CARDI B IS BACK

Our stunning cover star, Cardi B, is back following a seven-year break from the recording studio! Her highly anticipated second studio album, ‘Am I the Drama?’ is scheduled for release on Friday September 19th.

The 2025 Autumn release, is coming “a rather long time” after her first 2018 Grammy award-winning album ‘Invasion of Privacy.’ It will feature a mix of new tracks and previously released singles including ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’.

The album title reflects the amount of "real-life drama" Cardi B has experienced of late. Through her emotive lyrics she embraces the constant conversations about her personal and professional life, acknowledging that she's often the centre of attention, for all the wrong reasons!

It’s been a long time coming – but former reality star Cardi B’s ‘Am I The Drama?’ is going to be well worth the wait.

“I’M DANNY DYER, AND I’M A TOSSER!”

Brit actor Danny Dyer calls on the nation to embrace their inner ‘tosser’ and make deliciously tossed salads and sides the star of the show, as a survey reveals nearly a quarter of Brits admit they make zero or little effort to prepare side dishes for their BBQ’s.

A hilarious new video shows the ‘Marching Powder’ star Dyer giving a masterclass in how to become the ultimate tosser, rallying the nation's side shunners to get tossing proper fresh ingredients as he elevates feta and watermelon salad and chicken caesar from basic to brilliant.

It comes as Deliveroo launches its ‘Freshness Promise’ on fruit, veg, meat, dairy and chilled items, giving customers their money back if their groceries are not delivered fresh.

PAMELA & LIAM FAUX-MANCE

SELENA’S HEN PARTY MAKES HEADLINES

US singer Selena Gomez has given fans a glimpse of her recent August 28th hen party, ahead of her upcoming September wedding to beau, Benny Blanco.

The photos - with her celeb friends Racquelle Stevens, Courtney Lopez, Ashley Cook & Connar Franklin Carpenter – show the bikini-clad group sunbathing on a yacht, enjoying the beautiful beaches and dancing late at night in their villa.

And of course, the pics show the bride-to-be sporting plenty of wedding white ensembles, including swimwear and mini-dresses.

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s recent reported “romantic trist” is being accused of being just a PR stunt.

Pammy and Liam wrapped up filming on ‘The Naked Gun’ in June 2024 and had not seen each other for almost a whole year until they were reunited at the premiere in July 2025. And according to insiders on set, when they wrapped up filming everyday, they went straight to their separate trailers. No romance happening at all!

However, the acting duo were turning heads and raising eyebrows at the premiere last month. Pamela dazzled in a deep purple strapless gown while Liam opted for a grey suit and black shirt. But it was their undeniable attraction to one another that really stole the show on the night and cause the press . From shared laughs to a sweet kiss on the cheek, the two seemed inseparable throughout the night.

Fans had been speculating their off-screen romance for a while, especially after Liam told ‘People’ that he was "madly in love" with the former ‘Baywatch’ star. “She’s just terrific to work with, No huge ego… she’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”

Pamela echoed the praise in her own interview, revealing Liam was every inch the gentleman on set, even giving her his coat when she was cold. “He brings out the best in you with respect, kindness and depth of experience,” she said.

NEWS FOR HER WHAT'S TRENDING... #STEAL

HER STYLE

KENDALL JENNER

Kendall Jenner is becoming a bit of a fashion icon of late. Let’s face it she’s the only one of the Kardashian/Jenner clan you would actually want to take style tips from! With her casual chic daytime look and her glam red carpet attire, Ms. Jenner always knows how to nail any styling trick and make it look effortless. Here at Surrey Rocks we have scanned both international and local fashion stores to tell you where to get this beautiful outfit.

ASSYMETRIC JACKET

Grab this fitted asymmetric coat in camel shade for a price steal. Team up with low cut trousers in a contrasting tone and let it hang over your outfit like Kendall or pair with jeans for a more laid back outfit choice.

TOPSHOP, £55.00

WHITE HEM TOP

The uplifting hem on this long-sleeved top accentuates your toned stomach (we hope!) which contrasts well with the round neck. If you’re not so comfortable baring your mid-drift, opt for high-waisted bottoms like Kendall so only a small section is showing.

REVOLVE, £85.00

HIGH WAISTED TROUSERS

High-waisted tailored trousers are trending right now, as seen on the catwalks of. Kendall’s baby blue cropped version adds a colour pop element to the outfit, the key is to stick with pastel shades. These cotton rich straight leg ankle grazer trousers from M&S are a steal at only £25. (They are also available in multiple colourways!) Or for a more laid-back look go for denim jeans….the high street are awash with them – we LOVE the acid denim look –giving a nod to the 80’s.

MARKS & SPENCER, £25.00

POINTED

CREAM HEELS

Curved heel point courts look great with the length of these trousers, opt for a light nude or cream shade to match with the coat for a perfect Autumn/Winter 2025 look. We fell in love with these Jimmy Choo patent slingbacks, called ‘Amita 85’ in latte. They also come in black if you are feeling plush this month!

JIMMY CHOO, £675.00

TRIED AND TESTED

LIP PLUMPERS

We are always on the lookout for plumper lips after seeing our favourite A-Listers like supermodel Emily Ratajkowsi and actress Angelina Jolie with their killer pouts. Lip plumpers are filling the shelves of all our favourite beauty stores, promising to give you fuller lips without enduring invasive surgical treatments. Our testers have chosen the best two on the market and put them to the test.

PLUMP IT - VOLUMIZING LIP PLUMPER, £11.00

Once applying this plumping gel you get a very strange tingly sensation, the pain isn’t unbearable…. but it definitely comes as a bit of a shock!! Our testers did notice the difference to their lips only after they applied the plumper numerous times but even then it was only a minimum effect for the discomfort it caused. The best feature is that the plumper is 100% paraben free and is designed to be used with your favourite lipgloss/ lipstick.

