the importance of calmness and escapism from everyday life.

Located on Middleton Place, this kayak center creates a welcoming presence for people situated in Middleton Place and people passing by on the water. Charleston as a community is very active, meaning that there is always a time when people on water occupy the water. Plantations in the area are known for holding events ranging from weddings, food festivals, charity events, and gatherings. I want to keep this tradition going by having an ample event space looking out on the water and shading over a portion of the area for the Summer months.

The values for this project include the importance of the location in terms of the design. My goal is for the design to focus on conforming to the characteristics of the environment and values of the marsh and river to the people of Charleston and their culture. Greenery is a big part of Charlestonian Architecture. Ivy-lined gates, window boxes, and tall shrubs for privacy can be found throughout the city. Some of the oldest buildings downtown can show signs of efflorescence on the bricks and worn spots on concrete. Charleston is also known for having colorful buildings downtown, as seen in the famous Rainbow Row.

The building located on the riverbank is used for kayaks. Water flows into the area parallel to the entrance to the kayak center and is enveloped by a dock. The left side of the dock is reserved for unloading kayakers after usage. There is a cleaning station with a hose that can be used to clean the kayaks. The right side of the docks next to the kayak storage is used to load kayakers and prepare them for their excursions on the river. There are two rooms of kayak storage. Furthermore, there are stairs leading to the roof. Visitors can go to the roof to better view the river.

The entrance to the business building opens up to a hallway that surrounds the building. Across from the entrance are a storage and mechanical room. To the left of the entrance are bathrooms, private offices, and an education room at the end. To the right of the access is a kitchen and meeting room.

The kitchen can provide a space for caterers to create meals for community and private events at Middleton Place.

This is an aerial view of the two buildings on the edge of the river at Middleton Place. The Business Building is above the Kayak Center at a higher elevation. Below the Business Building is the Kayak Center, which sits at the lowest elevation on land and jets out into the water. The building accounts for high tide by holding up the building with towers. The business building is located above the high tide water mark for the most part, with a small portion being lifted on towers to account for the high tide.

A walkway around the water allows people to walk around to get inside the kayak and put them in the water. A walkway from the kayak area to the business building is straight across the water. Salubrity ARCH 301-Arch Dsgn Studio I: Human-centered Design Fall 2019 Revit, Photoshop, Indesign, Sketching

The idea behind the health station is the Lacoste isn’t suited for injuries. It would be much easier to have a clinic located in Lacoste with essentials for injuries and essential products not found in the village. These products include bug spray and sunscreen.

If there is a medical emergency, inside the clinic is a button that alerts the nearest emergency professionals. The cafe is situated at the bottom towards Maison Basse and next to the clinic. The idea behind the cafe was to give people a place to rest and rehydrate for the walk back up to the village. This hydration point will be essential in the blazing summer months. Almost all of the structure’s exterior walls are made of glass. This allows the customers to get a 360-degree view of the Luberon region.

The squared area of the building contains a small doctor’s office. There is one patient room, a small lobby, a bathroom, and a storage closet. Due to the nature of being located in a remote area of the Aix-en-Provence region of Southern France, there is no significant need for a full doctor’s office. However, the nearest doctor’s office is about an hour away, so the small doctor’s office can be handy in cases of minor injuries. There is also a tiny university campus that doesn’t have an on-site medical office. Therefore, students are also brought to this office for minor injuries. The quartered circular area towards the back has seating and a fireplace used by students and visitors to the cafe. The more significant circular part of the building serves as a cafe.

The rooftop floor plan contains a seating area with two hammocks, a semicircle couch encompassing a fireplace, and four benches with umbrellas that can be taken down in the winter. The roof also hovers over the walkway between the doctor’s office and the cafe.

This is a sketched render showing the entirety of the building. The building can be accessed by a small road, with a small driveway assigned to an ambulance loading dock. The render perfectly shows the curved curtain walls encircling the cafe, rooftop, and doctor’s office. Curtain walls allow for beautiful views and natural light during the summer months.

This render is looking through the curtain wall surrounding the clinic waiting room. The clinic has a small lobby with a reception desk. The back wall has a door that allows patients to be brought in from the ambulance loading dock. The patient room, bathroom, and storage closet are to the right of the lobby.

