The Windermere Children is based on the true stories of children who survived the Holocaust. When German camps are liberated at the end of World War II, children are sent to other countries such as the UK, for rehabilitation. This life-affirming story follows Holocaust children adapting to their new homes in England, while also making life-long bonds with fellow survivors. With an ensemble cast of characters, The Windermere Children follows several, moving accounts of redemption, presenting children’s ability to overcome past traumas and look forward to a promising future.

MICHAEL SAMUELS

Michael Samuels is a British television director, producer and writer. He won the prestigious Royal Television Society award for Best Single Drama with his TV play The Curse of Steptoe (2008). He then directed the BAFTA-winning mini series Any Human Heart (2011) — which took home the prize for Best Drama Series. Most recently, Samuels’ The Windermere Children was nominated for Best Single Drama at the BAFTA Awards.