ROCKS RATING:

CANDYLIPZ – “GENUINE” LIP PLUMPER, £31.00

Candylipz works by suctioning the lips to achieve a temporary yet fuller pout. Our tester placed her lips in the apple sized object and allowed suction to take place for 6 minutes, it is advised not to use this for more than 10 minutes otherwise a mark will be visible beneath your lips. We found that 6 minutes was a perfect time for double lobed lips and 3 minutes for single lobed lips. If you’re a first time lip plumper the Candylipz does make a difference, although the effects don´t last that long. As we are on the Kardashian/Jenner theme with Steal Her Style – we definitely know Kylie Jenner never used this product for her over-pronounced pout!

ROCKS RATING:

RECIPE

SURF & TURF

A perfectly cooked steak and juicy marinated prawns, grilled to perfection, is a brilliant combo. Try this recipe from Jamie Oliver and keep BBQ season going this September! Top Tip: Ask your butcher to cut you a thick, double steak so you can get it gnarly on the outside and blushing on the inside.

INGREDIENTS:

• 12 raw prawns, shell on, from sustainable sources

• 1 lime

• 2 teaspoons Keralan spice paste

• Olive oil

• 1 x 3cm-thick sirloin steak (600g)

• 2 flatbreads, to serve

• Salad Ingredients:

• 2 limes

• 1 mango

• 1 carrot

• 4 spring onions

• 1 handful of roasted cashew nuts

• ½ a bunch of fresh mint (15g)

• ½ a fresh coconut (100g)

METHOD:

1. To butterfly the prawns, peel off the inner part of the shell, keeping the heads and tails on (there’s loads of flavour in there). Carefully run a sharp knife down the back of the prawns and use the tip of the knife to pull out the vein and discard. Repeat with the remaining prawns.

2. To make the marinade, squeeze the juice of the lime into a large bowl with the spice paste and 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and mix well. Add the prawns and toss them all in the marinade. Set aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

3. Light your barbecue and let it calm

down. Make sure you’ve got your coals high on one side and low on the other for control.

4. To prepare the steak, lightly score through the fat, then rub all over with ½ a tablespoon of olive oil, a pinch of sea salt and plenty of black pepper.

5. Place the steak onto the cooler part of the barbecue, fat side down, for 5 minutes, to render the fat.

6. Move the steak to the hotter part of the barbecue and continue to cook, fat side down, until crispy. Turn the steak onto one side and cook for 4 minutes on each side, until medium rare. Remove to a plate to rest.

7. Meanwhile, lay the prawns on the barbecue, with the tails on the cooler end and the heads on the hotter end and cook for 3 minutes on each side.

8. To make the salad, zest 1 lime into a large bowl and squeeze in the juice of

both limes. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and season with a pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Cut a few slices off the Scotch bonnet, if you like (mind how you go, it’s got quite a kick!).

9. Peel, destone and roughly chop the mango and add to the bowl, squeezing any excess juice from the seed.

10. Coarsely grate in the carrot (or finely slice if you want to practise your knife skills) and trim and finely slice the spring onions. Add to the bowl with the cashews.

11. Pick the mint leaves and finely slice. Bash the coconut open (be very careful of your fingers!) and carefully remove the flesh from the shell. Coarsely grate in half of the coconut, add the mint leaves and use your hands to toss everything together.

12. To serve, transfer the steak and prawns to a board and serve with the salad and warmed flatbreads for sharing.

WINE MATCH

For a Surf & Turf meal like this Jamie Oliver recipe, the best wine often depends on the specific cuts of meat and seafood, but generally, a light to medium-bodied red wine, like Pinot Noir, Merlot or a Bordeaux blend is a good choice. Alternatively, a full-bodied white wine, such as Chardonnay, or even a light Rosé, can work well.

MOVIE REVIEW ALBUM REVIEW BOOK REVIEW

DOWNTON ABBEY: THE GRAND FINALE

‘Downton Abbey’ fans will be pleased to know there's one last hurrah in store for the Crawley family in the third and final film from the critically acclaimed movie franchise, created and co-written by Julian Fellowes, originally as an ITV TV series.

Now into the 1930’s, the Downton Abbey upper crust are getting into all sorts of mishaps and misdemeanours. The Crawley Family grapple with the threat of social disgrace when Mary (played brilliantly by Michelle Dockery) finds herself at the centre of a public scandal and divorce whereby the whole family faces financial ruin and becoming social outca.

The confirmed cast for the final instalment include Brit greats Hugh Bonneville, Joely Richardson, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter and Michelle Dockery as well as a stellar performance from US actor Paul Giamatti.

Just be sure to bring along a handkerchief to stem the tears (of laughter and sadness!) that will accompany the last outing as Joanne Froggatt (who plays housemaid Anna Bates) reveals in her recent interview with Screen Rant.“I actually cried my eyes out when I saw Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. I properly wept for about ten minutes. I think the movie's really lovely. I think it's exactly what people will want and hope from the finale.”

‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ is being released this September 12th.

While not a typical cinema excursion film (obviously no special effects and car chases!) this is a grand affair with great costumes and locations that would be fully appreciated on the big screen.

Directed by ‘My Week with Marilyn’s’ Simon Curtis this is going to be a great last outing for the famed posh British brigade.

AM I THE DRAMA?

- CARDI B

Our cover star Cardi B's highly anticipated second studio album, ‘Am I the Drama?’ is scheduled for release on Friday September 19th following the star’s seven-year break from the recording studio.

The release, coming after her first 2018 Grammy award-winning album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ will feature a mix of new tracks and previously released singles including ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’.