The Last Nuclear Bomb ARCH 405-ARCH 406 Capstone Studio i & ii Winter 2021-Spring 2021 Revit, Illustrator, Lumion, Photoshop, Indesign

In 2153, South Africa is bombed by a North African terrorist group in response to attempts to disband the group. The terrorist group dropped a nuclear bomb on the nuclear power plant located in Pretoria, South Africa. This causes a mass explosion, creating a blast radius extending 521 miles from the blast site.

In 2173, a memorial was proposed to honor the victims and is located 90 miles from the perimeter of the blast radius. The memorial’s location is symbolic due to the area being at the Vastrap Nuclear Testing Site. The Vastrap Nuclear Testing Site was dismantled due to international pressure rendering it a dry testing site. The memorial is comprised of two different buildings. One of the buildings is an amphitheater that holds charity events and concerts to raise money to help victims of the bombing as well as protect the public from future wars and bombings in war-torn areas. In addition, memorialize the names of victims of the bombing and teach future generations about the past while honoring those who died.

Structural steel beams cascade across the formed roof to hold the structure together. These steel beams were pre-made to fit the project precisely. The steel beams meet at the flooring system and are placed 6’ apart. The steel framed flooring system comprises joists placed 6’ apart and doesn’t exceed maximum spanning lengths. The Museum exhibits a radial grid system with an inner circle containing steel columns throughout the rectangular rooms that conform to the radial griding system. The glass-paneled roof is sloped to allow the minimum rainfall received throughout the year. The rainwater is collected and distributed within the green roof at the center of the building. The mullions are placed in a system that allows the glass to withstand the weight of the panels. The Museum contains concrete paneling on the facade of the building. Soda Lime Glass is used for the curtain walls for the roof and the museum entrance. The glass roof panels contain a shaded transparency filter that prevents the sun from blasting and overheating the building.

The Amphitheater building has three main exits. Two exits are located in a small stairwell leading to the stage. The other exit is at the back of the Amphitheater. There are also two exits in the public bathrooms. The amphitheater site plan has a half distance of 220’ with four main exits on the project. The Northwest exit is the main entrance/exit for visitors. This exit is where the bus drops visitors off and picks them up to take them to the parking lot. This is also the exit visitors use to walk to the Museum. The Northeast exit is where tour buses will be located when concerts are held at the amphitheater.

Museum has a circular layout with two outer circles containing exits every 45’. The two outer rings have ten exits aligned with an exit door on the inner ring located at the North, South, East, and West exits. The circulation plan shows that the Museum comprises three main rings encompassing a center area. The exits are on a symmetrical radial grid of 8 grid lines radiating from the center every 45°.

The two outer rings have exits on every 45° grid line, while the inner ring is comprised of exits on every 90° grid line.

This sectioned diagram of the Museum illustrates the flow of cold air, natural sunlight, and airflow.

Cold air flows from the concrete flooring and towards the return duct. Natural sunlight passes through the glass roof and creates natural heating.

This sectioned diagram of the amphitheater illustrates the airflow and how cold air reacts in the building. First, the cold air is distributed throughout the building from underneath the flooring. It is then pushed out through the exhaust fan.

The two buildings are located near the Vastrap airport on very flat surfaces. The Amphitheater is the first building seen, with the Museum close by. The parking lot is a five-minute walk from the Amphitheater, allowing visitors at the Museum and Amphitheater to be safe from the sound of cars and traffic. Visitors are shuttled from the parking lot to the Museum and Amphitheater. The design takes advantage of the flat topography to create an effortless flow. As represented in the drawing, both buildings are placed on areas with a minimum slope satisfied by using a building pad. The amphitheater has an ETFE white plastic covering for the roof. The wall behind the stage is made of acoustic paneling similar to that found in a music studio to block sound from entering the backstage area of the Amphitheater. The “Walls of Remembrance” are made of white marble. During the day, the names on the white marble are dark grey, but at night they emit white lighting due to being charged by the body heat of people touching the walls. This connotes the connection between life and death by charging the victims’ names with the body heat of those that are living.

