Bob Broudo, Head of Landmark School Credits and Music Video The High School Vocal Production Class recorded this music video over the winter season. The students learned their respective parts in class, without being able to actually “sing them,” due to COVID restrictions. They recorded their parts at home, on whatever equipment was available to them, and emailed them to the instructor, who mixed and mastered them together using music recording computer software. The video was also recorded completely by students over the course of one day and shows a typical day for in-person and remote learners alike. Enjoy!

FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

THANK YOU! Thank you for joining us for our 7th Annual Making Waves program. It is with much excitement and anticipation that we bring this event to you virtually—a completely different format than we are used to! This endeavor has taken a small village, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the dozens of people who contributed to the creation of this event. As you will see, the students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni who graciously agreed to be on camera did a wonderful job telling their Landmark stories. Our production partners, Lightmark Creative and In the Car media, turned our vision into a reality. The Making Waves planning committee joined forces with my team to shape and promote the event. My esteemed colleagues in the Marketing and Communications department have outdone themselves, yet again, to create beautiful, functional, and engaging assets. And most especially, I thank the sponsors, donors, and ticket holders who generously supported this event, ensuring its success as an important annual fundraiser. Making Waves is all about celebrating the vibrancy of the Landmark community and raising essential funds to support Landmark School’s mission. It means so much that you are with us tonight, and I thank you for all that you do to make Landmark such a special place.

Michelle V. Granese Director of Institutional Advancement

FROM OUR HEADMASTER

WELCOME Welcome to our first-ever virtual Makings Waves! Even though we can’t be together in person, evenings like tonight remind us what it means to be part of the Landmark family. Throughout the program you will hear heartwarming stories, hilarious tales, and there may even be a surprise or two! I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Making Waves planning committee and to all of the donors who supported tonight’s event. Your generosity is appreciated by all of us. Thank you to everyone in our community who contributed to tonight’s program through storytelling and production. Landmark is full of incredibly creative and talented people and tonight those gifts will be on full display. This year has been challenging, to say the least. However, Landmark has continued to be a beacon of hope and a force of change for those who need us. Our teachers and students have shown remarkable tenacity and perseverance this year and we celebrate them today—and everyday. Enjoy the show!

FUND-A-NEED Be a changemaker—donate during our Making Waves event to meet the $20,000 fundraising goal to support Landmark’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Landmark School has always strived to champion social justice and inclusionary practices throughout our community. More recently, these themes have gained heightened attention within schools, organizations, neighborhoods and municipalities, and families across the country and the globe. The Landmark community is strongly committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion a more intentional part of our programs. Our dual-campus Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is working to evaluate and strengthen our efforts and programs, including initiatives to help our students and faculty become more informed, invested, and empowered global citizens. This is your chance to help by making a donation in support of Landmark’s DEI efforts. During the virtual Making Waves program, we will run a Fund-a-Need fundraiser with the goal of raising $20,000 to accelerate Landmark’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Every single dollar raised through the Making Waves Fund-a-Need campaign will be put to work immediately for important programs such as: • F aculty professional development: Bringing in speakers who are experts in the field to lead faculty in critical conversations that will inform their work inside and outside of the classroom. • F aculty engagement: Purchasing books for a school-wide “summer read” and facilitated discussion groups. • Curriculum development that celebrates a wide range of identities while staying true to Landmark’s mission and remedial program. •S tudent-focused initiatives, such as affinity groups and experiential learning, in addition to classroom and library resources. These programs underscore the commitment Landmark has made to being an actively anti-racist community that welcomes learners of all backgrounds and perspectives to reach their academic and social potential.

Donate during the event From 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. EST — through the GiveSmart platform. Under “Items” find item #1: Fund-a-Need and select a donation amount. I like the on-campus gym class. I like how kids are really nice here. I like that the teachers are very nice. I like the woodshop and small engines. I like Landmark because all the kids are nice. I like the tutorials because of the 1-on-1 time. I like the happy vibes that I get from Landmark. I like Landmark because I fit in so well with the other kids. I like Landmark because they do not force you to do anything. I like Landmark because the teachers are fun and funny and nice. I like Landmark because all of the kids have dyslexia, just like me. I like Landmark because they put us with kids that are the same level even if they are different grades.