The album title reflects the amount of "real-life drama" Cardi B has experienced of late. Through her emotive lyrics she embraces the constant conversations about her personal and professional life, acknowledging that she's often the centre of attention, for all the wrong reasons!

The title also takes inspiration from a meme from the online Drag Race community, specifically a quote from Scarlet Envy.

The cover art features Cardi B in a red bodysuit with crows, symbolising loss and strength. She has also been seen wearing ‘Am I the Drama?’ themed outfits, including one featuring a live crow on her social media.

The album will feature 23 tracks and includes previously released singles that have been remixed to refresh to her fans. The new lead single from the album, ‘Outside,’ was released on June 20th and became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single, ‘Imaginary Players,’ is set to be released on August 15th.

It’s been a long time coming – but we definitely think Cardi B’s ‘Am I The Drama?’ is going to be worth the wait.

WILD REVERENCE – REBECCA ROSS

Teen and adult fantasy writer Rebecca Ross is back with a belter that has over 1080 ratings on Good Reads at 4.6 and 935 reviews. Despite being a one-time New York Times bestseller, Ross has pipped more popular authors to the top spot this month in the new releases ratings.

The book centres around the unlikely heroine Matilda and her protagonist love interest Vincent. Born in the firelit domain of the under realm, Matilda is the youngest goddess of her clan, blessed with humble messenger magic. But in a land where gods often kill each other to steal power and alliances break as quickly as they are forged, Matilda must come of age sooner than most. She may be known to carry words and letters through the realms, but she holds a secret she must hide from even her dearest of allies to ensure her survival. And to complicate matters, there is a mortal boy called Vincent who dreams of her, despite the fact they have never met in the real world.

Ten years ago, Vincent wrote to Matilda on the darkest night of his life, begging the goddess he befriended in his dreams to help him. When his request went unanswered, Vincent moved on, becoming the hardened, irreverent person who has long forgotten Matilda. That is, until she comes tumbling into his bedroom window with a letter for him.

As fate would have it, Matilda and Vincent were destined to find each other beyond dreams. There may be a chance for Matilda to rewrite the blood-soaked ways of the gods, but at immense sacrifice. She will have to face something she fears even more than losing her magic: to be vulnerable, and to allow herself to finally be loved.

With plenty of plot twists and turns this is one excellent piece of fantasy fiction that will entertain both teens and adults alike.

5 UNIQUE SURREY FOR A SEPTEMBER

SURREY SPOTS SEPTEMBER RESET

For many of us, September often feels like a natural pause or a fresh new chapter. After the whirlwind of Summer - whether you've been travelling, working flat out, or keeping the kids entertained - it's easy to arrive in Autumn feeling a little scattered. That's why this month is the perfect time to carve out a few hours just for you: to slow down, breathe and reconnect.

As a holistic healer, I see firsthand with my clients the importance of actively choosing to seek out peace and quiet and reconnection to themselves - especially after a tough or busy time. And sometimes, the best way to begin that process is as simple as stepping into nature, giving yourself space to reflect and allowing inspiration to flow back in.

Luckily for us, Surrey has some wonderful hidden gems that make this easy. Here are five of my favourite, lesser-known spots where you can find peace, creativity, reconnection or even a touch of spiritual refresh this September.

ICHI-COO PARK, CHARLWOOD

Open sporadically to the public (so keep an eye on their Instagram page), this is one of Surrey's best-kept secrets. Developed over 15 years by owner and keen gardener, Robin, a walk through Ichi-Coo Park will take you all around the world. From Japanese-inspired gardens with koi ponds, to Surrey's tallest 'jungle' and the rare plants of the 'Grand Canyon', through to locally themed designs like the Royal Mile, inspired by Windsor's famous Long Walk. Ichi-Coo Park is a beautiful mix of water, stone, sculpture, wildlife and clever planting that instantly shifts you into calm as you wander the paths and explore the hidden gems scattered all over its 16 acres. If you've been racing through summer and need to slow your pace, it's the perfect place to take a breath, drop your shoulders and rediscover your centre.

SILENT POOL DISTILLERY, ALBURY

The Silent Pool is a strikingly clear spring-fed lake with an almost mystical presence. Legends and folklore swirl around its history, most interesting the tale of how the Silent Pool got its name! (We don’t want to give too much away but the tours that are done here will explain all!)

It’s a truly stunning sight to take in and on a sunny day you can see the turquoise, blue and green waters and the most beautiful butterflies and dragonflies. It is surprising that when you visit here what you feel most is the stillness of the famous Silent Pool. Mirrored water reflecting back a sense of calm makes it a perfect spot to sit quietly, meditate or simply pause and notice the beauty around you. And be sure to take a journal to capture your thoughts and feelings inspired by this dream-like place.

Since the Silent Pool itself is relatively small, if you are craving a little more post-meditative adventure, you will find the Silent Pool Gin Distillery just a minute walk from here – they run insightful Tours and Events so stay tuned to Surrey Rocks Calendar on Page 17 for all their latest experiences. There is also a fantastic onsite distillery shop selling all their gins and other spirits, as well as a beautiful Terrace Bar to enjoy a chilled drink after your visit overlooking part of the Silent Pool.

Nearby there are also Tours around the Albury Organic Vineyard which backs onto the pool, and the stunning Newlands Corner nature reserve with its panoramic views across Surrey from a height of over 170 meters!

