About

As the quote of Rumi suggests, Sher-o-Taveer is a humble effort by Ar. Jagjeet Saluja to capture the undiscovered surroundings of the streets of India where numerous emotions are scattered waiting for an eye to be captured and revealed to the others in form of a poetry or story. Each photograph in the coffee table book carries an Urdu couplet with it’s English translation which gives the reader an in-depth perspective of not ony what the subject in the picture wants to speak but also about the perspective of the photographer. The book comprises of photographs mainly from Ahmedabad, Jodhpur and the Himalayan region of India. Ar. Jagjeet Saluja’s love for heritage architecture, old houses and ever enthralling life in the narrow streets of India is very well depicted in the book. The poetry adds a deep layer to the photographs, something which even the subject in the photograph would not be aware of. The urdu poetry has been handpicked by Ar. Jagjeet Saluja himself and the English translations too so that his vision reaches more people withour any barrier of language. About The Author

Jagjeet Saluja is an architect by profession, spearheading his own design firm in the name of Swabhimaan Architects in Ahmedabad. He got into photography in 2016 when he was working in the field of conservation in the Walled City of Ahmedabad giving him opportunity to witness the chaos of the narrow streets of Ahmedabad daily. He has held 3 photography exhibitions in Jodhpur (one month long at the luxurious RAAS Hotel), Ahmedabad and Vadodara in the name of Sher-o-Tasveer. He is an ardent reader of poetry and the various shades of life scattered on the streets has always intrigued him to find the hidden layers behind the various emotions of life. Photography has always been a matter of passion for him and has never become a profession as he always wanted to enjoy the art in its purest and most innocent form. Sher-o-Tasveer is a humble effort to consolidate his perspectives of phootgraphy and poetry together and serve something different and meaningful to the world of photography and literature. He is also comping up with his own book of 100 Nazms of Urdu Poetry this year in the name of Guldasta. Attached at the last is also a brief about his company, Swabhimaan Architects and their residential, hospitality, institutional, educational and high-rise projects.

About Us

Swabhimaan Architects is a multi-disciplinary design firm involved in architecture, interiors and landscape design founded by Ar. Jagjeet Saluja.

We have an expertise at residential (bungalows, villas, low-rise apartments, tall towers, affordable housing), institutional, hospitality (hotels, resorts), commercial, religious architecture and theme parks design.

At Swabhimaan, we believe in creating a soulful juxtaposition of Indian culture and the contemporary design styles by incorporating a design pattern unique to each project which won’t be repeated in any other project of ours. The geometrical pattern chosen shall become a unique architectural and social identity of the project.

Founder & Principal Architect

An alumni of Sardar Vallabhbhai Institute of Technology, Vadodara, Ar. Jagjeet Saluja graduated in Bachelors in Architecture from Gujarat University in the year 2016.

He acquired varied experience in the field of architecture, interior and landscape design by working with various architectural firms all across the country namely PAN Architecture (Gangtok, Sikkim), City Heritage Center (Ahmedabad, Gujarat), Studio Lotus (Jodhpur, Udaipur and Delhi), Access Architects (Mumbai), Mandviwala Qutub and Associates (Ahmedabad) and Hiren Patel Architects (Ahmedabad).

Having an experience of more than 7 years in the field and having a strong spirit of entrepreeurship, Ar. Jagjeet Saluja established Swabhimaan Architects to float his own new design principles in the world of design. His varied experience of having worked at different places in all corners of India, exposed him to study, analyse and work hands-on at all styles and scales of projects of architecture, interior and landscape design.

Ar. Jagjeet Saluja is determined to establish a strong hold in the country in the field of architecture through his unique vision of connecting architecture spiritually and establishing a sense of calmness and Godliness in each space that he creates on the land of Mother Earth.
