ADVERTISEMENT Indu ki Jawani, the latest theatre release post pandemic is joint production by T Series and Nikhil Advani. Indu ki Jawani directed by Abir Sengupta, with Kiara Advani in titular role, starts off as a comedy, tries to put in some mystery and finally ends up as none of those.

Plot The film is about Indu (Kiara Advani) who lives in Ghaziabad and is one of the hottest girl in the area, and is the object of desire for every man in the area, be it her brother’s friends or lecherous uncles in the neighbourhood.

ADVERTISEMENT Indu is dating a guy Satish (Raghav Raj Kakker) who is more interested in getting into her pants, which she keeps on avoiding. One fine day she catches him cheating on her red handed and breaks up.

Indu’s confidante and best friend Sonal (Mallika Dua) suggests to her that love and lust have to go hand in hand in today’s time and finally Indu decides to use a dating app Dinder, to look for a one night stand. She matches with a guy named Samar (Aditya Seal) and he finally lands at her house when her parents are not home.

Indu comes to know that Samar is a pakistani boy who has come to India. Indu and have their moments, discussions about movies and music across the borders. She finally also accepts that she has got this date just because of her friend’s suggestion.

To make matters worse there is news on television (with a shouting anchor, guess who..), that two terrorists are suspected to be in Ghaziabad and police are looking for them. The hell breaks loose and Indu suspects Samar.

Rest of the movie is about the confusion, who Samar is, what is his intention and does Indu get her love life sorted.

The Hits Indu ki Jawani has an interesting setting. There are a few subplots as mystery around Samar, Indu’s family equation of his father and brother and the uncles of the colony that are good.

Kiara Advani as Indu is the highlight of the film, she looks beautiful, acts well and tries her best to carry the film on her shoulders. Also, Mallika Dua as her friend, with all her gyan is fun.

Kiara’s uninhibited dance on Mika’s yesteryear’s hit Sawan me Lag Gayi Aag, when drunk ticks up the box for item number as well and is good.

The Misses The plot which feels interesting at first does not unfold as expected and there are a lot of loopholes in the screenplay.

The film suffers with age old problem of most of the bollywood films, where comedy gets to a point where they start to ham, and while giving a message it gets preachy. At some places casual sexism is just passed as comedy which is disappointing.

Few scenes are very good and bring smiles to the faces of viewers, but there are no scenes that make you laugh out loud.

Performances Performance wise Kiara shines, and fits the bill as beautiful and dumb Indu. She acts well, dances well and her dumb act is likeable.

Mallika Dua as Sonal is still in her Tinder Aunty mode from old videos and though she is good in the film, it’s more of a spoof of her old videos.

Aditya Seal as Samar looks good, but his acting skills still leave a lot to be desired. All the other characters are ok in their small roles but have nothing great to offer.

FFC Take Indu Ki Jawani, is a film which has its moments but fails to capitalise on those. It has a decent first half and could have been a very good comedy of errors, but it never takes off.

It can be watched if you are a diehard Kiara Advani fan, as other than that it has nothing much to offer.
