celebrities SPICE GIRLS RUMOURED TOUR

BEN SHERMAN BRINGS MOD FASHION TO THE MASSES

everyone’s talking about...

The Spice Girls are reportedly planning to reform for a world tour in 2026, marking 30 years since the release of their debut single, "Wannabe," according to reports.

Rumours suggest the four original members (excluding Victoria Beckham) are involved in the plans.

Although Ginger Spice aka Geri Horner has hinted at a full Spice Girls reunion, saying, "My hope is we come back together as a collective. It's more respectful to come as one," she told The Sun. Scary Spice/Mel B had previously confirmed the Spice Girls were planning to reunite for the event, telling The Jonathan Ross Show: "We are wanting to do something and we are but I can’t really tell you because I’ll get kicked out of the WhatsApp group again."

Asked about the Spice Girls reuniting, she later said on ITV show ‘Loose Women’: "We're definitely doing something. I'm probably going to get told off! I'm in trouble now."

However, if the plans to reform “in person” do not materialise then it is believed their former manager Simon Fuller is set to ring them back as Avatars for a concert special like Abba, currently running in London to rave reviews.

HUGH JACKMAN DIVORCE FINALISED

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have reached an agreement to divide their US$387million fortune as their long-awaited divorce is finalised. At the centre of the settlement are luxury properties across the US, England and Australia - including multimillion-dollar penthouses, a Hamptons estate and a Bondi Beach retreat. Sources close to the pair confirmed the divorce is 'uncontested' and all that is required is a judge's sign-off following lengthy negotiations over money and assets. Jackman is believed to be getting the New York and Bondi residences. Deborra, who has two adopted children with the Wolverine actor, has received a 'handsome spousal support payment,' according to an insider, with no animosity as they terminate their 27year marriage. Deborra filed for divorce

A short hop across the Surrey border to Sussex saw celebrity cover journalist Angela Sara West attend the launch of a fab new fashion showcase at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

Sponsored by iconic Brighton Mod brand Ben Sherman, the newly transformed fashion gallery features over 35 mannequins styled in rare, early Mod fashion from Roger K. Burton's acclaimed vintage collection, offering a unique chance to get up close to the bold designs that rocked the 60s fashion scene. With over 50 years' experience, Roger has styled stand-out films, including Quadrophenia and Absolute Beginners, and collaborated with icons David Bowie, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

"The In Crowd: Mod Fashion & Style 1958–66 is about more than fabric - it's about the energy and edge of a youth movement that refused to follow the rules," said Mart Pel, Curator of Fashion and Textiles at Brighton Museum.

The exhibition highlights the trailblazing designers who brought the Mod look to life - from razor-sharp suits to punchy prints and precise tailoring. "Every piece tells a story of self-expression and defiance. It was fashion with purpose, and that legacy still resonates today." The edgy exhibition shines a spotlight on the creativity and bold design that defined Mod fashion, while also honouring Brighton's special place in the story of this iconic youth movement. The stunning seafront became a catwalk for sharp style and a flashpoint for the Mod-Rocker clashes that defined a generation, with the vibrant city's rebellious spirit and bold fashion sense still echoing through Mod culture today.

The bar is made from new tanalised pretreated timber suitable for both indoors and outdoors. The wood being tanalised means that it has a treatment within it that prevents rot, fungus etc. and protects against the elements as it designed to be used for other things such as fencing etc. too. There may be a slight "tinge" to the wood when you first receive it as some wood seems to show the colour of the treatment more than others. This will settle and fade over time.

BEER MAKING MACHINE

Brewing from grain is an extremely rewarding hobby that is multifaceted, brewers can enter the hobby not just for the joy of the end product but the entire process getting there. With this complete set up you can brew 23 litres (40 pints) of any beer style you choose, whilst there are one pot systems available such as The Grainfather, this set up gives a somewhat more hands on approach giving that real handcrafted appeal to the final product. This system is perfect for both the beginner and experienced brewers who would like a step-up in equipment. This complete set-up includes a pump that can be utilised during the mashing process, recirculating the wort. This produces higher efficiency from your grain and achieves crystal clear wort. Once the boil stage is finished the pump then comes into use again, this time for whirlpooling. This increases hop utilisation and concentrates the “TRUB” to the centre of the kettle allowing clear wort to be drained from the side of the kettle. Happy Brewing! £350, THE MALT MIXER

OUR TOP PASTEL HAIR PICKS

#PASTELHAIR

Pastel hair is gaining more momentum this Spring/ Summer with a whole host of celebs getting in on the trend including singer Nicki Minaj going green, ‘Twilight’ actress Kristen Stewart and her pink hue, Rita Ora went orange while colour chameleon Kylie Jenner opted for a teal/blue shade.