THE SCULPTURE PARK, CHURT

If you're craving inspiration as well as peace, The Sculpture Park is a treat. Imagine acres of woodland dotted with hundreds of sculptures, each one inviting you to pause and see the world a little differently. The cleverly curated works of art peek around every enchanting corner of woodland; their creativity mixing seamlessly into 2 miles of natural paths, lawns, lakes and seating areas. It's the perfect place to lose yourself! This combination of nature and art will ground your energy whilst simultaneously spark new ideas, so if your mind has been stuck on repeat this Summer, then take a walk amongst the trees at The Sculpture Park this September. Please note that to take in all the sculptures it is recommended to set aside a minimum of two hours to finish all the 4 trails on offer! It does take a while to get round if you really take in and admire the amazing artistry on display.

WAVERLEY ABBEY, FARNHAM

There's something truly special about the ruins of Waverley Abbey, not least due to its famous yew tree which is believed to have steadfastly watched over the surrounding land since 1536.

The site of the first Cistercian monastery in England, founded in 1128 by William Giffard, the Bishop of Winchester. The energy here is both peaceful and powerful. Surrounded by history, wildlife and nature aplenty - and with the River Wey flowing nearby - it's easy to lose an hour or two to reflection time and gentle walks.

Just across the bridge, you can stop for refreshments at The Cafe at Waverley Abbey, before walking the wellmaintained Waverley Abbey House gardens, including its trails and paths.

If you've been feeling a little out of touch with yourself lately, this is a beautiful spot to let go of responsibility and reconnect with history, nature and, most importantly, yourself.

STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING, GODALMING

If Summer has kept you stuck in your head - planning, organising or simply spinning through busy thoughts - stand-up paddleboarding along a beautiful stretch of the River Wey in Godalming is the perfect way to get back into your body. Roar Outdoor is a great place to visit combining nature and gentle exercise. They offer lessons and board hire sessions that combine movement, balance and the calming presence of water with its rhythm soothing your nervous system and naturally encouraging a meditative state.

As you paddle slowly through the peace of the canal, listening to the lapping water and catching close-up views of wildlife along its banks, you won't be able to help but drop into the present moment - feeling the movement of your body, focusing on your breath, and deeply reconnecting to your inner self. By the time you step back onto land, you'll be feeling lighter, clearer, and more at home in your own skin.

A LITTLE REMINDER

Whether it's grounding yourself in nature, finding creative inspiration or opening up to a sense of spiritual connection, these Surrey gems are waiting to support you. Taking a pause isn't indulgent - it's essential, and when we lovingly give ourselves that space, we come back to life with more clarity, joy and energy.

So, if the Summer has left you tired, scattered or in need of a reset, why not gift yourself a peaceful hour or two in one of these places? Sometimes, it's the quietest moments that bring the greatest shifts.

A/W 2025 TRENDS UNCOVERED

As we say farewell to Summer, swimsuits and sarongs we usher in the best of the Autum/Winter Collections from the cream of the crop of the Catwalks.

FEATURES

FAUX FUR

This Season, faux fur takes the crown as the hottest trend. Dominating all the major catwalks, from Chloe to Fendi, we saw beautiful faux furs in floor length styled coats, cropped jackets and even handbags. If you choose just one trend this season: make sure it's this. If it's something more subtle you're after, opt for woollen coats with a fur collar trim, like this timeless style by Chloe.

1. Chloe Shearling Trim Jacket, £3,669.00
2. Tutussie Sloane Fur Trim Jacket, £1,080.00
3. Stradivarius Cropped Faux Fur Jacket, £65.99

LUSCIOUS LIPS

Romance was certainly not dead on the A/W catwalks as a multitude of designers put the feminine back into Autumnal dressing. Full length sheer lace maxi dresses at Saint Laurent, lace trousers at Stella McCartney and lace trimmed slips at Alberta Ferretti added a delicate edge to the season. If you are apprehensive about full length styles, then opt for lace tops or more subtle lace trim detailing to add a touch of the trend to your style this Season.

1. Saint Laurent High Neck Mini Dress, £4,206.00
2. Saint Laurent Lace Bodie Long Dress, £5,886.00
3. Alberta Ferretti Sleeveless Dress, £2,227.92

VINTAGE VELVET

Velvet has been reclaimed as a must have fabric this Season. Designers proudly showcased the opulent fabric in beautiful jewelled tones; from burgundy and forest green to midnight navy and black. Styles included classic tailored suiting at Burberry and elegant evening gowns at Zimmermann. At Armani Prive, classic black velvet styles were adorned with glittering embellishments and oversized bows (another hot trend this season). Velvet has rightfully reclaimed its place in this Season's style stakes, offering versatility and tactile dressing suitable for both daytime and evening dressing.

1. Burberry Long Length Black Coat, £1,980.00
2. Burberry Cropped Burgundy Coat, £1,450.00
3. Kitri Carmella Green Velvet Dress, £185.00

FEATURES TIMELESS TAILORING

Always guaranteed to feature on the A/W 2025 catwalks, this Season tailoring has been given an 80’s overhaul. Think ‘Dynasty’, as broad shoulders and narrow waistlines add a touch of drama to your workwear. Power suits with wideshouldered blazers are paired with wide leg trousers or mini-skirts in bold colours and even metallics. Here at Surrey Rocks, we are obsessed with one-sleeve styles that make for a great day to evening transition.

2. Reiss Darcie Single Breasted Suit Jacket, £298.00
1. Ralph Lauren Plaid Cotton Blazer, £459.00
3. Jasper Conran Gwen Wool Silk Skirt, £250.00

FEATURES

RADIANT RED

Red has been given the green flag this Season as it confidently makes its resurgence in the colour trend stakes. Designers are using an array of hues from bright tomato and deep burgundy to cherry and cardinal red. This trend can be worn as statement pieces or to compliment more understated casual looks. Easily transitioned from day to evening, we are loving this trend paired with denim jeans - a staple wardrobe piece for any Woman's wardrobe.

