Designed by noted architect CJ Bailey and constructed in 1913, the former West Rock Theater was the place where working men and women of Westville came to be entertained by vaudeville acts and silent films.

By the early Twenties it was overshadowed by the grand movie palaces and would close in 1925. Over the following decades the building underwent several transformations, and eventually became Wayne Chorney’s Antiques. The theater was long forgotten.

When it came on the market as a tear down in 2005 it was purchased by John Cavaliere and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Since then, with the help from the City of New Haven, the facade has been rejuvenated and the interior space recreated using 85% recycled materials. Our facility includes a theater, which accommodates sixty people, a reception area with a cash bar, and a gallery. Lyric Hall can accommodate over one hundred and eighty people.
