everyone’s talking about... celebrities AUCTION BRINGS KATE MOSS, ABFAB & DOWNTON FASHION TO SURREY
A star-studded charity auction has raised over £23k for Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. Curated by actress and comedian Jane Horrocks (aka Bubble in hit show ‘Absolutely Fabulous’), ‘The Diary of a Wardrobe’ auction at Ewbanks in Woking saw close to 60 items kindly donated by some of the UK’s most-loved celebrities go under the hammer. Many auction lots came with exciting backstories, personal photographs or handwritten notes from the celebrity donors, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Stephen Fry, Twiggy, Lulu and Dame Emma Thompson. “Dame Joanna Lumley donated a beautiful Chanel jacket that she wore as Patsy, her character in 'Absolutely Fabulous', supermodel Kate Moss donated fabulous bespoke 'So Kate' Louboutin shoes and David Tennant donated shoes he wore on ‘Comic Relief’,” says Jane. “We also had red-carpet outfits from Dame Julie Walters, Vic Reeves’ glasses, and goggles worn by Sir Ralph Fiennes on his North-to-South Pole travels.”
Genuine ‘Downton Abbey’ costumes included the auction’s top seller, a gold evening dress worn by Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), along with a suit worn by Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), while a costume from the new Amy Winehouse 'Back to Black' film was also up for grabs.
"It was so much fun! Playing at being an auctioneer myself with the gavel was a blast, but the real thrill was seeing bids coming through and the total raised for Marie Curie, an amazing charity so close to my heart… Knowing what a difference it makes is phenomenal. Congratulations to all successful bidders and a big ‘thank you’ to the generous celebrities and VIPs who donated pieces to help make it such a unique and successful event!"

BECKHAM SHOW ROCKED BY CRUZ CHEATING CLAIMS
Victoria Beckham’s first Paris Fashion Week Show expo was overshadowed by her youngest son Cruz – who is at the centre of two cheating scandals by two former girlfriends.
Victoria, with the support of her family by her side, was showcasing her Spring 2025 Victoria Beckham Collection in Paris when the headlines hit.
The first allegation came from Norweigan singer Bby Ivy who shared a video on Tik Tok of the former couple kissing with the caption, “This is how we were together and he still cheated.”
This was quickly backed up by Issey Moloney, another of 19-year-old Cruz’s exes who reshared the video with the caption, “When he thought you would never find out about each other but now you’re best friends.”
Cruz is the youngest son of the Beckham clan, with older brothers Romeo and Brooklyn and younger sister Harper.
He is obviously having “the time of his teenage life” as he hooked up with the Brazilian singer/songwriter Jackie Apostel at Glastonbury this Summer, following his brief relationships with both Issey and Bby Ivey also this year. Busy boy Cruz also had time to take out the stunning Brit model Tana Holding.
And that’s just the 4 we know about!

FOR HIM WHAT'S TRENDING... #HALLOWEENCOSTUMES
Happy Halloween guys. Are you going to any parties? Are you looking to dress to impress? Well take note of this handy guide detailing the best costumes out there.
The easiest and best way to make an impression is to go for full on make-up like the skeleton shown here. Most local make-up artists can recreate the look for you – just make sure to book in advance as they will get busy on Halloween weekend. We can recommend ‘Make-up By Jana’ as one of the best in Surrey.
If you are after a great mask instead of make-up head to Amazon and pick up this full head creepy skull mask for only £15.99. And what’s great about this is you only have to wear a suit with it to look scary at any party.
The skeleton outfit is easy to get online too. We found this one from men’s clothing store, Wowdue Shop and it’s only £32.
If you want to go all out, opt for a classic outfit like Freddy Krueger from ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ available at Amazon for only £29. This costume comes with a tattered sweater, printed with burn marks, claws and mask. Throw on an old brim hat to finish the look.
We also love the ‘Beetlejuice’ outfits at Halloween Costumes and they come in at under £40 if you are a new customer you can get 15% off your first order this month.
If you have cash to splash you can head to online retailer Joke and pick up this men’s Frankenstein costume for £67.99. You can be disguised behind this humongous green Frankenstein facepiece and black suit jacket with inflatable shoulder pieces to ensure you tower over everyone at your party.
A great look that always goes down a treat with the ladies is a classic ‘Top Gun’ boiler suit with aviator sunglasses. You will look good in uniform, as is the case with all men (!), and it can be worn again for painting/decorating! You can get the men’s military green overalls for only £22 on Amazon at the moment. Sew on a few patches from any good army store and you are good to go.
Have a happy Halloween all!
NEWS FOR HER WHAT'S TRENDING... #HALLOWEENCOSTUMES
Look glamourous at any Halloween parties this year with our indispensable costume guide.
With the return of cult film ‘Beetlejuice’ everywhere get in on the gothic trend with a black and white striped suit and green accessories. You can pick the suit up for under £35 at Boohoo. And as you can see from the ridiculously cute mini ‘Beetlejuice’ kids outfits they are easy to recreate at home for the kids. You can pick them up from online retailer Temu for £12.
Disney princesses are always classy and creative. Celebs such as Kim K and Gwen Stefani have rocked this look before, now it’s your turn.
We also love the daring outfits that model Heidi Klum wears and this blue buddha outfit is a real gem. And who can forget Rita Ora’s daring skeleton dress.
If you want to go glam choose this Jessica Rabbit inspired outfit from PLT at only £42 complete with red sequin dress, purple gloves and microphone.
Or go all out for a mischievous Mad Hatter costume from The Beauty Cave Boutique for only £45.
If you hit up the other online boutiques such as ASOS, Boohoo and Pretty Little Thing there is a wide range of Halloween costumes to buy this October. This 3-piece sexy bat costume from PLT costs £55 and you can get 25% off with the voucher code: GET25.
Elsewhere for more casual Halloween glamour we love this Boohoo bodycon jersey skeleton dress, a snip at only £18.
If you want a really easy go to Halloween outfit pick a white dress (or underwear if you dare!) add fangs for £1 from Poundland and ghoulish bite marks on the neck and go as ‘Bride of Dracula’ like the model here. Or opt for this cool choker from ASOS for £12 if you don’t want to risk getting red make-up stains on your white attire! Happy Halloween!