1. Lily Silk Bow Tie Jasmine Blouse, £135.00
3. Club London Red Silk Dress, £55.00
2. Mint Velvet Red Side Stripe Trousers, £99.00

FROM MINT HOARDER TO MINT SELLER

Mandi Simms, from Walton-on-Thames, has learnt to “Let it all go!” - the self-confessed “hoarder” has done a total 360 acknowledging that her vast collection of clothing, shoes, books and bags were starting to take over her life and her home, affecting personal relationships and plummeting her into debt and despair.

Mandi has exclusively revealed she now only has one garage left of clothing whereas 10 years ago she had 5 lock ups (twice the size of her garage), 3 garages and a house crammed with her hoarded products. On her amazing journey to recovery, Mandi now sells literally thousands of her vintage items in her gorgeous store, the Mint Royale Emporium, in the Heart Shopping Centre in Walton-onThames, Surrey.

She is also an active member of the hoarding community, speaks publicly about hoarding and links with depression and sells online to raise funds for Hoarding UK, seeking to raise awareness of the condition that goes unnoticed in many walks of life.

Mandi’s advice: “Let it all go!”

Media savvy Mandi has also appeared in an episode of ‘Hoarders: Buried Alive’ for Channel 5, has been interviewed

for Women & Home Magazine and ITV News – among many significant others.

Here she tells her story to Surrey Rocks Magazine from the realisation of her condition 10 years ago to the reality of making her life change for the better:

"In 2015, I booked an appointment with my GP. I explained I was feeling dark and not coping very well. I also mentioned that I had ‘a lot of stuff’, and the doctor asked if I thought I could be experiencing hoarding disorder. She told me about a hoarding support group run by a local charity, Mary Frances Trust. Meeting people going through the same thing was invaluable. I also started antidepressants, had CBT and EFT (often known as tapping), and tried mindfulness.

In 2018, I accepted voluntary redundancy. As my hoarding had led to a lot of debt, I needed a way of improving my finances. I decided it was finally time to take control of the hoard by starting to sell my beautiful vintage clothes and accessories. However, I had so much of it that I couldn’t manage selling it online. Instead, I decided to set up a pop-up shop in my local shopping centre, with support from my local council and an organisation called Rainbow Rising, which helps local communities take over empty units to regenerate the high street. Local charity shops donated rails and hangers, and my friends rallied round to help.

“Mandi realised she was no longer in control of her possessions; they were taking over control of her.”

To support the charity Hoarding UK and create awareness around the subject of hoarding and mental health, in 2022 I launched Mint Royale Emporium. Talking to customers about my journey is like a therapy session every day. I don’t take a salary but I am selling my collection to raise funds for the charity and to help pay off my debts.

I was one of the first people to 'speak up and speak out' about the effects of hoarding disorder/behaviour via the Channel 5 show ‘Hoarders: Buried Alive’. They did not clear/ clean my house, as that's not the single answer; there is normally much more to think about and discuss.

want more people to understand the 'condition' is not a lifestyle choice, there is often a reason WHY, and this needs to be addressed, like most life coping mechanisms/addictions, although a hoard is very visible and can be very overwhelming.

I am very much about 'regaining my sparkle' and being on my journey out of the darkness, struggling with mental health, depression, and sadness, and now moving forward in my life. I want to share my knowledge, to create more awareness, and help others.

I do still go to charity shops, but the difference is that I no longer feel the constant need to purchase in order to be happy.

I no longer have the storage units, and I’m slowly starting to sell the items in my house. The process is long, arduous and full of emotion, but I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. One item at a time, I’m healing, and hopefully helping others to realise there is life after hoarding.”

THE GOSLING RESTAURANT

INTRODUCTION

We were blown away by our recent visit to The Gosling in Horsell. From the moment you walk through the doors into the immaculately-presented and striking reception- bar area, you're greeted with a smile from the ever-attentive front-of-house team (this time, we had the restaurant owner Nick Levantis on-site, so we knew we were in exceptionally good hands!)

We were then asked whether we would prefer to have a drink in the bar or go straight through for our lunch. As we were a bit pushed for time on this particular visit, we opted to go straight through and sit in the exquisitely decorated dining room.

INCREDIBLE INTERIORS

Designed by the brilliant Studio Vitor, the space is inviting and flows beautifully from the bar through the open kitchen and into the dining room. The main restaurant is divided from the bar by a glass screen, which adds to the atmosphere without intrusion. In the daytime, the restaurant and bar are bright and welcoming for brunch or lunch, before the beautifully designed lighting turns down for a more intimate evening service. The bespoke furnishings, with carefully chosen luxury fabrics and artworks, create a warm, inviting, and stylish experience. There is also a stunning outdoor covered dining terrace with floral displays and a patio, perfect for al fresco dining.

RESTAURANT REVIEW

COOL COCKTAILS

We ordered from the impressive cocktail menu. We chose their famous ‘Lychee Martini’, which was beautifully served with red strawberry powder "kisses" decorating the white foam. It was smooth, light, and fresh – a perfect summer cocktail.

We also tried their signature cocktail, ‘The Gosling’, made from Gosling’s Black Rum, Jägermeister, pineapple juice and lime juice – it really

packed a punch, with flavours that were perfectly balanced. On the recommendation of our fantastic Bar Manager, Roberto Vennari, our third taster went for French Martini.

SUPERB STARTERS

To start, we chose the ‘Grilled Wild Argentinian Prawns with Chilli, Garlic, and Parsley’. It was beautifully presented with five large, shell-on king prawns, grilled to perfection. The garlic and

RESTAURANT REVIEW

herb sauce was delicious, with plenty left over for dipping The Gosling’s delicious artisanal sourdough bread.