What’s good about going pastel is that if you are already blonde you can buy a wash in/wash out hairspray and test what colours look good on you before you commit to anything longer term.

Surrey Rocks has tried and tested a few and can say that the best and most affordable on the market is Superdrug’s ‘Pick & Mix Colour Hairspray’ priced at only £2.99, with offers running on 2 for £6 or 3 for £7 at the moment. Choose from Very Violet, Rebel Red, Rose Pink, Pink Petal, Green Machine or Blue Blast. If you spend £20 on their website you get free delivery too.

If you have short hair one can will suffice, mid-lengths 2 cans or long hair go for 3 cans. But be warned it does rub off a bit throughout the day so don’t wear with white clothing!

Argos do a great selection of hair chalks which cost £10 and are great for highlighting all hair types and colours, although the colour intensity may vary. Best to use this product with care around your favourite clothes like the Pick & Mix Sprays.

If you decide you like your new pastel colour shade, you can pick up a semi-permanent toner or dye from Boots or Superdrug for less than a tenner. The best on the market that gets rave reviews is Clairol Colour Toners. They come in a range of shades and last approximately 8 washes. Go one step further and head to a salon to get the best and most long-lasting pastel colour this season. Surrey Rocks’ Editor Sam went pink for the Surrey Awards after a visit to the awardwinning Sam Burnett salon, Hare & Bone, in Esher.

Stylist Emily dyed her hair blonde then went for a Davines Colour in rose pink. The result was a beautiful light pink hue. Sam has short hair so Emily decided to dye her blonde clip-in extensions to match. The result was perfect for the awards gala dinner. For anyone that wants to try this, it’s important to know that the colour match on the extensions only works when you wash your own hair and the clip-ins at the same time, otherwise one fades more than the other! To keep the colour topped up nicely the Davines Alchemic Creative Conditioner in Pink, available at Hare & Bone, works wonders and also repairs the hair at the same time with Jojoba oil that helps shine, and soften.

Have fun experimenting with your hair colour! Tag us in any posts on social media and we will share @surrey_rocks.

RECIPE

ROTOLO OF SPINACH, SQUASH & RICOTTA

Rotolo is a really unusual pasta dish. It takes a little longer than some other pastas, but it’s worth the effort because it’s such a joy to eat – a real showstopper if you want to turn heads this month. This Jamie Oliver recipe takes two hours to make but it’s a simply delicious vegan/vegetarian option that the whole family will enjoy. Serves 6.

INGREDIENTS:

• 450g fresh egg pasta dough

• ½ a butternut squash

• olive oil

• 1 teaspoon coriander seeds

• 1 teaspoon fennel seeds

• ½ a dried red chilli

• 1 handful of fresh marjoram or oregano

• 2 cloves of garlic

• 800g spinach

• 250g unsalted butter

• 1 whole nutmeg, for grating

• 150g crumbly ricotta cheese

• 50g Parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving

• 20 fresh sage leaves

METHOD:

1. First make your egg pasta dough. Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F/gas 7.

leaving the top 5cm of the pasta sheet clear. Crumble the ricotta over the spinach, finely grate over the Parmesan and you’re ready to begin rolling!

5. Brush the last clear edge of the pasta sheet with a little water then, working carefully, use the nearest edge of the tea towel to roll the pasta up and away from you, like a Swiss roll. Roll the rotolo up in the tea towel and tie it firmly at each end using some string. You can secure the sausage shape even further by tying some more round the middle if you want. Tie a little extra string at one end so it can hang out of the cooking pot and act as a handle.

6. Now, to cook the rotolo, get your fish kettle or very large pan with a lid and fill it with boiling salted water. Lower the rotolo in and use the fish kettle rack on top to keep it submerged. If using a saucepan, hold the rotolo down with a plate. Simmer for about 25 minutes.