RECIPE
MILD CHICKEN, CHICKPEA & SQUASH CURRY
This great Autumnal dish from Jamie Oliver is a winter warmer with great flavours and spice.
INGREDIENTS
• 600g butternut squash
• 2 onions
• 1 bunch of fresh coriander (30g)
• vegetable oil
• 2 heaped tablespoons korma paste
• 2 free-range skinless chicken breasts
• 50g ground almonds
• 500ml organic chicken stock
• 1 x 400g tin of chickpeas
• mango chutney
• 2 tablespoons natural yoghurt
METHOD:
1. Scrub 600g of butternut squash (deseed, if necessary) and peel 2 onions, then chop into rough 1cm chunks. Pick the leaves from 1 bunch of fresh coriander (30g), and finely chop the stalks.
2. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil into a large casserole pan, add the squash, onions and coriander stalks, then cook for 15 minutes, stirring regularly.
3. Stir in 2 heaped tablespoons of korma paste and cook for a further 5 minutes, or until the veg has started to soften.
4. Slice 2 chicken breasts into 3cm chunks and add to the pan with 50g of ground almonds, stirring well to coat.
5. Tip in 500ml of chicken stock and 1 x 400g tin of chickpeas (juices and all), then cook for 8 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the
sauce has thickened, stirring regularly.
6. Stir most of the reserved coriander leaves through the sauce with 1 teaspoon of mango chutney, then season to taste with sea salt and black pepper.
7. Ripple 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt through the sauce and scatter over the reserved coriander leaves, then serve fluffy rice or naan bread, and extra mango chutney.
WINE MATCH
When choosing what wines to pair with butternut squash you have to consider the sweetness of the dish. Flavour rich whites like Oak-Aged Chardonnay, Rhône varietals such as Viognier, Roussanne and and Chenin Blanc either on its own or in a South African Cape white blend.
If you want a red we’d recommend going for a warming Côtes du Rhône or similar wine made from Rhône varietals like Grenache.
MOVIE REVIEW ALBUM REVIEW BOOK REVIEW
JOKER 2
The new, highly anticipated Joker 2 film ‘Joker : Folie a Deux’ will be hitting our screens on October 4th. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, the film is already being billed as the cinematic hit of the year.
It’s been a 4-year hiatus since the first ‘Joker’ in 2019, which won Phoenix an Oscar for ‘Best Actor’, so naturally there are big expectations with the second instalment.
Directed by ‘The Hangover’s’ Todd Phillips and produced by ‘Silver Lining Playbooks’ Bradley Cooper this time it is no surprise, with such a stellar team behind the film including Warner Bros. and DC Comics, that this is the film to watch this October.
What is a surprise, however, is how much attention is being lavished on the costume department. The Joker played by Phoenix was papped behind the scenes in scenes from the film wearing a grungy, brown suit- tipped to be the fashion item of the year. While brown is not usually a popular colour, with homages to grandads everywhere, the effortlessly cool Phoenix pulls this off with panache.
If the hype is to be believed, this will be another major hit, with comedy, horror, dramatics and fashion playing an equal role in its success – ‘Joker : Folie a Deux’ is set to be another Academy Award Winner and a major hit at the Box Office this month.
MOON MUSIC – COLDPLAY
‘Moon Music’ is the upcoming 10th studio album by British band Coldplay. It is set for release by Parlophone in the UK and Atlantic Records in the US this month being the sequel to ‘From Earth with Love’ on their Music of the Spheres project.
This is the first time the band has released new music since their hit album in 2021. Having just played at Festivals this Summer the new music from the album is going down well with fans.
The lead single from ‘Moon Music’ is ‘Feels Like I’m Falling in Love’ a Coldplay classic with great beats and a music video shot in Athens, Greece reportedly costing £3m to make – ranking as the most expensive music video ever recorded.
The second single ‘We Pray’ is a collaboration with Little Simz, Burner Boy, Elyanna and Tini.
The album cover features a moonbow shot, taken by Argentine photographer Matías Alonso Revelli. Coldplay contacted him directly to use the picture, and while he offered numerous other versions, the band ultimately maintained their initial choice.
The 10-track album is being released on October 4th. Coldplay have been on the music scene for 27 years now having formed in 1997, and are made up of lead singer and pianist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Merry man and drummer Will Champion.

SHAB EXCLUSIVE
Ahead of the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, global pop sensation SHAB proudly announces the release of her next single, ‘Swerve’, which dropped to critical acclaim on September 27th.
This is the second release from her upcoming 21-track album ‘One Suitcase’, a powerful narrative of her journey from escaping radical fundamentalism in Iran to forging a new life in America, exploring profound themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery. A young girl, she arrived in New York City completely alone, the last of her 13 brothers and sisters to escape Iran, not knowing any English and holding a single suitcase. SHAB’s story is rising from unimaginable hardship to global stardom.
‘Swerve’ delves into the excitement of a new romantic relationship, turning the initial uncertainties into a playful game for two. The song’s infectious heavy club beat makes it an instant dance-floor filler, compelling listeners to move. Its dark, edgy, and alluring vibe is meticulously crafted to captivate and enthral, creating an atmosphere that’s both thrilling and intimate. Co-composed by Damon Sharpe (Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Kylie Minogue), SHAB, and JHart (Justin Bieber, Kygo, Sabrina Carpenter), ‘Swerve’ draws you into a world where romance and rhythm intertwine seamlessly.
Catching up with SHAB about her new single release she said, “This is so exciting, we have all been tirelessly working behind the scenes on ‘Swerve’ and I love it. We used a motorcycle in the video, it’s so bad ass! It tells the story of how you ride through life and swerve negativity and anything that brings you down. It’s all about my life motto, ‘to enjoy life and live life to the fullest. We are all on the ride of our lives!’
“I really hope my fans are going to like it. It’s a passion project. Music has always been my healing and this is one of the greatest tracks I’ve worked on,” SHAB revealed.
A rising star across three continents, SHAB’s sophomore double album ‘One Suitcase’ is a volume that stands as a profound reflection of her incredible personal journey. A refugee from the authoritarian regime in Iran, SHAB arrived alone as a young teenager in New York, speaking only Farsi and German and carrying all of her worldly possessions in a single hand-carried suitcase. She learned English while in secondary school while working three different jobs, but not only graduated from university but also briefly attended law school before leaving to pursue writing and performing music full-time. SHAB since has become a leading entertainment industry voice for women’s rights in Iran and in bold defiance of what she has labelled ‘the gangster regime’ in Teheran. As radiant and alluring as ever, ‘Swerve’ follows SHAB’s July issue of ‘Afterglow’, the first release from ‘One Suitcase’ and a sun-soaked contemplation on love, celebrating romance and sensuousness in all its glory. Also composed by Damon Sharpe, SHAB, and JHart, her beautiful, soft melodies confess her everlasting love and passion while featuring funky basslines and infectious rhythms.
The year 2023 was a landmark year for SHAB, cementing her status as a formidable force
in pop. Her collaboration with the legendary hip-hop artist Fat Joe on the hit single ‘VooDoo’ became a sensation, breaking into the Top 40 on both the Rhythmic and Pop Music charts. The track, a brilliant blend of SHAB’s debut single ‘Spell on Me’ and Fat Joe’s iconic ‘Lean Back, became the most Shazamed song on Apple Music during the weeks after its release.
This achievement was preceded by the release of her Latinflavoured single ‘Dolce Vita’ as well as her superpower-charged anthem to individual female empowerment, ‘Indestructible’, both of which rapidly gained currency on the European club scene. With ‘Afterglow’, SHAB is set to continue this streak, making 2024 the year.
SHAB first gained attention in the Western Hemisphere in late 2020, when her earliest releases earned her the label of “breakout star of the global pandemic.” During the lockdown, SHAB scored an impressive five consecutive #2
rankings on the Music Week British Commercial Pop Charts. SHAB’s debut album, ‘Infinite Love’, received immediate critical acclaim, with critics describing her unique electronic dance sound as “energising global pop that is both effortless and memorable.”
These remarkable achievements - combined with over 25 million YouTube views, 13 million Spotify streams and a rapidly growing global fanbase - attest to her talent and skill to consistently create chart-topping hits. She has seen recent feature coverage in Wonderland, Daily Mirror, Daily Express, The Independent, Big Issue, Hot Press and METAL Magazine and on the covers of FHM, Marie Claire and Surrey Rocks.