Next up was another mainstay on The Gosling’s starter menu, the courgette flower – a delightful medley of crispy cauliflower and dumplings filled with ricotta and spinach, accompanied by a lemon verbena oil. A winning dish.

Last, but by no means least, was the crispy lamb shoulder served with sticky soy sauce, green chilli, apple, and coriander – a taste explosion, with succulent shredded lamb and beautiful Japanese-infused flavours.

MASTERFUL MAINS

Next came the choice of 12 sumptuous mains. There are three steak options, including a

chateaubriand for two to share, served with house chips, peppercorn sauce, charred broccoli and dressed mustard leaf, or a 220g Black Angus fillet and a 300g Black Angus sirloin steak. These come with a choice of peppercorn, béarnaise or chimichurri sauce, and a selection of six tempting sides.

Our diner chose the Black Angus fillet steak, cooked medium-rare to perfection, served with the most delicious creamy peppercorn sauce and ultra-crispy house chips seasoned with rosemary and thyme salt. Succulent, flavourful and, in his words, “one of the best steaks” he had ever tried. You can’t get better than that!

Our second diner opted for the grilled corn-fed chicken breast, served with a peri-peri marinade and seasonal greens. It was subtly spicy, but not overpowering, and the chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. The broccoli was cooked perfectly al dente for that extra crunch, and the pomme purée, blended with chive butter and crispy shallots, was a winning side: smooth and full of flavour.

DECADENT DESSERTS

Our starters, mains, and cocktails had taken their toll on our appetites by this point. We politely declined dessert on this occasion, but because the meal had been so outstanding, we booked to return with a larger group the following week!

We’re intent on trying the glorious dessert menu, including Basque cheesecake with chocolate crumbs and mango sorbet; dark chocolate mousse served with salted caramel, hazelnut and black cherry; or the equally enticing Madagascan vanilla panna cotta with blackberries and honeycomb.

RESTAURANT REVIEW

AWARD-WINNING

The Gosling took home the top prize at the recent Surrey Awards 2025, winning the ‘Best Restaurant – Modern European’ category against stiff competition. The results showed this modern restaurant topped the polls in five categories: food, drinks, quality, ambience, and service. On the day of our review, the General Manager, Fernando Da Silva (who has served us on previous visits), was away on holiday – but the ever-charismatic owner, Nick Levantis, and his team, including Roberto Vennari (running the bar) and Deputy General Manager, Jonathan Gomez, attended to our every need. They were helpful, attentive and great fun, making our experience even more special. We will definitely be back!

COCKTAIL MASTERCLASSES, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT & MORE

Also on the menu at The Gosling are fun classes, experiences, and events. Shake things up with a hands-on experience at The Gosling’s Cocktail Masterclass, where you'll learn to craft three signature cocktails under the expert guidance of their brilliant bartenders. Each class includes: cocktail-making (and tasting, of course!), delicious canapés, and a relaxed, social atmosphere that's perfect for friends, dates, or solo adventurers – all for just £50 per person.

There is also a fantastic selection of Live Music Nights to enjoy – including a Frank Sinatra tribute and top local bands who’ve been making waves in the area. Check out our September calendar on page 17 for full listings of live music and experience dates.

After winning ‘Big Brother’ in 2016, Surrey-born ‘Bond’ star Jason forged a successful career in property and acting, starring in American action movie ‘The Serpent’, Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ alongside Hollywood heavyweights Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Glenn Close, Zoe Saldaña and Benicio del Toro,

CHILLSWIM FOR THE MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIETY

Our other celebrity SFW compère, Louis Mariette, meanwhile, has also been living the coastal dream whilst training in Mallorca and along the UK’s southwest coast for his charity swim this month.

Swimming end-toend of Lake Windemere, England’s largest lake, Louis will take on the Chillswim Challenge in aid of the Marine Conservation Society – the

leading environmental marine charity.

“I previously swam a 5-mile circuit of the lake and thought how fantastic if I could attempt the full 11-mile length!” Louis revealed to me. “I recently undertook a cool hardcore swimming session in Mallorca, swimming 5km around the coastline and running up mountains… you name it, I sweated it out!”

Nature-loving Louis was brought up in Malawi, Swaziland and Botswana and says water has always been part of his DNA. “I’ve completed three IRONMAN events and became even more passionate after getting my PADI,

diving into a whole new world… Swimming with marine life across Borneo and the Barrier Reef, I’ve even locked eyes with a humpback whale in French Polynesia.”

“I’ve witnessed first-hand the terrible ecological disasters mankind’s irresponsible behaviour creates and the heartbreaking decline of our oceans. - abundance of trash, plastics and pollution in our waterways, appalling fishing practices, coral bleaching, overdevelopment, destruction of rain forests, overpopulating... Our fragile ecosystems are struggling, and this can’t continue. If we all attempt small changes, we can make a difference, which helps when there are mass millions on our planet.”

All about sustainability, Louis’ fabulous hats feature natural fibres and embellishments, while his bejewelled collections, as recently showcased on Surrey’s own Amanda Holden at the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final and on singing sensation Beverley Knight, follow stringent sustainability legislation.

“I value and respect the importance to have sustainability in my wardrobe,” he explains. “Throw that pebble in the sea that surrounds us and those responsible practices we set will form ripples and inspire lands further afield. We are merely custodians of a planet that has existed for billions of years. Let’s embrace, cherish and RESPECT this precious blue planet.”

BARBER SEPTEMBER STYING

SFW & SEPTEMBER TRENDS

Of course, September isn't just about back-to-school trims and Autumn fresh start, it's also London Fashion Week. Every September, the capital becomes the beating heart of style, and this year the spotlight is shining on men's grooming and fashion in a big way. Think relaxed tailoring, slightly looser silhouettes, and haircuts that are just as effortless.

