After the bombing of his father’s chocolate factory, Tareq, a young Syrian refugee, struggles to adjust to his new home in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Upon his family’s arrival in the Canadian town, Tareq fi nds himself torn between his ambition of becoming a doctor and the need to preserve his family’s legacy. In this heartfelt true story, Hatem Ali, the late Syrian actor and director behind several political TV dramas, gives his fi nal performance.

Jonathan Keijser is an award-winning, Canadian screenwriter, director and editor. His previous work includes the short fi lm Brothers (2019), which follows Syrian refugee Issam Hadhad embarking on his fi rst ever camping trip into the Canadian wilderness. Keijser continues his trend of creating socially conscious content with his feature fi lm directorial debut Peace by Chocolate.