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL – MILEY CYRUS

Miley is back with her ninth studio album on May 30th released through Sony Music’s Columbia Records.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING

BUZZING WITH THE BEES: FROM BRENTFORD TO HOLLYWOOD - BY

3. Water will cook out of it as it heats up – this is fine, though, as we will cook it away. Using a pair of tongs, keep the spinach moving quickly around the pan, then after a minute add a couple of knobs of butter and a good grating of nutmeg and stir it around a bit more. Keep cooking until the moisture has cooked away then season to taste and allow to cool. To roll out your pasta either use a pasta machine to give you 4 or 5 long sheets (15cm x 30cm wide) and stick them together using a little water, or you can do what I do and use a rolling pin on a large surface, dusting with flour on top of and underneath the dough. Have a go at both ways. Keep it in a rectangular shape but trim it as necessary. Roll out to the thickness of a beer mat and the size of a tea towel, then lay it out on top of a clean tea towel.

4. Once you’ve done this, spoon a line of squash along the long edge of the sheet nearest you. Sprinkle the spinach over the rest of the sheet,

2. Halve, deseed and chop the butternut squash into big chunks and rub them with a little olive oil. Bash up the coriander seeds, fennel seeds and chilli in a pestle and mortar with a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Dust this mix over your pieces of squash, then put them into a snug-fitting ovenproof dish or roasting tray, covered with a dampened piece of greaseproof paper. Pop the tray into the oven for about 30 minutes, then remove the paper and let the squash roast for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden. While this is cooking, pick the marjoram or oregano leaves, discarding the stalks, and peel and finely slice the garlic. Get a large pan nice and hot and add a little olive oil, the herb leaves and sliced garlic. Move it all around for 20 seconds, then add the spinach.

7. While it’s cooking, you need to clarify some butter. To do this, take the remaining butter and place it in an ovenproof dish in the oven on a low plate-warming temperature (80°C). Over the next 10 to 15 minutes it will melt and you’ll see that the milky whey will sink to the bottom. Discard any white bits floating on the top, then spoon out the clear golden butter and put to one side. Discard the whey. You won't need all the butter now, but it's quite hard to clarify any less than this - you can leave the extra in the fridge to use for your roast potatoes another day.

8. Now you've removed the whey from the butter, you can heat it up more aggressively. So put about 3 tablespoons of your clarified butter into a pan and heat it up. Test to see if the butter is hot enough by adding a sage leaf to it. If it fries nicely, add the rest of the leaves and fry for about 30 seconds until they begin to crisp up. Then remove from the heat and put to one side.

9. When the rotolo is ready, carefully remove it from the pan, take the string off, unroll it and slice it up - a couple of slices per portion.

10. Scatter a few sage leaves over the top, drizzle with a little of your sageflavoured butter, and finish off with a grating of Parmesan. Unbelievable!

Miley said that ‘Something Beautiful’ was inspired by Pink Floyd’s 1979 critically-acclaimed album ‘The Wall’ and it contains 13 tracks, mixing experimental rock with psychedelic pop. The album begins with the brilliant track ‘Prelude’ a spoken word song accompanied with electronic instruments, the title track ‘Something Beautiful’ is stunning and fuses jazz and soul influences.

There is also a disco-inspired track called ‘End of the World’ which Miley teased with an excerpt of the accompanying video on her website.

Interestingly, the soul and tone used in Miley’s voice during this album is so different from every era of hers so far, critics are hailing this new offering as one of her best yet.

‘Something Beautiful’ is executive produced by Cyrus and the six-time, Grammy awardwinning Canadian producer Shawn Everett.

The album is supported by a musical film of the same name set to be released on June 6th at the 2025 Tribecca Festival.

The reported last film in the popular ‘Mission : Impossible’ franchise aims to deliver a fitting conclusion to Ethan Hunt's saga, combining high-octane action with deeper thematic explorations such as threat of Advanced AI.

Continuing the narrative from the 2023 film ‘Dead Reckoning Part One’, Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) faces a new adversary: a rogue artificial intelligence known as The Entity.

The film delves into themes of technology, control and the ethical dilemmas posed by advanced AI, echoing concerns about the potential dangers of such entities.

With its blend of thrilling stunts (most of which are performed by Cruise himself without the aid of stunt doubles!), compelling narrative and impressive visuals, the eighth film is poised to be a standout conclusion to the franchise.

‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14th, before its global release on May 23rd in all cinemas. A great end to a superb franchise of movies.

‘Mission: Impossible’ is definitely going to be missed after this final outing!

Football and popular culture are two of the most avidly followed genres by a huge swathe of the world's population, which is why 'Buzzing with the Bees from Brentford to Hollywood' is such a compelling read.