On the barbering side, we're seeing a move towards natural textures less over-styled, more lived-in. Mid-length crops, soft fringes, and fades that blend seamlessly rather than standing out are all trending right now.

Beards are also evolving, we're shifting away from the heavy, lumberjack-style beards of a few years ago. Instead, it's all about shorter, well-groomed facial hair that enhances the shape of your face without hiding it. Pair that with clean skin and subtle styling, and you're in step with what's coming off the catwalks.

HEALTHY HAIR MATTERS

One of the biggest conversations I'm having in the shop these days isn't just about the cut it's about hair health. Men are becoming more conscious about what they're putting on their hair and how to keep it strong in the long run. That's why I've brought in a fantastic product range called Heath Heath products are designed with men's modern lifestyles in mind. They're anti-pollutant, which means they help protect your hair from the grime and toxins we all face in the city. They also use black seed

oil, a natural powerhouse known for stimulating and promoting hair growth. On top of that, Heath is formulated with patented strengthening complexes that work to reinforce your hair from root to tip so it's not just about looking good today, but about maintaining healthier, thicker hair over time.

And for those dealing with thinning hair, there's another innovative option worth talking about: red light therapy. At Clean Cuts, we stock a redlight therapy cap, a piece of kit that uses low level light to stimulate the scalp and encourage stronger hair growth. It's not a service we offer in the chair, but

it's something you can purchase to use at home.

More and more men are starting to explore this as a natural, non-invasive way to support hair health, and it pairs perfectly with the right grooming routine.

So, whether you're coming in for a fade, looking to experiment with the new trends from Fashion Week, or simply wanting to take better care of your hair, you know where to find us.

Until next time, Sid x

Your SEPTEMBER Astrology Forecast from Pia Louisa SEPTEMBER 2025 Hot Stars!

Aries

21 MAR – 20 APR

You have so many ideas in your head, Aries, but with no clear plan on how to make them a reality. As someone who naturally loves a goal, you’re working without being on a clear path which can sometimes cause you to feel lost. It’s great that you’re able to dream big, but at this point in time, dreaming isn’t quite enough to get you to your next chapter. There are two very distinct sides to your personality. One that wants everything right now, and the other that is waiting for the perfect moment to start. Meet them in the middle and be grateful that you have two parts of yourself that want to help in such different ways. Have courage, Aries. You may not be exactly where you want to be right now but trust you will get there.

Taurus

21 APR – 20 MAY

The clouds have lifted, and you are stepping into the light, Taurus! Your mind has sharpened, and success is becoming a reality. The road ahead may be challenging, but at this point, you have faith that you will be triumphant in all your endeavours. However, you are starting fresh and have to treat this month as a brand new adventure. Victory isn’t necessarily going to come as fast as you hope, but through hard work you will get there. Don’t think about material gain for now, focus on honing your abilities and getting to the next level. Furthermore, September is a month of love for you Taurus! Whether this be new romantic love, or a relationship you are very happy in, take some time to appreciate the people most important to you.

Gemini

22 MAY – 21 JUNE

External sources are getting in the way of your creative projects coming to fruition. Something or someone is getting the way of you achieving your goals and dreams. Although this isn’t easy, it is a sign you must draw on your own self-reliance and confidence in order to push past these obstacles. Even though there has been struggle recently, you have gained a new perspective and now see your life in a different way. Your mind has opened up and when things get bad, you are able to find another way to get through. You’re not one to let others keep you down for long, as you always find a way to get yourself back up again. People rely on you Gemini. Although, it’s good to remember to use your power for good and not to misuse it.

Cancer

22 JUNE – 23 JULY

Strength is your middle name, Cancerian! Even when life feels overwhelming, you know you can always fall back on your own inner strength. Yes, it can be tiring feeling like you always have to be the strong one, but trust that if you need to break down every now and then (which we all do), there are people you can lean on. See this as your sign of encouragement for September. Your mind is in expansion mode, and you are now viewing life in a bigger way. You are embracing new ideas that come into your mind and are jumping at the opportunity to learn something new. This new outlook on life has come from a place of resisting what feels like an inevitable end. Remember that nothing is set in stone and that any day could bring unimaginable changes.

Leo

24 JULY – 23 AUG

You are very confident and successful when it comes to attracting good luck in your life, Leo. Not only are you great at figuring out where the best opportunities lie, you are also amazing at drawing on your own inner strength when luck just isn’t enough. Use this combination of trusting in the universe and yourself in September. Yes, it may sometimes feel that life has pushed you down sometimes, but deep inside you know that things have worked out well for you in the past, and they will do again. What’s meant for you will eventually find you. Whether that be a partner, a job, or a new friendship, know that life always has a plan. You may feel like you’re going through a test of faith at the moment but remember, nothing lasts forever.

Virgo

24 AUG – SEPT 3

If you have recently felt trapped by your circumstances, then September brings a welcome change. A situation way out of alignment with who you truly are has been weighing you down for far too long. Trust that a resolution is available, even if you have to try a few different routes first. As always with you Virgo, long-term success is at the forefront of your mind. You’re not interested in a ‘quick fix’ and much prefer to play the long game. When it comes to planning for the future, you are way further ahead than everyone else! However, with all this planning often comes high expectations, for yourself and others. It’s important to realise that not everything is going to go your way, at least not all at the same time. Patience is going to be important this month.