ALLEGRA ANNOUNCES DEBUT LP ‘UNSENT LOVE LETTERS VOL 1
Heralded as one of the UK’s standout talents, Londonbased star Allegra broke the dance music scene last year with her collaboration with Tiësto on a remix of her track ‘Round & Round’. This success launched her into the spotlight with a #1 hit on the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart, which was followed by the dance-floor anthem ‘Love You Right Back’, featuring the acclaimed DJ Alok. Now, she’s maturing and seizing control with the release of her debut EP ‘Unsent Love Letters Vol.1’, produced by Tim Gosden. Scheduled for release on September 27th, the collection of songs is poised to be her most honest work to date, uncovering hidden love letters and encapsulating the several stages of a break-up.
The EP’s lead single, ‘Strangers’, that hit the airwaves on August 30th, delves into the aftermath of a broken relationship and the wish that it had never happened. Departing from the dance-pop fusion seen in her recent hits, ‘Strangers’ marks a new chapter, showcasing Allegra’s emerging emotive pop style. The infectious single comes with a playful music video, filmed in the heart of her hometown, London. Describing the video, Allegra shared “It’s a really fun video. There is a figure at the beginning of the video who represents my boyfriend, and then it ends. It goes through the process of being with him and leaving, then walking through the city, wishing you were strangers and feeling completely empowered.”
Allegra’s journey from breakout club hits to crafting a collection of deeply personal tracks showcases her versatility, as she continues to captivate audiences with her distinctive fusion of emotive pop and dance music. Her ability to intertwine vulnerability with empowerment ensures that ‘Unsent Love Letters Vol.1’ will leave a lasting impression, marking the next phase of her already impressive career. The diary-like lyricism of the EP reveals
the singer’s intimate side, creating an overarching narrative of self-love and independence designed to empower women.
Speaking on the EP, Allegra shared “Each song is an unsent love letter with a different storyline. It goes from heartbreak, to going through the process of a breakup, to realizing I’m a boss ass woman! But the EP is raw and vulnerable. I’ve always had this thing about love letterswhen I was younger and got upset, I would write letters and never send them. It’s how you get your feelings out.”
The upcoming second EP track, ‘Upgraded’, blends a melancholy vibe with deeply uplifting lyrics, capturing the realization that she is better off after the heartbreak. Combining heartfelt vocals, ethereal piano and subtle production, Allegra passionately chronicles the beautiful early stages of romance and its unraveling into an unhealthy relationship, ultimately leading her to leave the partnership stronger and ready to move on. ‘Refund’ begins to lift the mood, boldly proclaiming self-worth after a period of pain and sadness. Channeling the seductive, confident style of Tate McRae, the song fuses arpeggiating synths with a hypnotic rhythm, showcasing Allegra’s unique talent for melodic, emotionally-driven songwriting. The track is sure to captivate female listeners with its relatable theme, inspired by the desire to "get a refund or a return" for the past relationship. Closing the EP, ‘Rain’ depicts Allegra’s newfound freedom and embrace of life as she reaches the final stage of her break-up. With its enchanting electronic instrumentation, the track is reminiscent of notable mainstream artists like Dua Lipa, Rita Ora, and Mimi Webb. It sets the tone for her journey toward self-discovery, offering a dazzling glimpse of what’s to come.
Tim Gosden, the producer of both ‘Strangers’, and Allegra’s first EP ‘Unsent Love Letters’, has achieved remarkable success in the music industry. Having produced and co-written tracks for an impressive roster of artists including Tiestö, Alok, Becky Smith (Nicky Romero, Gamper & Dadoni) and many more. His work has reached number 1 positions on the Music Week Chart in 2023 and 2024, accumulated tens of millions of streams and garnered mainstream radio recognition across numerous releases. Tim is widely recognised as one of the most sought-after producers in the pop music industry.
With the release of ‘Unsent Love Letters Vol.1’, Allegra is poised to further solidify her position as a significant talent on the rise.

NATIONAL DOMESTIC ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH
October is National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.
Sadly, domestic abuse is one of the biggest killers in our society with approximately 168 women murdered by their partners a year and 100 domestic abuse related offences recorded every hour in the UK.
Domestic abuse can be controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour or violence and abuse between family members or partners. Its more widespread than you think and can happen to anyone regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, orientation or income. The East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (ESDAS), said on the subject, “Understand that it’s not easy to accept that a loved one can behave like this. Often because you cannot justify or explain the behaviour, you assume that it is your fault. You are not to blame for the abuse.”
High profile female celebrities including Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Reese Witherspoon, Mandy Moore, Halle Berry and Fearne Cotton have come forward with their domestic abuse stories shocking the press – including reports of broken bones for Aguilera and black eyes for Rihanna.
time and what made it worse is we lived abroad so he was able to isolate me from friends and family, and as he took my phone away from me I had no way of calling for help on particularly brutal nights.”
“If that wasn’t bad enough he coercively controlled me and financially abused me, stealing over £50K off me. He was a complete paranoid rollercoaster – high then low. I was his punchbag for the low moments. My jaw is still misaligned from an attack and I have scars all over my body including a 4 inch one from a knife wound to my back that he wouldn’t allow me to go to hospital to get treated. It wasn’t until 4 days later that I passed out as it had turned sceptic. He didn’t even bandage or treat it – just stuck a piece of tissue and sellotape on it. The doctors said I could have died from the severity of the blood poisoning.
Surrey Rocks reader, Eve, wanted to share her story in the hope that it would give other women the courage to leave before it’s too late. “During our 9-year relationship my ex subjected me to regular beatings, bitings, bruises, strangulations and cutting me knives or razors. In one particularly savage attack he grabbed a carving knife and held it to my neck telling me he was going to slit my throat. Another time had me on the floor with his hands around my neck strangling me for over a minute…I literally saw my children’s faces flash before my eyes as I struggled for breath. I knew I was seconds away from dying.”
In addition to physical abuse, financial abuse and sexual abuse which is common in domestic violence cases, psychologists warn about the sever after effects of abuse. There is a huge psychological burden. Typical psychological effects of domestic violence include post-traumatic stress reactions and mild to severe depression. Domestic violence is also associated with increased suicidal behaviours.
As another survivor Louise told us, ”As my ex-partner was a boxer with links to serious organised crime he told me he would have me killed if I ever left him. He said it would only cost him £500 and he would make it a slow painful death. A stabbing or a gunshot where he’d let me bleed out in pain. It was so sick he’d actually planned it, had the money and knew the people. Honestly, I am terrified. I still wake up three or four times a night in absolute fear, either from nightmares about previous sustained attacks or nightmares about someone coming into my room to kill me.”
“I would say he was violent weekly. He also checked my phone, email and social media daily interrogating me for hours about every message on his paranoid whims. I had heart palpitations’ every night when I put the kids to bed where he would just scream, shout and eventually turn violent. I was petrified the whole
Despite being treated for post-traumatic stress due to marital conflict, the NHS counselling she was assigned to alleviate the PTSD was unhelpful for Louise as the psychologist explained that there was no way she could be properly treated her for ‘POST’ Traumatic Stress as the death threats she had received from her abusive ex were real. She likened it to treating soldiers in wars, except a lot of domestic abuse victims are still in that war, with fear of an aftermath of attacks, so they never get to heal.
Talking to Louise about how she was able to overcome her abuse nightmare, she explains that she hasn’t.
”This has affected me for life, I still wake up scared, shivering, shaking and trying not to have panic attacks. It has affected my relationships, my health and mental health. I have been suicidal at times.”
According to a recent report there is at least one domestic abuse v2ictim suicide every four days and murder by a partner or family member every three days. And sadly, victims and perpetrators are known to many other agencies and the police. The Domestic Abuse Commissioner, Nicole Jacobs, said, “Every life lost to domestic abuse is one too many and a failure by our systems.”
Unfortunately, her statement could have been her demise. He killed her and her family, before turning the crossbow on himself. Kyle is now paralysed and will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair and prison. In a statement released after the deaths of his wife Carol, and daughters Hannah and Louise, BBC racing commentator John Hunt spoke of "devastation on an unimaginable scale."
Luckily victims of domestic abuse will be better protected from vile perpetrators under new plans to strengthen the police's fight against violence towards women and girls, announced by the Home Secretary last month. Marking the first step in the government's pledge to halve violence against women in the next decade, a key element of the wider mission to take back our streets, domestic abuse specialists will be embedded in 999 control rooms.
This brings us back to the headline news this Summer, when 26-year-old Kyle Clifford brutally murdered his ex- girlfriend Louise (26) her sister Hannah (28) and mum Carol (61) with a crossbow. The women fought for their lives and got messages to police but it was too late. You can only imagine how harrowing their last minutes were as they saw their beloved family members bleed to death in front of them.
Louise's friends, have provided statements about the extent of Kyle's abuse - but would not do while their friend was alive. According to these multiple reports, Kyle abused his girlfriend on a daily basis going through her phone, not permitting her to wear make-up or go out in public without him and cutting her off from friends and family members. Louise ended the relationship with Kyle 5 days before her murder and eerily posted on Twitter days before her death how she has respect for "women that walk away from abusive relationships."
This new initiative will ensure calls for help are treated with the urgency needed and victims get the specialist support they need straight away. This will form part of 'Raneem's Law', in memory of Raneem Oudeh and her mother Khaola Saleem, who were murdered by Raneem's ex-husband in 2018. There were 13 reports made to the police about concerns for Raneem's safety, with no arrests made. On the night she was killed, she rang 999 four times.
The government will fund this pilot in targeted police forces from early 2025. Specialists with expertise in domestic abuse will be embedded in 999 control rooms to advise on risk assessments and work with officers on the ground, to ensure that victims get a fast response when needed and are referred to support services as quickly as possible.
These specialists will be backed up by dedicated teams to improve how the police respond to these kinds of calls, including using new technology to respond more quickly such as rapid video response.
If you, or someone you know, is affected by domestic violence, call to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (1-800-799-7233), where trained counsellors can listen and help to figure out next steps.