You can catch Marcus on stage at this year’s Surrey Awards at G Live on May 15th where he will be performing ‘Rasputin’ with Boney M.

YVONNE ARNAUD EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

WE GOT TO CATCH UP WITH THE CHARMING AND TALENTED JOANNA READ, CEO & DIRECTOR OF THE YVONNE ARNAUD THEATRE IN GUILDFORD, ON THEIR MOST IMPRESSIVE YEAR YET, THEIR RENOVATIONS, GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, FAMOUS YVONNE ARNAUD FACES AND FUTURE PLANS, INCLUDING THE CHRISTMAS 2025 PANTO REVEAL!

First of all congratulations on the most amazing year with such an impressive reach and impact on the community. (Check out the full statistics alongside this article!) What’s been the highlights of your year so far? There have been so many. I would have to say seeing all the kids and families together in the building on our ‘Easter family Fun Day’ in April, ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ with Michael Maloney was a great show back in January and our recent production of ‘Handbagged’ was another stunning piece of work. Our numbers are growing on the ‘Pop Up Play’ on Friday mornings too and I recently sat in on he ‘Creative Learning Workshops’ and seeing those young people engage with the work we are doing already on the panto is so rewarding.

How hard was conducting shows whilst also renovating the theatre last year?

It was a struggle! My team have been extraordinary in how patient they have been with the upheaval, the day-to-day noise and the drilling! Because a lot of the work does go on when we don’t have shows our team have born the brunt of it! Our catering staff have moved locations up to 6 or 7 times now!! In fact, all of our staff were brilliant and how they coped with it and made the best of the situation. It has been tough but we needed it to happen!

The new look Yvonne Arnaud theatre is stunning, is there any particular area you are most pleased with and why?

Well, the new lifts have been fantastic, the River Room is stunning and we all love the extra light that is being let into the building now. While it’s not quite finished yet the front ‘Yvonne Arnaud’ signage is going to be amazing and the fact that we have been careful with all our building materials which are renewable and energy efficient is a major plus point.

You are working with mental health groups Catalyst and Oakleaf – how did these collaborations come about?

Our Creative Learning Team consisting of Rhiannon and Charlie framed the project ‘Show Goers’ and then reached out to charities like Catalyst and Oakleaf to get involved. We know attending plays and the arts in general makes you feel good, makes you feel better and connects you with people. But sometimes getting people to us can be tricky at times so we deliberately put a project together that tries to support people with well-being and mental health while at the same time combatting social isolation. 95 people have attended 18 shows so that’s a great turn out to start with, we will continue to work on and develop this further in the future.

You have also partnered with some great local institutions including the YMCA, Zero Carbon and Action for Carers, how important is the community/charity aspect of your role as CEO?

The theatre functions as an arts venue within the borough to reach out to all areas of the community to engage in arts. To do that effectively we need to get out there and reach out to all those people who might think we are not for them or for socio-economic reasons might not have the ability to come to our shows. It’s a fundamental aspect of what we do and we have some great charities we work with.

Giving back to Youth Theatre and Education is paramount at Yvonne Arnaud with workshops aplenty for any area of theatre life – what workshops have you been most impressed with and why?

We had this really funky workshop that we set up the other day, called ‘Comic Book Writing’ they were so engaged all those young people. As well as theatre workshops we like to think outside the box – you don’t have to just have drama workshops. The Young Company we have just started working with recently run a ‘Mime and Motion Picture Workshop’ which was brilliant fun!

What budding actors have launched their fledgling acting careers through schemes/workshops at Yvonne Arnaud?

Well that I know of (the Theatre launched originally back in 1965) we have had David Tennant when he was in his twenties, Dame Judi Dench who was reminiscing about a play she brought here ‘Mr & Mrs Nobody’ in the nineties –

that was before she was a Dame though – and of course the wonderful actress Maureen Lipman.

You must have met some seriously famous faces in your role – who were you most impressed with and why?

Derek Jacobi and Martin Shaw are just lovely!

We were excited to see Lucy Benjamin, Peter Gordon and Matt Pinches are back for the YA panto again this year. Are there any more cast members for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to divulge yet?

Yes we have 3 new cast members to reveal. Clair Gleave, Rickey Oakley and Dylan Collymore.

Comedy is gaining a lot of traction too. You have Lou Sanders, Shaparak Khorsandi and Nigel Planer coming soon – is there anyone on your comedy hit list you would love to have perform and why?

