Girls come to Surval for an exceptional educational experience: whilst covering the academic core required of any High School student, our goal is to offer a truly holistic experience unique to Surval.
We want girls to be excited about their courses, to be inspired to explore new interests, and to have their eyes opened by experiences that will have lifelong impact. We seek to develop curious, resilient, open-minded, and ambitious individuals.
As girls progress through the grades at Surval, the impact of their experience becomes increasingly deeply embedded. As they look ahead to the forthcoming year at Surval, girls are excited to identify new opportunities which will add to their portfolio of experiences, skills and interests and support further growth and development.

Surval`s High School Diploma programme is aligned with the American High School programme and accredited by COGNIA. Students joining Surval part way through the 4-year programme will have their prior credits calculated based on their studies in their previous school. The High School programme is a broad, flexible and challenging programme and enables students to join from other curriculum programmes.
Course Credits
Students receive 1 full credit for each full course requiring 120 hours of study over an academic year and half a credit for courses requiring 60 hours of study over an academic year. Students must earn a minimum of 24 credits to graduate over 4 years of High School study from Grades 9-12, of which 18 credits must be earned from the study of core academic subjects. A further 6 credits can be earned from non-core academic subjects such as Art, Culinary Arts, and Sport & Wellbeing, or further academic electives.
Attendance
Students must complete Grades 9-12 with 90%, or higher, attendance in all classes.
Typically, students at Surval will earn the required number of credits for graduation as follows - please note this is the minimum requirement and generally, students will achieve more credits by the end of Grade 12:
A student attending Surval Montreux for 4 years from Grade 9-12 would receive 28 credits, 3 years of dedicated university counselling and the option of taking up to 8 Advanced Placement courses.* 1 credit in each Science subject - Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Environmental Science is available as an additional Science.
** Students are expected to take French and will supplement this study with Language Enrichment in other languages. The French programme at Surval prepares students for the DELF examinations, leading to an internationally recognised certificate.
International Examinations
Surval prepares students for external internationally recognised examinations to support university applications: IELTS, TOEFL, SATs, European language examinations (Cambridge & DELF).

A Surval education provides girls with a breadth of outstanding experiences and opportunities. To ensure that no value from the vast amount of experiences is lost, and lasting value is capitalised on, all girls participate in the Surval Award.
Quite simply, the Surval Award provides both a platform, and the space to truly reflect how these experiences are shaping their futures. Not only does this reflection ensure that impact is gained and realised, but it also provides an opportunity to reward the continuity of commitment of girls. The Surval Award is given with Pass, or Distinction depending on the level of reflection demonstrated by the girl.
Developing a love of languages and curiosity for cultural exploration.