RESTAURANT REVIEW
THE FOX DINING ROOMS
We were blown away by our recent review at the The Fox dining rooms – fresh, quality ingredients and an impressive menu created by head chef Dan Da Costa and his 15 strong, awardwinning team.
Located in the beautiful 19th-century Manor House at Foxhills in Ottershaw set among 400 acres of the most tranquil Surrey scenery, The Fox dining rooms presents luxurious dining across three individually designed rooms. A big nod goes to Foxhills owner and designer extraordinaire Pam Hayton who was the mastermind behind the majority of The Fox dining rooms décor.
OUR EXPERIENCE
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the restaurant manager Reynold and friendly staff and shown to our table in their famous Music Room; with high ceilings and beautiful African inspired artwork adorning the walls. It was truly breathtaking.
We were also kindly allocated a bay window table with stunning views across the famous manor lawn, perfect
for watching the sunset over the historical manor and its impeccable grounds.
It was also good to see how busy the restaurant was for midweek dining on a Wednesday night, with a large group of 20 in the neighbouring Orangery Room and 10 other tables occupied in the main Music Room.
We were asked if we wanted to choose from the ‘A La Carte Menu’ with 15 tantalising Starter, Main and Dessert Options or ‘The Seasonal Set Menu’ where you can choose 2 courses for £35 or 3 courses for £40 with delights such as Butternut Squash Veloute, Pan Roasted Seabass and Baked Vanilla Cheesecake on the 9-option Menu.
We opted for the ‘A La Carte Menu’ and we were pleasantly surprised with our option from start to finish.
COCKTAIL HEAVEN
Before our food orders were taken we were kindly offered an aperitif. With 16 tantalising cocktails we were spoilt for choice. We opted for the signature The Fox Punch, a fruity cocktail created with Vodka and Coconut Rum – the perfect refresh and start to the evening – packed with flavour and that ideal kick start.
Elsewhere, the Bubble Gum Martini took our fancy, a mixture of The Fox dining rooms liqueurs, perfectly sweet and bursting with flavour this really took our testers fancy. Not usually on the menu but the managers favourite tipple, so we thought it appropriate to try. Thanks!
RESTAURANT REVIEW
SENSATIONAL STARTERS
With such a wide-ranging Menu at The Fox dining rooms - catering for all food types including Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free - we struggled to choose.
On the helpful advice of our attentive waitress we went for the Cured Salmon & Trout Mosaic. A sublime blend of succulent fish steak pieces cured in citrus, matcha, sea herbs, pear and star anais puree. The flavour of the salmon and trout was perfectly offset by the matcha, fruit and aniseed from the star anais. A must try dish, beautifully presented.
Next up, we went for the Ham Hock Terrine. Served with a delicious apple gel, celeriac remoulade and pickled walnut. Again, a taste explosion. The apple and ham combination were a match made in heaven and the celeriac gave the dish an added kick as did the crunch of the walnuts.
Definitely to be sampled on our next visit will be the Grilled Mackerel with compressed watermelon, sourdough and cucumber gazpacho, which our neighbouring table went for. This looked utterly delicious and so well presented. As did the Jerusalem Artichoke, served on a bed of thick, doughy crumpet oozing with the sweetest truffle sauce.
Again, the abundance of choice in The Fox dining rooms menu was terrific, and will definitely keep diners coming back for more. We were sold and we have booked to come back already!
RESTAURANT REVIEW
MASTERFUL MAINS
This was another hard course to narrow down. With Barbary Duck Breast, Pan Roasted Sea Trout and a Smoked Feta & Beetroot Parcel all taking our fancy on the A La Carte Menu, the decision to go for the Roasted Lamb Rump & also the Ribeye Steak wasn’t an easy one.
However, after talking to the head chef Dan Da Costa who admitted the Lamb Rump was one of his personal favourites we knew we had made the right decision.
The lamb was fresh, succulent and so tender it melted in the mouth. It was served with two large lamb fat carrots, lavage & anchovy pesto and finished off with drizzles of the tastiest goat’s curd and jus. Meat – tick, Veg – tick, Cheese – tick, Sauce – tick. Al boxes were ticked with this Masterful Main staple. Thanks for the recommendation Dan.
Next up, we went for the 8oz Himalayan dry aged ribeye steak, cooked perfectly medium rare with the tastiest Peppercorn Sauce (Béarnaise, Black Garlic and Chilli Butter were also offered on the Menu) this was served alongside the crispiest,
chunkiest triple cooked chips, balsamic tomato and roasted shallots.
On the recommendation of Reynold, we went for the masterly and elegant Malbec Alpataco to accompany our main course, the Argentinean red wine was pure perfection with the lamb and steak dishes.
DECADENT DESSERTS
Despite starting to fill up we knew we were in for yet another treat and just had to try the fabulous Dessert Menu at The Fox dining rooms.
We went for the Coconut Baked Alaska which consisted of whipped peaks of meringue in the perfect shape of a rose, served with white chocolate, custard and raspberry and lime
sorbet to decorate. It really looked too good to eat as our pictures here show. However, we did. And we consumed it all in mere minutes! It really was that amazing.
The Espresso Crème Brulee - our second choice of dessert was so smooth and creamy - and what an amazing blend of delicious flavours. By no means second choice! The fizz of the burnt orange accompaniment was just sublime in this ever-creative dessert choice. And we loved the hazelnut tulle, plus the Mandarin and Cointreau sorbet really offset the coffee flavours with panache.
Well done The Fox dining rooms, you have done it again.