Sandy Toksvig is great and we would love to have Harry Hill back again. Also Lenny Henry but I’m not sure if he’s still doing live comedy. Oh and John Bishop, he’s local.

As a female CEO and director, what does being a ‘positive female role model’ mean to you?

Well I like to be visible, engage with people and attend a lot of external events, I’m happy to put myself forward as a spokesperson for the theatre. I think this is really important as if you are a young women or girl coming up in the world it’s good to see other women in these roles.

The Showgoers

Audiences

Who are the women who have had the biggest influences on your life and why?

My director Annie Castledine (sadly she is no longer with us) was a major inspiration when I was an assistant director in my twenties. She was a force of nature – just brilliant! I had some really good teachers at school too, my English teacher at my comprehensive in Stroud installed confidence in me.

What advice would you give to other women starting out in their careers? Do it!! You are good, you are confident, take that space and own it!

THE POWER OF A PAUSE - WHY SLOWING DOWN MIGHT BE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE THING YOU EVER DO!

You know the drill: another to-do ticked off the list. Another email sent. One foot in front of the other. A calendar full of places to be.

The phone buzzing. Your mind constantly scrolling through what's next. You've worked hard to build a beautiful life - perhaps a thriving career, a family, a home you love. And yet, how often do you feel present in it all? Truly still. Truly joyful. Truly grateful. At peace.

In today's culture, productivity is worn like a badge of honour. We're told that more is better, faster is best, and rest is reserved for when everything else is done. But here's the truth I've learned through both my own journey and my work with clients: the more you push, the more disconnected you become - from your energy, your joy, your self worth, your success even.

And, as counterproductive as it may seem, slowing down and choosing to pause is one of the most powerful things you can do - not only for your wellbeing, but also to help you achieve goals, find your clarity and spark your creativity.

HUSTLE CULTURE IS NO BADGE OF HONOUR

We live in a world that praises the hustle. Social media glorifies 5am starts and back-toback meetings. But constant striving has a cost. Burnout is rising and, according to the World health Organisation* "in 2019, 301 million people were living with an anxiety disorder." Equally staggering statistics came out of a recent YouGov report** which stated that "91% experienced high pressure or stress at some point over the last year." Meaning that even those with lives that look picture-perfect from the outside are likely struggling somehow on the inside.

If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right, but still feel off - restless, uninspired, or low in energy - you're not alone. It's often a sign that something deeper is calling: a need to soften, to reconnect, to slow down.

WHY SLOWING DOWN MATTERS MORE THAN EVER

As a Reiki healer and creator of the JoyScape Method (a healing practice rooted in energy work, mindset shifts, and emotional clarity), I help people come home to themselvesespecially those who look like they have it all, but quietly feel like something's missing. Slowing down allows your nervous system to reset. It clears mental fog. It opens space for ideas, emotions and desires that you've been too busy to hear. It gives your body and mind permission to recharge, so you're not just surviving, but making space to thrive!

So How Can You Begin? Here are 5 simple, intentional ways you can bring more peace and joy into your everyday life:

START THE DAY WITHOUT A RUSH

Before you check emails or reach for your phone, try something slower. Take a couple of sips of your tea in silence. Open a window and take five deep breaths. Journal your intention for the day. It doesn't have to be something that will take up huge swathes of your time, but just enough to break the cycle and give your mind and body a moment of breathing space before launching in. This short pause can set the tone for the entire day.

SCHEDULE 'WHITESPACE' LIKE YOU SCHEDULE MEETINGS

We often protect work appointments, but rest time? That gets pushed. Try blocking out 10 to 30 minutes a day for doing 'nothing'. Don't read, scroll, or put on the TV. Let your brain wander. Let your shoulders drop. Step out in the garden or walk near your home with no fixed destination. Close your eyes and move your awareness through your body, purposefully finding and relaxing tense areas. Study the intricacies of a leaf or flower. Savour a coffee by feeling, smelling and truly tasting it. Think you don't have time for these types of things? Make it - take back the reins of your calendar!

CREATE MICRO-RITUALS THAT GROUND YOU

Whether it's lighting a candle while cooking, playing some jazz whilst the kettle boils, or taking a short breathing break between Zoom calls, these small but mighty rituals remind your nervous system: you are safe, and you are allowed to slow down. Without a regular and gentle self check-in, you can get caught in fight-or-flight, leading to the release of the stress hormone cortisol. So, take the time to show your mind and body that they are safe.

