Amid the tensions with the Chinese army in Ladakh, the Indian government has released a list of 59 apps of Chinese origin that will be completely banned from India. This list includes some of the most popular apps on Play store and apple store like TikTok, UC browser, Clash of Kings, DU recorder, etc. This decision is backed by an intelligence report that states that these apps are a threat to the privacy of Indian citizens. They have malware and Spywares in them that can easily be used to gather data about a particular person and even monitor their activities with mass surveillance. The ban comes is covered by Section 69A of the IT act. It also has relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009.