itchy scalps and dandruff, which can be caused by the cold weather and indoor heating. But don't worry, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your scalp healthy through the colder months:
• Moisturising shampoo and conditioner - Look for ones that contain hydrating ingredients like coconut oil or argan oil to lock in moisture.
• Over-washing - Washing too often can strip away natural oils that keep your scalp healthy. Try to stick to 2-3 washes a week.
• Scalp massage - Giving your scalp a little massage when shampooing helps to increase blood circulation and reduce dryness.
• Watch the water temperature - I know, a hot shower feels amazing on a chilly day, but it can actually dry out your scalp. Keep the water lukewarm instead.
• By taking a little extra care of your scalp, you can avoid the flakiness and itchiness that often come with the season. Plus, healthy hair always starts with a healthy scalp!
MOVEMBER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
As we move into November, it's time to talk about Movember. The global movement where men grow moustaches to raise awareness for men's health, particularly issues like prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
The idea is simple: start the month clean-shaven and let your moustache grow all month long. Movember is all about starting conversations and encouraging men to talk about their health. It's not just for the lads either; everyone can get involved by supporting the cause, whether that's growing a 'mo’ or donating to someone who is.
In the barbershop, we always love seeing how creative people get with their Movember looks. If you're planning to participate and aren't sure what style to go for, drop by the shop, and we'll help you shape something sharp and stylish -whether it's a classic handlebar or something more modern. And keep an eye out for local events and fundraising activities around Surrey to get involved in the Movember movement.

LOUISE SCOTLAND STYLES
COLOUR OF THE SEASON
It's officially fall, and when the leaves start to turn...
Yay, my favourite season is here - cue colourful leaves, rich hues, pumpkin-spiced lattes, and the return of knee-high boots.
Last month, I spoke about this year's Autumn trends, including dark cherry red, suggesting it for shoes and accessories. Well, it has rapidly become the colour of the season, and now we're seeing full outfits in this shadeand I'm totally here for it.
If you want to experiment with dark cherry red but aren't sure where to start, try mixing and matching it with these colours:
• Grey
• Denim
• Chocolate brown
• Taupe
HI MY NAME IS LOUISE AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN THE FASHION AND BEAUTY INDUSTRY FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS; INCLUDING HAIR, MAKE-UP AND STYLING FOR TELEVISION, EDITORIAL, FASHION WEEKS, CELEBRITIES, AND MANY A FASHION SHOOT OVER THE YEARS. I AM ALSO A CONTENT CREATOR, PUTTING TOGETHER MANY DIFFERENT OUTFITS WEEKLY, WHICH I LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING WITH YOU ALL. I NOW MOSTLY FIND MYSELF BURIED ALIVE AT HOME IN CLOTHES, SKINCARE AND MAKE-UP… EVERY WOMAN’S DREAM.
• Beige
For textures and pairing ideas, start simple. A casual outfit like leggings and a slogan jumper makes for a stylish, comfortable look - perfect for a family outing, like my recent trip to Brooklands Museum with my tenyear-old son, Roman.
SEASON & BROOKLANDS MUSEUM
It's always refreshing to have a wholesome day out, away from devices (besides mine for some cheeky photos), and Brooklands Museum had so much to see and do.
We passed the Mercedes Benz track on the way in, always a thrill to watch. Entering through the gift shop, Roman was immediately drawn to the toy planes and luxury sweets.
After gently steering him away from the sugar, we explored the museum with an interactive map. Our first stop: two original sheds housing ‘The Fastest on Earth’ exhibition, surrounded by workshops and lock-ups full of Brooklands motorcycles and some of the finest race cars that once tore up the track.
The aircraft park was our favourite. We walked under massive planes and even boarded a few, sitting in the
cockpit for an immersive experience. Each plane came with a fascinating history lesson from the museum staff.
Next up, the bus museum, where we hopped on and off classic buses before diving into a walk-through World War II experience.
Roman especially enjoyed the aircraft factory, where he built his own metal plane and designed an aircraft at the interactive stations.
We wrapped up our day outside, soaking up the sunshine, nibbling on café treats, and playing giant Connect 4.
Of course, before we left, Roman talked me into buying that toy plane - and a few luxury sweets.
All in all, it was a fantastic day out, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an engaging family activity.
Thanks for reading.
Lots of love, Louise x