LET GO OF THE GUILT AROUND REST

Rest is not earned - it's essential. Reframing rest as fuel and not a reward to be earned, is one of the most powerful mindset shifts you can make. Sure it would be lovely to sit

down in a spotless home or with a completed to-do list, but with jobs, families, errands, and lives to lead, learn to accept that it cannot always be possibleand sit down anyway!

TRY GROUP ENERGY WORK

If you've never experienced Reiki energy healing, it's a gentle yet powerful healing technique that helps your body and mind return to balance. In my online group sessions, people find clarity and calm they didn't realise they were missing - sometimes in just 30 minutes! YouTube is also a powerful resource, filled with energy balancing meditations, healing sessions and mindset tutorials - great for a moment of balance and peace during your morning coffee, or even before you go to bed.

HOLISTIC REFLEXOLOGY

Pay a visit Surrey Rocks columnist Surinder Lall, a Holistic Reflexologist based in Surrey. Through the practice of holistic reflexology Surinder can help ignite your own body’s natural ability to heal itself. She covers areas such as nutrition, mindfulness, breathing, meditation, visualisation - all techniques to help relax the body, with a clear focus on a deeply powerful restorative therapy calming the nervous system and promoting overall well-being. Alternative therapy isn’t just a trend; it’s an informed choice! Follow her on Instagram: @holisticreflexology and DM to make an appointment.

WHAT TO REMOVE FROM YOUR LIFE (IF YOU WANT TO BREATHE AGAIN!)

The space you crave isn't created by adding more. It's created by removing what no longer fits. Here are a few things worth gently letting go of:

• The need to be constantly available or responsive

• The idea that rest is lazy

• Comparison - especially online

• Anything that drains your energy without giving back

A NEW KIND OF SUCCESS

In my work, I've seen time and again: when people give themselves permission to pause, they don't lose their edgethey sharpen it. They become more focused, more aligned, and far more fulfilled.

So, the next time you feel the pull to push harder, ask yourself: What if rest isn't the enemy? What if it's the way forward? And instead of leaping into automated action, you take a breath, and choose your next move with peace and ease in your heart?

PEACE IN SURREY

Although peace can be discovered during the simplicity of your morning cup of tea, in Surrey we have the privilege of access to beautiful outdoor spaces, supportive communities, as well as a bounty of healing and wellbeing practitioners. The invitation now is to use that access not to fill every moment, but to savour them. Because sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is... pause.

At Jonathan Rowlandson Design we have provided a unique design and build service for a range of clients for over 20 years. With an emphasis on innovative, contemporary design solutions we have risen to the challenge of every project, interior or exterior. Combining our unique approach to metal items with wood, glass, stone, and other materials. At JRD we offer a range of furniture items including the Otolo range. We also design and produce items sympathetic to their environment, be it a rustic bar restaurant with an artisan feel – normally providing seating, counters, bars, lighting, signage, etc. such as Dog Star Brixton – or one-off sculptural items such as the tables for Vivienne Westwood. Our inspiration will often come from the clients’ desires, as well as tapping into nature and art to find a suitable solution. Hardly any 2 projects are the same, we continue to provide new and hopefully better designs.

RAMBLING PIG BY RAPSA

Rapsa’s award-winning restaurant, The Rampling Pig by Rapsa, is bringing crowd favourites from its famed headquarters in Hoxton in London to a new crowd in Ewell Village in Surrey. Our experience visiting the quirky & cool eatery was fabulous from start to finish. And of all the reviews we are fortunate to do here at Surrey Rocks Magazine, this Filipino fusion restaurant has been one of the finest. Read on to find out why….

OUR EXPERIENCE

We arrived at 1pm on a glorious, sunny afternoon in May and were greeted by the charismatic owner, Andrw Zilof who was serving the most sumptuous cocktails behind their well-stocked bar much to the delight of his adoring customers!

As the weather was on our side we opted to sit in the newly coiffed, al fresco brick-walled garden at the back of the restaurant with gorgeous Tiki style umbrellas, art deco seating and cutest “pig” themed decorations throughout. Nice touch!!

We were handed the most impressive drinks menu with superb Rapsastyle twists on all the classic cocktails plus some new ones we hadn’t heard of.