The amphitheater and the surrounding marble “Walls of Remembrance” are enclosed by concrete paving. The view also looks onto the seating provided for visitors during charity concerts. The nighttime aerial view of the Museum and Amphitheater highlights the Walls of Remembrance when lit up after charging through human touch all day. The vehicular path is also shown during its run time at night while picking up and unloading visitors at the amphitheater. The pathway to the Museum is lit up with lights placed along the facade of the building, giving light to the exterior path wrapping around the building. The entrance is adorned with acacia trees and wild thorn brushes, with visitor seating allocated underneath the acacia trees. To honor the victims of “The Last Nuclear Bomb,” the walls surrounding the amphitheater are covered in the victims’ names. The walls are charged by the heat emitted from a visitor touching the names, so, at night, the names will be lit up in white. The white is symbolic of the “Victims of Terrorism” awareness ribbon as well as the awareness ribbon color for “Peace.” This color brings awareness to the victims while also symbolizing peace for the future. Visitors are given smart glasses when they arrive at the amphitheater. Holograms are visible through the smart glasses when a name on the walls is touched. The victim shares their story and allows visitors to donate to charities by scanning the victim’s name.

This is a render of the backstage area of the Vastrap Amphitheater. When artists come to sing for charity events, they are hosted in one of the two dressing rooms. Within the backstage area is a green room that can also be used as a conference/meeting area, a private bathroom on the back end of the men’s and women’s public bathrooms, and a large seating area.

The second building is a museum that informs visitors of the war that caused “The Last Nuclear Bomb” and how the world came together in harmony after the war. The Museum is designed to have rings representing the blast radius that stopped at the Vastrap Testing Site. The outer ring contains a dark, windowless hallway. The ring is called “The Tunnel of Heartbeats.” As you walk through the tunnel, the walls are lit with orange animated heartbeats that the victims recorded. The hallway emits the sounds of the heartbeats harmonizing how the victims all felt. “The Tunnel of Heartbeats” allows visitors to understand and connect to what the victims went through to let people understand the destruction caused by nuclear bombs.

This is a sketched render of the War Museum showing the seating areas, vegetation, emergency entrances, and exits to the Tunnel of Heartbeats. The outermost ring of the Museum is closed off from receiving light as a way to create an emotional experience when walking through “The Tunnel of Heartbeats .”The inner rings of the Museum are covered with a glass-paneled roof. This allows visitors to be greeted with light after experiencing an emotional journey by walking through the dark tunnel.

The Museum is located approximately 450’ from the Amphitheater. The circular design is representative of the bomb radius stopping near the Vastrap testing site. The outer ring of the Museum is the Tunnel of Heartbeats. Visitors walk through a dark tunnel lit up by heartbeats and echo the sounds of the victim’s heartbeats.

This project aims to create a solution to combat Plymouth’s major sewage problem while also creating a space for people to use for exercise. Plymouth has a very high number of sewage spills resulting in it being one of the main environmental issues for the area. The most significant spills can be traced to the ports of HMNB Devonport on the River Tamar, with over 850 hours of sewage spillage. The second issue plaguing Plymouth is the high obesity rates of both children and adults. I aim to merge these two problems to create a large pedestrian bridge. A pathway located on Pottery Quay will bridge out to a floating community garden. Underneath the garden will be a natural filtration system that will cycle out the sewage released into the river and turn it into freshwater used to grow food.

Those who meet the National Low-Income program’s requirements can receive a free allotment to grow vegetation if there is no way to grow it at home. They also receive a discount at the Farmers Market and Cafe. In addition, schools that meet the requirements for a free lunch program do not charge students for a healthy meal alternative.

There is a paid program for those who do not qualify for the low-income program. People interested in renting allotment space on the floating farm can do so. The allotments are paid per square foot.

In addition, those in the paid program get a discount at the farmers market and cafe. People can also choose to sell their fruits and vegetables to the farmer’s market to allow others to buy their grown foods. This program enables citizens to connect with the community through a community garden-style farm on the ocean.

Obesity is one of the biggest problems in Plymouth. The high percentage of obese children and adults can be linked to the city’s high poverty rate. Devonport ward is one of the most impoverished and obese in Plymouth. The reasons why poverty can lead to obesity can be linked to limited time, money, and availability of easy meals. One of the biggest problems facing Plymouth and the Southwest Coast of England is sewage pollution. The above and left images contain data on Plymouth and Southwest England sewage spillage. The site is located on the edge of the Torpoint Dock and connects to Pottery Quay. Pottery Quay was heavily destroyed during the aerial bombings during World War II. However, the Pottery Quay Wall remains can still be found on the site.

This illustration is the longitudinal section of the floating farm. An uncovered area of the farm connects to land and is located in a small canal. The entrance bridges the connection between the farm and the parking lot. The glass roof regulates the natural light that helps grow the vegetation. Certain roof areas allow different amounts of sunlight to pass through based on what kind of vegetation grows in that area. A cafe, market, and commercial kitchen are located in the middle of the farm. A fish tank that promotes a more sustainable watering option through filtration is situated beneath the farm.