THE DATING DIRECTORY
The phenomenally successful price comparison portals in industries such as energy, holidays and insurance have revolutionised consumers ability to save money and make more informed choices.
Now for the first time the business model has been introduced into the multi-billion pound dating sector – with singles feeling more disillusioned than ever, it seems it could not have landed at a better time!
Phase one of the Dating Directory was soft launched in 2022. The founder Lorraine Adams has been successfully helping to steer singles towards their forever partner for 25 years as a matchmaker, so she is aptly placed to aggregate all the dating service providers on to one site.
DIRECTORY EXPANSION
The Dating Directory (www.thedatingdirectory.com) is in its current phase one form, is completely free to use and lists hundreds of dating apps, matchmaking services and dating coaches from all around the UK. It also has an updated calendar of singles events which has become one of the most popular sources for singles to discover what IRL experiences they can opt for if they want a break from swiping left. Phase one also lists a wealth of advice and ancillary products and services for site visitors to tap into.
However, in recent months the founder has stepped up the concept and has brought on board two key partners and the trio aim to build far more than just a comparison site. The new DD CEO has a wealth of experience at the top corporate end of the market and the new Editor in chief is a leading editor and journalist who aims to amalgamate and create the kind of content that will ignite singles interest and open up new conversations.
Currently in the middle of their first fund raise as part of the phase two expansion, the founders have plans to build the globes first singles social network feed – with the aim to bring conversations about the industry and personal experiences positive or negative to life – and there is so much to say. The purpose is to introduce a safe place where those seeking love, friendship, companionship or just something more casual – can share knowledge, learn from experiences, grow with their peer groups and discover the secrets of success and also what to avoid.
new DD Calendar of events will be rolled out globally, so singles anywhere in the world can gauge where and when to show up to an event that is going to be populated with their kind of people.
The Dating Directory founders also have intentions to progressively set industry standards for dating service providers, so consumers can rapidly build back trust in the sector.
The Dating Directory section of the new build app will also recruit the help of Ai avatars (Aimee & Aidan) to quicken up the process of The DD being able to help site visitors establish the best service providers for their particular situation. Whatever gender, sexual orientation, age, location, budget or particular preferences users have – The new Ai Dating Directory will rapidly determine which choices and course to follow. Be it a particular dating app that is aimed at over 50’s or single parents, or singles events aimed at the LGBTQ community, or a personal matchmaking service for someone with a high profile or who wants to remain incognito and does not want to have their profile on a dating app or is just looking for a more personal targeted service. Site visitors will not have to pay to use any of the DD features.
Everybody is different, having the choice along with the right expert guidance has got to be better than the current typical precipitous app hoping and consequently loss of hope. Never before have consumers in a particular sector been so disappointed and despondent – the Dating Directory founders are out to completely disrupt and shake up the industry to ensure customers start to build up faith again. In its current state, the dating industry is solely responsible for lowering millions of people’s self-esteem when the whole point of the sector is actually to improve mental health!
What the Dating Directory is NOT – is another dating app. They are not trying to capture and serve a small slice of the market with a new gimmicky concept, their intent is to serve the WHOLE singles market by becoming the very first port of call for singles everywhere – consequently saving them time, energy and ultimately heartbreak! Autumn Hair The Tones, The
As the autumnal months arrive, our beauty routines are ready for a little seasonal shake-up. Autumn 2024 is shaping up to be a captivating time for hair and beauty trends, with a rich palette of colours and luxurious textures. It's all about embracing the natural shift in the environment while keeping our hair and skin radiant. Whether you like to be ‘on trend’ or just looking to refresh your beauty routine for the colder months, here’s how to care for yourself this season.
Colour Trends
Firstly, let’s dive into the colour trends that will dominate Autumn 2024. Think of warm and earthy tones, these are taking centre stage, both in hair and make-up. This year, we’re seeing a return to richer, more natural tones, but with a modern twist.
& Beauty Trends 2024: The Care, The Glow
Hair Colours
For hair, copper is having a major moment. Not the bright, bold copper of last year, but a softer, burnished copper that blends more naturally with deeper shades of brown. This colour adds warmth and depth, making it perfect for Autumn. If you’re not ready for a full copper transformation, consider copper highlights or a subtle balayage that fades into golden hues at the ends. It's a gorgeous, understated way to bring warmth to your complexion. In addition to copper, we’re seeing a rise in mocha brunette shades. These deep chocolatey tones have a subtle gloss to them, giving a healthy, reflective shine. For blondes, it's all about buttery blondes and honey tones - colours that feel natural but add a richness and vibrancy, perfect for complimenting your Autumn wardrobe.
Make-up shades
When it comes to make-up, Autumn 2024 is all about berry lips and muted eyes. Dark berries, deep wines, and even chocolate brown lipsticks are the go-to shades this Autumn. Pair that bold lip with soft, neutral eye makeup, little or no mascara is trending. Matte browns and taupe are the perfect complement to keep the focus on the lips without overwhelming your look. Experiment with texture - matte finishes are in, especially for lips, but keep the skin fresh and glowing for balance.
For eyes, rust and terracotta tones are also a hit. These shades are universally flattering, easy to blend, and can bring out the natural warmth in all eye colours. Plus, they pair beautifully with the warm wardrobe shades.
At-Home Hair Care: Maintain That Salon-Fresh Look
Autumn can be tough on hair. Cooler temperatures, indoor heating, and the seasonal shift can all lead to dryness, frizz, and a general lack of shine. But don’t worry - you don’t need to visit the salon every week to keep your hair looking luscious. Start with a hydrating hair mask. Incorporate a mask into your routine once a week to lock in moisture. Look for masks containing argan oil, shea butter, to strengthen your hair and keep it shiny. A common issue in Autumn is scalp dryness. Combat this with a scalp detox or a clarifying shampoo once every couple of weeks. These help to remove any product build-up and stimulate blood flow, encouraging hair growth and overall scalp health. Follow up with a leave-in conditioner or a lightweight oil like jojoba to keep your ends hydrated and prevent breakage. If you’re someone who loves heat styling, Autumn is a good time to invest in a heat protectant spray. Cold air-con make your hair more brittle, and styling without protection can lead to more damage. Trust us, your selfies will thank you for it!
Skincare: Keep That Summer Glow
Just because the sun is fading doesn’t mean you should lose your glow! Skincare routines in Autumn should be all about hydration and protection. The cool air outside and the heated air inside can seriously dehydrate your skin, leaving it feeling tight and looking dull. Start with a gentle scrub to exfoliate off dead skin cells and reveal a fresh layer of skin. Once or twice a week is enough - any more and you risk stripping your skin. After exfoliating, use a rich, hydrating oil. Natural ingredients will offer so much radiance, oils will become your new best friend this season, as they help your skin retain moisture. If your skin tends to feel extra dry or sensitive in Autumn, try swapping your moisturiser for a body oil. These can help brighten your complexion and can soothe and hydrate irritated skin. And here’s your friendly reminder, don't skip sunscreen! Even in the cooler months, UV rays can still damage your skin. Opt for a lightweight SPF that won’t feel greasy but still gives you the protection you need.
The Autumn Glow-Up
The beauty of Autumn 2024 is all about balance - rich, bold colours paired with soft, glowing skin and healthy hair. As the weather cools down, it’s time to cosy up your routine. Experiment with colours and trends that reflect the season, but don’t forget to focus on nourishing your skin and hair. It’s a beautiful time to embrace change, and with these tips, you’ll be glowing all season long.

Designing spaces that embrace this, will dramatically improve our quality of life”.