Excited to get stuck we went for the ’Cherry Coke Old Fashioned’ which hit the high notes for flavour whilst being morello cherry sweet and very strong! We also went for the nod to Harry Styles’ called ‘Watermelon Sugar High’ which was perfect for this hot Summer’s day consisting of Vodka, Aperol, Watermelon, Elderflower and Prosecco… so light and refreshing.

Finally, off the cocktail menu we sampled a beautiful ‘Hibiscus Margarita’ containing Tequila, Hibiscus Syrup and Lime served in a Jalapeno salt-rimmed glass. The colours and flavours of this cocktail were immense. A must try!

All this while enjoying the ambience of a fun-filled garden with the exuberant staff and surrounding guests.

THE FINEST FILIPINO FUSION FOOD

We got to sample a smorgasbord of Filipino-Fusion food as part of this stunning restaurant review.

Across all Rapsa’s menus are an array of flavours from garden, land and sea. Their a la carte menu is centred around sharing plates and can be enjoyed at all times of the day too.

We ordered a wonderful selection of Starters including the ‘Crumbled Halloumi Fingers’ served with their signature banana ketchup and ‘Crispy Chicken Pulutan’ which comes with Korean chilli sauce and togarashi.

The Halloumi Fingers were cooked perfectly with that perfect crunch, oozing cheese centre and the banana/ketchup dipping sauce was sweet but not overpowering, scattered with paprika to offset. The Chicken Pulutan Strips were delicious too and a very generous portion size.

To accompany we went for the intriguing dish of ‘Salt Baked Beetroot’ which was served with whipped wasabi feta, yuzu kalamansi glaze and bee pollen. Wow what a dish; the colours and flavours were superb. However, this was not to be outdone by the excellent ‘Roasted Cauliflower Salad’ which comes with coconut yoghurt, capers, coconut flakes and dijon mustard.

While the sublime ‘Mac & Cheese’ served with pork, shrimp paste and lashings of cheese was also a firm favourite with our reviewers.

The ‘Duck & Mungoo Guisado’ with mung daal puree, torched onions, muringa leaves and coco milk was perfection. Succulent, slow cooked meat served with the brightest, tastiest and tangiest of sauces. We were blown away with this dish and its presentation. Next up, was the main of ‘Slow Roasted Lechon’ a crispy pork belly with atchara and tamarind kalamansi. Slow cooked to perfection for 8 hours the meat was so soft and tender and literally melted in the mouth. This was also the chef’s favourite dish and one of the most popular on the menu according to Andrew. We knew we were onto a winner straight away.

After our fill of Starters and Mains, Dessert was next on the agenda. We were treated to the new homemade ice-cream selection which included delights such as; ‘Ube Purple Yam Ice Cream’ ‘Condensed Milk Ice Cream’ ‘Mango Ice Cream’ and ‘Coconut

RAPSA ROASTS

SUMMER OF LOVE: THE HOTTEST DATING TRENDS

As the days get longer and the weather heats up, so does the dating scene. Summer 2025 is shaping up to be a season of connection, adventure and (dare I say it!) authentic romance. Whether you're newly single, back on the apps or simply open to meeting someone new, there's never been a better time to put yourself out there. The good news? Dating has evolved in exciting ways, and this Summer's trends are all about meaningful connections, mindful dating and shared experiences.

TREND #1: SLOW DATING IS STILL IN

After years of swiping fatigue, more singles are ditching the rapid-fire app culture in favour of "slow dating." This means fewer dates, more intention. People are prioritising quality over quantity, taking the time to get to know someone before jumping into anything serious. It's not about playing hard to get - it's about being present, asking thoughtful questions and really listening. If you're looking for love this summer, slow it down. Ask yourself what you truly want in a partner and give each new connection the chance to grow organically.

TREND #2: ACTIVITY-BASED DATES ARE BOOMING

Gone are the days of awkward first drinks at loud bars. In 2025, dating is all about shared experiences. From beach picnics to pottery classes, singles are choosing fun, low-pressure activities that allow for natural conversation and real bonding. It's the perfect way to show off your personality and see someone else's in action. This summer, try suggesting a farmer's market stroll, a bike ride, or even a group pickleball match. The goal is to connect while doing something you both enjoy.

TREND #3: DIGITAL DETOX DATING

Many people are taking a break from the traditional dating apps and finding love the old-fashioned way - in real life. This trend is being called "digital detox dating," and it's all about meeting people through friends, hobbies and everyday encounters. Not only is it refreshing, but it also removes the pressure of profiles and perfect selfies.