Libra

24 SEPT – 23 OCT

There are so many opportunities surrounding you Libra, but what is going to make you happy longterm? Yes, there is ‘magic’ around you at the moment, but don’t lose focus on what really matters. Take a step back this month and assess what will truly be of service to you moving forward. It’s also time to look at what you are attaching yourself to and what you can let go of. There may have been people and things that helped you in the past, but it is time to reevaluate if they are possibly not working for you anymore. They may even be doing more harm than good. However, remember Libra, (as it is typical of you) to not be unrealistic in your ideas for the future. You want everything and set incredibly high standards. Great things take time.

SCORPIO

24 OCT – 22 NOV

You may be feeling as if you’re going through a test of faith at the moment, Scorpio. Remember, when times are tough, you must make your mind a happier place to live in. Speak to yourself as if you are speaking to your best friend. It’s time to take authority over your own life. September is all about gaining control back. Stand up for yourself and don’t let anyone walk over you. Finally, you must forgive yourself for actions you made in the past. You didn’t know better at the time and weren’t fully equipped to handle the situation better. You’re a different person now and have grown in more ways than you realise. Keep an eye out for the number 16.

Sagittarius

23 NOV – 21 DEC

Resilience is your word for September, Sagittarius. This is a time for calling on your courage and pushing through tough moments. Nothing is going to break you. Furthermore, new ideas are going to come into your mind at random moments! You won’t even realise it, but a brand-new life-changing thought is going to pop into your head and make you rethink aspects of your life. September is an exciting month for you. Love and compassion are flowing through you freely right now. For the first time in a while, the world is seeing your love for life shining bright. At this moment, you ARE love. Look out for the number 11 this month and spend time with Aries and other Sagittarius friends.

Capricorn

22 DEC – 20 JAN

Release any guilt you feel, Cap. Trust yourself and live life based on how you feel in the present moment. You know what you deserve and what makes you happy, so there’s no need to worry about what others are thinking. Workwise, you are a natural entrepreneur, whether you are working for yourself, or for someone else. Taking on more responsibilities and proving how much you can do are high up on the agenda this month. There’s not much that can stop you! Finally, it’s time to embrace your feminine side. There’s a quiet strength to you that’s softer than people can see. You don’t need to show off and will get the job done without others realising. Keep an eye out for the number 27.

Aquarius

21 JAN – 19 FEB

September is a month of self-love, Aquarius. It seems you having been placing your attention towards other people’s happiness and neglected your own. Make sure to schedule in time to take care of yourself. This is going to be a lucky month for you, as the success you’ve been searching for is about to come into the light. Try not to worry so much, as you have worked so hard recently that you deserve some rest. Enjoy what’s to come! Finally, you may be feeling as if you have been through quite a lot of trial and error recently. Remember, there’s no such thing as ‘failure’, but if you do believe you have failed in certain areas, the best thing you can do it learn from it. You now know you won’t repeat the same mistakes.

Pisces

20 FEB – 20 MAR

Control is very important to you Pisces, and September will allow you to control areas of your life you have been scared of spiralling within. This doesn’t mean you become a ‘control freak’. You are just putting time and effort into cultivating a plan you already have in your head. There is an inner conflict going on inside your mind at the moment which may be causing some strain. One side of you wants one thing, and the other is craving something entirely different. Listen to both sides and come to your own conclusion; you have control. Finally, allow your selfconfidence to shine this month. You are worthy of every bit of attention you’re getting. Have faith in your greatness!

MI CASA ES SU CASA

We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors.

Your at-home retreat awaits

In a world that moves at full speed, finding moments of stillness is more important than ever. BoConcept invites you to embrace the Danish concept of hyggekrog—a cosy corner designed for comfort, calm, and disconnection from daily demands. Rooted in the tradition of Scandinavian well-being, hyggekrog is the inspiration behind BoConcept’s approach to the at-home retreat.

Creating your own sanctuary doesn’t require an entire room redesign. With just a few well chosen pieces, you can transform any space into a personal haven. Start with comfort-led design—BoConcept’s Bergamo sofa, with its deep, generous seating and relaxed, rounded silhouette, is made for slow living. Pair it with soft, tactile elements such as plush cushions and layered throws to invite warmth and texture into the space.

The soothing power of curves plays a key role in achieving a sense of calm. Statement pieces like the Bolzano sofa and Imola chair, with its sculptural, enveloping form, offer a cocoon-like effect—perfect for curling up with a book or

pausing with a cup of tea. For added harmony, opt for natural tones and materials that echo the outdoors, reinforcing a grounding, restorative atmosphere.

Light also plays an essential part in your well-being. BoConcept’s interior designers can help you maximise natural light and introduce mood-boosting accents, while made-to-measure curtains and blinds allow you to control brightness and privacy with ease.

Whether it’s a nook by the window, a softly lit corner of your living room, or a quiet outdoor spot, BoConcept’s collection supports the creation of restful environments designed for the way you live. This is not just about furniture—it’s about how you feel in your home. And with BoConcept, that feeling is one of comfort, calm, and joy.

To discover more ways to design for comfort, visit BoConcept Guildford at 89 Woodbridge Road, or find them on the 2nd Floor at Fenwick Kingston. You can also explore the full collection and get inspired online at BoConcept.com.

At Jonathan Rowlandson Design we have provided a unique design and build service for a range of clients for over 20 years. With an emphasis on innovative, contemporary design solutions we have risen to the challenge of every project, interior or exterior. Combining our unique approach to metal items with wood, glass, stone, and other materials. At JRD we offer a range of furniture items including the Otolo range. We also design and produce items sympathetic to their environment, be it a rustic bar restaurant with an artisan feel – normally providing seating, counters, bars, lighting, signage, etc. such as Dog Star Brixton – or one-off sculptural items such as the tables for Vivienne Westwood. Our inspiration will often come from the clients’ desires, as well as tapping into nature and art to find a suitable solution. Hardly any 2 projects are the same, we continue to provide new and hopefully better designs.