INTERIOR DESIGN
Our recently completed Hampton Court project was one of our most fun design briefs. A family of actors, they wanted their home to reflect their bold interests and zest for life. They had originally extended their home ten years ago, but the interior finishes were safe choices with lots of grey, that didn’t at all represent their personalities. The house is in an amazing location, right on the river and their lacklustre interiors was not the right backdrop to make the most of their incredible views.
OUR INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS FOR CREATING LUXURY HOMES
Step one of Sadie Pizzey Interiors processes is always our Drill Down Chat and this is where we really understand our clients wish list, their practical requirements and how they want to feel in their finished home. Our client had collated some inspirational images, and we explored their preferred aesthetics and how we could really weave them into their home.
DESIGN IN SURREY
MAKING MOST OF THE HOME WITH THE INTERIORS
During stages two & three of our process, we really think of the home from every angle. We delve into the layouts, the viewpoints of each space and then build concept boards to piece together the whole look and feel.
From this stage we decided to make a few impactful changes. The principal bedroom overlooked the river but had a short, stumpy window which reduced the river view. We designed a new, full length picture window. As soon as you entered the homes landing you were greeted with the impact of this incredible view. By keeping the existing window lintel, this change is a lot more cost efficient. Other than angle grinding the bricks to the floor, there were no structural changes required. Just the cost of the new window.
We also made the most of the adjoining flat roof, by gaining planning permission to change this into a fully functional balcony, which is accessible from the principal bedroom.
We knew that the home needed more depth. There was a lot of flat, grey walls, which sucked the energy out of the home. Colour and natural finishes played a major part in lifting the home, along with clever joinery and striking furniture selections.
We held our design direction meeting with our clients to show the changes and impactful conceptual design, which they loved and were very excited to see implemented.
INTERIOR DESIGN DETAILS
Stages four & five is the design details. Full selections, design boards, samples, elevations of wall features, joinery design, lighting & electrical plans and full costs.
SP Interiors usually focus our initial design thoughts on the space used the most by the family. We want our homes to have a red thread that brings cohesion to the home. From focusing on this space, it allows us to build out our design consistently. Texture was the key change needed for the kitchen. The starting point, we designed bespoke walnut panelling with a walnut planter. The richness of walnut gives the space more depth. The planter is a piece of art, but with greenery flowing from it is routed the space back to the outdoors and the river view.
LUXURY HOME BAR DESIGN
Sadie Pizzey Interiors love custom joinery; it allows us to create bespoke storage for our homes but also streamlines spaces. Furniture pieces are great in the right setting, but lots of freestanding additions can make a home feel cluttered and smaller than it is.
We designed a new cocktail bar with hidden office storage for the kitchen. There was an existing bar, but it was all open shelves, allowing clutter to gather. By reducing the open section and using antique mirror with lighting to highlight it, this became more impactful. We could then hide the rest of the storage away, allowing dual usage for this part of the space. Next, we designed new cupboards for the TV corner and log storage for the fire.
SURREY HALLWAY STORAGE
The hallway also benefitted from a new bespoke shoe cupboard. During our Drill Down Chat, we always explore our clients pain points with their home. For our Hampton Court clients, they were struggling with their entrance hall being a dumping ground. We removed a seating bench (as it was a prime dumping spot) and instead added a very functional floor to ceiling shoe cupboard.
THE ULTIMATE LUXURY SURREY WARDROBE DESIGN
For the principal bedroom we also designed, personalised wardrobes for our clients. We often find clients fixate on the external look of joinery, but the internal working is incredibly important. During stage one of our design process, we uncover what our clients want to store, how they like to hang, fold, shoe quantities, bags quantities and the list goes on. This results in an internal layout that is completely bespoke to you and your needs. When we completed the survey for this home, we found we had extra depth for the wardrobes. We always want to optimise all the space we have, so we added further shoe boxes and hanging rails for accessories on the inside of each door, so our clients could get even more into their wardrobes!
INTERIOR DESIGN FINISHES IN OUR SPECIAL SURREY HOMES
We had already layered in some incredible walnut into our client’s kitchen. We wanted to make sure the space felt warm and inviting. We decided to colour drench the space in F&B setting plaster and then add a beautiful textural paper to the chimney breast.
No More Boring Surrey homes!
The hallway and landing were a space that struggled for light and was very bland. We chose a somewhat bonkers wallpaper from House of Hackney, that completely elevates the space and makes the home exciting to enter. We teamed it with some incredible paint choices and beautiful hardware.
HOW TO TRANSFORM AN UGLY DOOR?
One of the issues we faced with the hall & landing were the flat, bland doors. It is often a problem with leading-off spaces that you have lots of doors that can really be a design challenge.
HOW TO SPEND & SAVE ON AN INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT
With any project we have a budget, it is our job, as an interior designer to decipher where we spend and where we use clever design tricks to save. To change eight doors is costly! It isn’t just the cost of the new doors, but also the cost of a joiner hanging all doors. Instead, we designed a clever upcycle. We added stained, distressed wooden strips to each door, along with patinated brass hardware. This gave them a more dimensional feel and turned them into works of art. It just shows how some clever trickery and good contractors can make a huge design change for minimal cost!
SURREY HOMES, FURNITURE & FURNISHINGS
Our design stages from six to nine are all about implementation. For this Surrey home we had to put together a great team of contractors for step six. We used out fantastic joiner, and our clients already had a brilliant decorating team.
Project management of an interior design project is no mean feat. We always begin with providing each trade with all their drawing packages and specification schedules to quote and work from. There are then design meetings, on site check-ins and the hours of troubleshooting and problem solving.
Steps seven to nine is scheduling ordering, deliveries, managing deficiencies and install.
We had a lot of fun layering the furniture and furnishing for this house. For the front snug, we embraced the moody and created a cocooning atmosphere. We contrasted out dark paint choice with a warm, toffee velvet sofa and incredible velvet blind, fabric from House of Hackney. Warm woods, layered rugs and rich leathers, all worked to layer the design.
HOME & INTERIORS
In the kitchen the tanned leather sofa contrasts incredibly well with the rich table and the bold dining chairs from Anthropologie. The weaved island pendants anchor the colours and textures. Although we couldn’t add any rugs because of the four dogs, we added lots of cushions and incredible linen curtains with an exquisite Zoffany trim to both heighten the design and add a practical buffer to hide the dirt.
IT'S ALL IN THE INTERIOR DETAILS!
Never leave a space plain or empty if you can and this was so true of the large windowsill in the landing. We toyed with wiring in new table lamps, but to avoid the extra cost we used Pooky battery table lamps and then had this incredible dried floral display created to tie-in with the impactful wallpaper.
The bedroom wallpaper is so calming and tranquil, we teamed more weaved furniture choices (to tie-in the rattan choices in the kitchen) and then layered the design with lots of cushions, throws and accessories.
HAPPY INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT
Sadie Pizzey Interiors final stage is installing and styling. Every piece of the design and process is how we achieve a project like this. It might not be everyone’s perfect aesthetic, but it certainly sums our clients up perfectly. Your home should be an extension of you. Every home we do is different, every client is unique and so are our projects.