So say yes to more invitations, join that community class you've been eyeing, or simply smile at someone at your local coffee shop. You never know who you might meet when you're fully present.

HOW TO FIND LOVE THIS SUMMER

The key to finding love this summer is to focus on joy and openness. Instead of approaching dating as a job or a chore, treat it like an opportunity to meet interesting people and enjoy the moment. Update your mindset: every date doesn't need to lead to a relationship, but every date can be a chance to learn more about yourself and what you value in others. This summer, be bold. Start conversations. Flirt with your eyes. Say yes to something (or someone!) unexpected. Love isn't always found where we think it will be - sometimes, it surprises us on a sunny afternoon walk or while standing in line for gelato.

So get out there, sunhat and all. The summer of love is calling - and your next great connection might be just around the corner.

We get it Surrey isn’t just leafy lanes and weekend brunches it’s school runs, deadlines, and the eternal quest to feel human after a week of adulting Coffee and supplements? They’re plasters That’s why we dropped IV therapy into Esher’s wellness scene: no referrals, no pretence, just science that meets you where you are

The NAD+ Drip (Cellular Reboot)

- Inside: NAD+ (DNA repair, mitochondrial fuel) + electrolytes

- For: Jet-lagged travellers, peri/menopausal warriors, and gym-goers chasing PBs without burnout

- Why: NAD+ levels halve by age 50 Replenish yours in 45 minutes

But why this one?

A-listers may call it the “fountain of youth,” but Rabea swears by it for everyone: sleep deeper, mood brighter, inflammation flushed so your body can heal “NAD+ isn’t just for celebrities,” she says “I haven’t felt this energetic in years ”

Why The FIT Partnership?

We didn’t want a clinic we wanted a community

The FIT Partnership’s “Age Well, Live Better” ethos aligned perfectly:

- Biohacking, Unsnobbed: Cryotherapy for schoolrun mums Infrared saunas for melting stress, not budgets

- Clinical Comfort, Redefined: Mood-lit pods with an amber glow, warmth dialled just high enough to cocoon you not roast Lie back, let the vitamins work, and pretend your to-do list doesn’t exist (Our secret: the best healing happens when you actually relax )

- No Gatekeeping: A space where teachers, freelancers, and weekend warriors cross paths united by sustainable energy

- Pause, Don’t Optimise: Post-drip, sip a green smoothie or latte in our lounge Flip through this mag Breathe

Helena’s happy place

INSIDE THE JOYFUL, DESIGN-LED HOME OF HELENA CHRISTENSEN

Why are Danes consistently among the world’s happiest people? According to BoConcept’s new Global Artistic Director, Helena Christensen, happiness starts at home. “Design isn’t just about how something looks—it’s about how it makes you feel,” she says. “Your home should reflect your personality and bring you peace.”

At the heart of Helena’s approach is emotion-led design—spaces that soothe, inspire, and spark joy. Her Copenhagen home is a blend of Danish simplicity and personal expression. Organic forms, like those in Charlotte Høncke’s Sweet Art collection, bring an instant smile. “I’m drawn to the playful shapes and soft colours— they feel alive.”

Cosiness is essential, too. In true Danish fashion, Helena carves out ‘hyggekrog’ moments—quiet nooks with candles, plants and books. “Every corner should feel inviting,” she says. “Somewhere to throw yourself down and breathe.”

Her home tells a story—each object collected over decades of travel, each piece curated with

care. “I’ve always been a collector,” she says. “My home is my inner world, turned outward.”

She believes in balance—pairing the clean lines of classic Danish furniture with eclectic art and layered textiles. “There’s beauty in contrast.

A simple sofa next to a wall of paintings, or a sculptural lamp beside an old photograph—it makes a space feel lived-in and loved.”

Nature plays its part, too. “I often sit by the window just watching the rain or the birds outside,” she says. “That connection to the outdoors brings me calm.”

Colour and texture are the finishing touches. From bold prints to tactile fabrics, Helena’s home is filled with things that delight the senses. “I don’t follow rules,” she says. “I follow feeling.”

To discover more ways to design for happiness, visit BoConcept Guildford at 89 Woodbridge Road, or find them on the 2nd Floor at Fenwick Kingston. You can also explore the full collection and get inspired online at BoConcept.com.

“BoConcept’s aesthetic is about timeless, elegant, classic pieces with very clean lines”
