A Guide to our

Pneumatic Linear Valve Actuators

www.pneumatrol.com

Pneumatrol pneumatic linear valve actuators and control systems are designed and manufactured to operate rising stem valves such as gate valves, knife gate valves, globe valves and rising stem non-contact ball valves. Our pneumatic linear actuators have been engineered to provide specific features for the optimum functionality of the valve / actuator assembly.

Bridgeworks This design feature allows direct mounting of a host of readily available devices, including: Positioners, Switch boxes and Smart control systems, where space allows. Combined with control modules and flow amplification units, this system provides a fully modular approach to actuator control.

Direct Mounted Control Valve & Embedded Transfer Tube Option Direct mounting of any standardised control valves (including Namur interface), combined with an embedded transfer tube option eliminates the need for traditional pipe & fittings, not only reducing potential leak paths, but also reducing the overall cost. This tube allows displacement of air from spring chamber, thus eliminating the traditional pipe and compression fittings usually required. With selection of the correct control valve, it also enables partial pressurisation of the spring end when exhausting, purging potentially harmful atmospheric conditions, which may have been entrained into the vent of the actuator spring housing.

Air-Fail Control Module Pneumatrol pneumatic control modules provide end users with pre-determined control functionality. These systems monitor the available mains air supply pressure, when it falls below a preset limit, the module switches to an auxiliary supply path, which is usually provided by a separate air reservoir / tank. When the mains air supply pressure is restored, the systems change the supply back to normal operation. • ‘One-Shot Auto’ provides air-fail default position. Locks out remote control functions. • ‘Multi-Shot Auto’ with initial air-fail mode. Can be overridden by remote control signals. • ‘Multi-Shot Auto’ initial air-fail and final air-fail mode. Can initially be overridden by remote control signals, but final fail-mode takes priority.

Positioner A positioner is a device which, when fitted to a pneumatic cylinder, will control the position of the cylinder piston rod. The position of the piston rod is infinitely variable within the limits of the cylinder stroke and is a function of the incoming supply air pressure or electrical signal. Thus a positioner controlled pneumatic cylinder is particularly suitable for use in applications where an easily controlled, yet variable setting of the position of the piston rod is required.