YOUR OCTOBER ASTROLOGY FORECAST FROM JESSICA ADAMS OCTOBER 2024 Hot Stars!
Aries
21 MAR – 20 APR
Aries, avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October for decisions on duets or duels. The duet may be marriage. The duel may be a love triangle. Just be aware of the eclipse as you will find the full picture about the other side (or your other half) is obscured. Charles and Diana went on honeymoon on the day of an eclipse. You never see the truth and what appears to be the story, never is. There is a Full Moon in Aries on 17th October. A rare chance to see what you can get away with, in terms of your reputation, title and personal appearance – is here. A 2025 relaunch?
Taurus
21 APR – 20 MAY
Taurus, avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October for new health insurance, surgery, medical appointments, job interviews and all matters crucial to workload and wellbeing. Like all eclipses this conceals, it does not reveal. The rest of the month is useful in terms of an annual update. The Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will shed light on how your physical and mental health dictates what sort of service you give. It also reveals how your work, unpaid work or academic career affects your health. Time for an update.
Gemini
22 MAY – 21 JUNE
October is about more unusual sexual relationships, separation and divorce, pregnancy, gay and lesbian partnerships – and anything which may be getting in the way, in the bedroom. The Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will shed useful light on your intimate relationships, son, daughter, godchildren or young relatives. Just avoid the eclipse on 2nd October as it’s a blind spot or cover up, Gemini. Not helpful. An eclipse does what it says on the tin. It obscures, blots out and covers up what would normally be as clear as day.
Cancer
22 JUNE – 23 JULY
Assuming you can bypass the eclipse in your home and family zone, on the 2nd - October should be a useful month for you. The Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will shed light on the situation with your house, apartment, family, household, town or country. This can clarify the complications in the family. So, blended families. Perhaps, motherson. Daughter-in-law and motherin-law. Husband and wife. Cancer, you have a sign-off decision to make about this in October. Just bypass the eclipse as it conceals; it never reveals. Your fellow Cancerian, Princess Diana, knew that.
24 JULY – 23 AUG
In all these areas – the web, local trips and your brothers and sisters – you find October is a key month. Libra rules the internet, commuting, short journeys, siblings and cousins in your life. Avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October. Eclipses cover up, obscure and hide. It doesn’t take much to choose another day to act or judge. A brother or sister will be central, either connected, or as a separate issue. So will some aspect of the web, be it an ebook or Twitter. Meanwhile, expect clues that next year you will be travelling in a very different way; it’s about time.
Virgo
24 AUG – SEPT 3
Try to wrap up the important discussions or paperwork about finance or property before you hit the eclipse, on 2nd October, or just bypass it and act later. In 2025 as a whole, a new era begins for your finances. It’s an extended holiday from reality and it runs for years. If you can avoid the eclipse, though, so much the better, Virgo.
Despite this, the Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will shed useful light on your charity, house, shares, business, apartment or valuables. Now’s the time to update a budget.
24 SEPT
– 23 OCT
Your health and wellbeing should be moved up on your list of priorities in October, as you are being offered an escape route –anything from Scottish country dancing to a keto diet. You are also being offered new freedom, financially, in a story which has had many twists and turns, but now reaches a conclusion. Next month suggests you can appreciate the very particular power that a house, block of land or apartment offers you. It is also the right moment to think about January 2025 as a genuinely fresh start with your extended family circle as the balance of power will have corrected itself.
SCORPIO
24
OCT – 22 NOV
Your inner self dominates October, Scorpio. So, self-help, meditation, counselling, the Tarot, mediumship, hypnosis and the like. Religion and spirituality are very high on the list as is anything your soul trusts in good faith. Despite this, the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October should be avoided. It looks like a new beginning but it’s extremely misleading. The Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will otherwise help you shed light on the inner workings – of your own inner workings.
Sagittarius
23
NOV
– 21 DEC
Libra Weather is with you in your Eleventh House of friends and groups. This may be a professional organisation of your peers, or it may be a solid group of chums who were there at your wedding. It can be a football team or your band. Thanks to the eclipse, though, October needs a close watch. The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October is a blind spot and a blackout. Skip that. Otherwise, the Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will at least help you shed light on the nature of the group and the friendships, within the group. That’s handy.
Capricorn
22 DEC – 20 JAN
Libra Weather is with you in your Tenth House of career, academia and unpaid work. Skip the eclipse on 2nd October for choices about this, though. You won’t see or cannot possibly know what is going on. We know that eclipses are, historically, proven blind spots. Here you may also find a cover-up. Otherwise, Capricorn, the Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will at least help you shed light on it all. This is incredibly useful. Your best chance in 12 months to step back from your career and see it as others do. What is your performance like?
Aquarius
21 JAN – 19 FEB
Where is the priority in October?
Well, Libra Weather is with you in your Ninth House of foreigners and foreign countries, in your zone of travel, tourists and business travellers. Also, other foreign cultures in your own country. Connected to this, are publishing and academia. Avoid the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on 2nd October. You won’t see and can’t know. Otherwise, the Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will at least help you shed light on how you are going to deal with foreigners and foreign countries. This may be a Zoom, Aquarius or maybe a gap year.
Pisces
20 FEB – 20 MAR
Libra Weather is with you in your Eighth House, which rules joint finances, shared houses or apartments, mutual interests in legacies and wills. Kindly skip the eclipse on 2nd October as you won’t see, and can’t know, what is going on. The Full Moon in Aries on 17th October is best avoided as it’s very hard work. Apart from the eclipse and Full Moon, the Sun in Libra from Saturday 24th September until Sunday 23rd October will at least help you shed light on the numbers. This is really useful. In 2025 you will take both feet off the ground as you take a holiday from financial reality.
Autumn Astrology
Hello my lovely people. I have been writing about astrology and have studied it since 2008 along with doing tarot readings. I want to spread the word of what's going on with astrology for Autumn and how it will affect the collective.
I will start with the 1st challenge we have had which is an eclipse in Pisces opposite Virgo on the 17th September. This full moon will affect these signs as the eclipses last for 6 months and the next changes will be in March.
This phase of the Moon occurred at 25 degrees and 41 minutes of Pisces, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Virgo, and affecting planets at approximately 21 to 30 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and 0 to 1 degree of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) the most.
This in simple terms means the above signs will have a degree of change maybe a new job or news that will shake their life in new direction. This will be positive even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.
The next change will come on 2nd October with a new moon and solar eclipse in Libra. This is last set of eclipses in Libra and Aries and this moon will calm life down now for these signs as they have had lots of changes the last few years. New moons are new beginnings so make a wish on this new moon.
To recap Virgo and Pisces are in the spot light this Autumn and for next year 2025 as they will have their eclipses every 6 months and the next one is March. Libra and Aries are coming to an end of their two years of changes but make sure if you are these signs, you learn all your lessons you have been given by the universe.

with BoConcept See home in a new light
BoConcept’s new collection isn’t just about adding new furniture to your space – it’s about transforming it. This season’s hero pieces are designed to be statement makers, each with the power to completely redefine a room’s atmosphere and functionality. From cloud-like sofas to conversation-starting dining tables, BoConcept invites you to “See home in a new light.”
Center Stage: The Bellagio Sofa
Designed by Anders Nørgaard, the Bellagio sofa is a showstopper. Its inviting curves and luxurious feel promise comfort unlike any other. “It’s like sitting in the clouds,” Nørgaard describes. But beyond its looks, Bellagio offers a textural experience with channel stitching that adds depth and refinement. This trend-forward detail elevates the sofa from ordinary to extraordinary.
Gather Around: The Santiago Table and Sideboard
Morten Georgsen expands the popular Santiago collection with a new round, extendable table and a stylish sideboard.
The table’s smooth curves and bevelled details create a striking design, perfect for family meals or larger gatherings. Its round shape fosters conversation, ensuring everyone has a seat at the table (literally and figuratively).
The Santiago sideboard embodies mid-century elegance with a contemporary twist. Inspired by bygone Hollywood glamour, its “striped” doors and optional bar section with integrated lighting channel that retro Pacific Coast vibe. But it’s not just about aesthetics. The sideboard offers ample storage, customisable finishes, and comes in two sizes to fit any space.
A Touch of Heritage: The Seoul Dining Chair
Designed by Henrik Pedersen, the Seoul chair embodies the essence of Danish design. Clean lines, understated elegance, and high-quality materials create a timeless piece with a modern edge. The short armrests contribute to both comfort and a streamlined design. The Seoul chair comes in three wood finishes – Natural Oak, Dark Oak, and Black – each offering a distinct character.

NEW Bellagio sofa
“BELLAGIO LOOKS AS COMFORTABLE AS IT FEELS,” SAYS ITS DESIGNER ANDERS NØRGAARD. “IT’S LIKE SITTING IN THE CLOUDS.”
Sculptural Elegance: The Tivoli Coffee Table
BoConcept takes a bold step with the Tivoli coffee table, a mini-collection featuring sculpted designs with a travertine-effect finish. Unlike traditional stone tables, Tivoli is surprisingly lightweight thanks to its concrete core and imitated travertine finish. The tables come in three shapes, allowing for versatility in layout. Each piece is a statement on its own, but they also harmonise beautifully when grouped together, creating a unique “island” of tables.
BoConcept’s new AW24 collection goes beyond individual pieces. It’s about creating a home that reflects your personality and fosters connection. Whether it’s the luxurious comfort of the Bellagio sofa, the inviting round table of Santiago, or the sculptural beauty of Tivoli, each piece is designed to inspire a new way of living and experiencing your home.
If you are looking to create enduring style but not sure the best way to start, book a free interior design consultation today with BoConcept’s interior designers.