This floor plan examines the grid lines that provide the locations for placing the pilings that hold up the farm. The plan of the underwater rooms accompanies the floor plan. These rooms contain the employee bathroom and showers, storage room, break room, filtration management systems, and a meeting room.

This floor plan demonstrates the rows of allotments. The allotments can vary depending on what program the user qualifies for and how much they are willing to pay. Also shown is the cafe, outdoor seating, commercial kitchen, cafe kitchen, farmers market, and store. Outside the store is a curved vegetable sound creating a farmers market with fresh food.

Cafe-Rooftop Seating

This floor plan depicts the rooftop seating area above the cafe. The seating area consists of ten swings and eighteen picnic tables. Towards the bottom middle of the roof is the elevator and to the bottom left of the elevator diagonally is the spiral staircase leading up from the cafe. The elevator takes visitors to the ground floor. To access the underwater floor, an employee key card is needed.

These are sectioned diagrams of the filtration fish tank. The fish eat the sewage that flows into the tank. After the filtered water is digested, it goes up a water pump to an aerated water pump, pushing the water to a layer of bacteria that fertilizes the water. It is further pushed into the soil layer and then used to fertilize and water the vegetation growing on the farm.

The stairs leading up towards the roof seating area can be found in the cafe. An elevator that goes to each floor is located in the middle of the building. However, you must have an employee key card to reach the underwater floor. This render is of the cafe kitchen. Food grown at the farm that isn’t used for school meals is used to create meals at the Farm Cafe. Outside vendors also bring in fresh meats and cheeses to help curate the meals sold at the cafe. The cafe offers outdoor seating and rooftop seating, as well as indoor seating.

This is a rendering of the farmer’s market and store. Fruit and vegetables not grown privately through the paid program, low-income program, or for school meals are sold in the farmer’s market. People who privately grow their food at the farm also have the option to sell their fresh fruit and vegetables at the farmer’s market for a profit. Meals are also curated at the cafe next door and sold in the store.

To combat the obesity problem of school-aged children, the farm creates healthy lunch meals sent to the school. These meals are made in this kitchen before being sent to the community schools.

Rochester House CARC6102 Design Technology Winter 2022 Group Project with Celine Sadek and Faujia Rumman Markers, Colored Pencils, Pen

Our design project focuses on revamping the Rochester House. We took an approach to better the environment while creating a pre-eminent adaptation to the façade to connect the building to UCA by a green axis that continues over the facade. The façade contains an intricate system of branching garden planters across the whole side of the building. That approach helps solve noise and pollution problems and produces oxygen since the Rochester House is located in a dense area. It is also a never-ending changing facade since trees change colours depending on the season. That is possible by choosing sustainable materials such as glulam, laminated timber, and glass.

This diagram is a detailed wall section of the planter boxes across the facade. The planter box is made at a depth that can withhold the root system of a tree. The first layer of the planter is a waterproof membrane. The following layer contains a geotextile fabric that encompasses the different layers surrounding the root system. These inside layers have a top layer of soil with sand below that.

Underneath the sand is a draining system that prevents too much water from being trapped in the planter, making the planter too heavy. The illustrated diagram to the left depicts an exploded view of the building. The length of the facade is shown concerning the floors of the building.

This sketched rendered section highlights the relationship between the existing building and the added facade. The five floors of the building currently have no use. However, the vertical gardening facade creates an interest in reinstating the building for use by the university. My goal as an architect is to serve the community by helping people to heal through architecture. I will achieve this goal by using my past experiences to support the future of healthcare. I grew up with epilepsy and spent years attending multiple doctor appointments and staying at the hospital. When I was 16, I had my first brain surgery to combat my epilepsy. I was first exposed to how architecture affected my healing process. I was placed in an ICU room to heal after my surgery, which was very dark and closed off from the rest of the hospital. Shortly after that, I suffered from post-operative depression. I was placed in a similar room during my second brain surgery at age 18. However, due to having to stay at the hospital longer, I got to explore a new part of the hospital. I was taken to a large atrium with an amplitude of natural sunlight. Having this kind of exposure to natural light and socializing with other patients significantly improved my ability to improve my health post-surgery and prevent another post-operative depression.

Because of these experiences, I want to find ways of changing the way healthcare architecture is done to help others.
