Myths and Facts
Coughing vigorously during a heart attack could save your life.

Myth - There is no medical evidence to support ‘cough CPR’, which suggests you can help yourself by coughing vigorously if you think you’re having a heart attack and are alone.
Heart attack symptoms are different for men and women.
Myth - Symptoms can vary from person to person, but there are no symptoms that are more common in women than in men.
Can taking an aspirin help me while I'm having a heart attack.
Fact - While waiting for an ambulance, it may help to chew and then swallow a tablet of aspirin (ideally 300mg), as long as the person having a heart attack is not allergic to aspirin. Aspirin helps to thin the blood and improves blood flow to the heart.

Fact - We know that leading a healthy lifestyle – eating a balanced diet, getting physical activity, stopping smoking , and reducing your stress levels – can help to prevent heart disease, however, some people can lead exemplary lifestyles and still develop heart disease.
