Gain a distinct advantage for graduate-level learning and career placement, knowing you will be well prepared as a Social Worker for LBSW licensure and are eligible to apply for an Advanced Standing (one-year accelerated) Master of Social Work degree.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students are admitted to the Social Work program after meeting criteria outlined on our on-line application process at svsu.edu/socialwork OR svsu.edu/socialworkmsw. We encourage you to talk with a Social Work faculty member prior to admission to the program and create a degree completion plan.

LEADERSHIP AND HONORS OPPORTUNITIES

Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) is a Registered Student Organization that allows students the opportunity to make an impactful difference on campus and in the larger community. Delta Omega chapter of Phi Alpha is hosted by the SVSU Social Work program. The chapter promotes high standards of education for social workers and creates a mentoring and supportive environment for students starting in their sophomore year.

FIELD EDUCATION All Social Work majors complete two semesters of intensive, agency-based field education. Classroom learning is linked to experience in the field with diverse populations. BSW graduates enter the job market with real-life experience!
