MEGHAN & HARRY DENY PUBLICITY STUNT

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s camp have slammed claims that their recent statement about a high speed paparazzi chase was made up.

Harry, Meghan and her mum Doria Ragland were in New York City on May 16th to attend the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards, where the Duchess was honoured. According to the pair’s rep, after leaving the event, the trio were involved in a “near catastrophic car chase” with “highly aggressive paparazzi.”

Although now a week after the event, a rep for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is having to address claims that the incident was concocted for publicity.

“Respectfully, considering the Duke’s family history, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anybody associated with them to believe this was any sort of P.R. stunt,” their rep told the New York Times, referencing the death of Harry’s mother Princess Diana, who was killed in a 1997 car crash.

“Quite frankly, I think that’s abhorrent,” she added.

DISICK WILL “ALWAYS BE A SPECIAL PART” OF KARDASHIAN FAMILY

Kris Jenner took to Instagram to wish Scott Disick, who shares three kids with ex Kourtney Kardashian, a happy 40th birthday.

“I want you to know you are loved and appreciated always,” the momager wrote.

“Scott, you are so amazing! I have known you for a couple of decades now and I can’t believe how fast time flies by. You are an amazing son, dad, uncle, friend, and will always be a special part of our family.”

Keeping up the compliments, Kris added, “You are so funny, kind, creative, strong, smart, collaborative, generous, and adventurous. Thank you for all of the memories we have made and the ones that are yet to come!! I love you!!!” Along with the message, the matriarch included a carousel of photos that featured snaps of her and Scott attending the 2019 Kardashian Christmas Party and filming a confessional.

Despite Disick not having been with Kourtney for over 4 years now and Kourtney remarrying, Kris has made clear he will always be a part of their families lives.

PHILLIP QUITS THIS MORNING AMID AFFAIR & TOXICITY

Phillip Schofield has sensationally quit ITV show ‘This Morning’ after admitting to an affair with a much younger ITV colleague, mounting pressure about “toxicity” on the show and speculation about his fallout with co-presenter Holly.

Poor Phillip Schofield hasn’t been out of the front page of the news for over a month now! The final nail in the coffin that forced him to quit was his affair with a colleague who was only 15 when Schofield first met him on the set of the popular ITV morning show.

Phillip said in a statement: “I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

There has also been a lot of criticism from fans of the show about on and offscreen tension with co-host Holly, who has come out talking publicly about Schofield and the news of his affair and “lies”:

“It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”

Phillip’s former agent YMU issued a statement to confirm they had parted ways with the star after 35 years:

“Honesty and integrity are core values for YMU’s whole business, defining everything we do. Talent management is a relationship based entirely on trust. This week, we have learned important new information about our client Phillip Schofield. These facts contradicted what Phillip had previously told YMU, as well as the external advisors we had brought in to support him. As a result, on Thursday we agreed to part company with Phillip, with immediate effect.”

Plus, previous show regular Dr Singh has talked publicly about “toxicity” on the ITV show as has previous presenter

Eamonn Holmes. Eamonn took to Twitter to brand Phillip “delusional” after he issued a statement claiming that ‘This Morning’ was far from toxic, despite all the claims.

BREAD-BAKED CHICKEN & SUMMER GARDEN SALAD

Bake chicken legs in a bread crust to lock in the moisture and keep them really juicy, then add the crust to tomato, carrot and leaf salad for extra crunch. A perfect light and healthy Summer dish.

INGREDIENTS

(Serves 2)

• 2 chicken legs

For the bread crust:

• 200g strong bread flour, plus extra for dusting

• 5g fast-action dried yeast

• 1 tsp caster sugar

• 1 tsp picked thyme leaves

For the salad

• 2 handfuls mixed lettuce

• 1 carrot, peeled into ribbons

• 1 heirloom tomato, cut into wedges

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 1 tbsp white wine vinegar

• 4 anchovy fillets, cut lengthways

• Salad cream, to serve

METHOD

1. To make the crust, combine all the ingredients with a pinch of salt. Pour in 120ml of warm water and bring everything together, then knead for about 10 minutes to form a

smooth ball of dough. Divide the dough into two balls, then roll out each one to a thickness of 0.5cm on a lightly floured surface.

2. Lay a chicken leg in the middle of each sheet of dough, then fold in the sides to form parcels – a bit like a pasty. Put the parcels on a tray lined with baking parchment. Can be prepared a few hours ahead and chilled in the fridge until ready to cook.

3. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/ gas 6. Bake the chicken parcels for 45 minutes, then remove from the oven and leave to stand for 20

minutes. Carefully open the parcels with a sharp serrated knife, then lift the chicken onto a baking tray. Grill the chicken for 5 mins to crisp up and colour the skin – or use a blowtorch if you have one, which would be faster and more even.

4. Chop some of the bread parcel into chunks and grill until crisp, then transfer to a bowl and toss with the lettuce, carrot and tomatoes.

5. Dress the salad with the olive oil and the vinegar. Serve each chicken leg with some salad topped with the anchovies, and with a blob of salad cream on the side.

WINE PAIRING

This is a perfect, light summer dish that would lend itself well to one of the top three best-selling white wines on the market. Namely a Chardonnay (but select one with made little or no oak contact) a Pinot Gris (a fruitier of all the French wines) or a classic Italian Pinot Grigio would also make a fantastic choice for this meal, with the pear and apple notes carrying the delicacy of the chicken and salad beautifully.

INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY

Harrison Ford makes his final comeback as the beloved Indiana Jones in cinemas across the UK, on June 30th. Having been 15 years since the release of ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’, Ford’s making his highly-anticipated reappearance alongside British ‘Fleabag’ star Phoebe Waller-Bridge starring as Helena Shaw, Jones’ Goddaughter.

Having described the filming as “Tough, Long and Arduous” Ford, now aged 80, brings his 42-year journey as the esteemed archaeologist to a close claiming he is “very happy” with the final product.

Indy’s adventures have always had historical inspiration and this one is no different. As the film is largely set in 1969, we finish the film series as we started, where a group of ‘ex’ Nazi’s led by actor Mads Mikkelsen, take on the role of Indy’s fearful opposition. Whilst we see our young and beloved Ford making appearances in believed flashbacks, fans are speculating time travel for the German-American space race set to take place.

Mikkelsen, has previously named ‘Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark’ as his favourite film of all time and is as excited as we are for the return of the “dense and epic” Indy to grace our screens again.

For families and adults having followed Ford back from 1981 in his first appearance in ‘The Raiders of the Lost Ark’, the fifth and final film definitely can’t be missed.

HANA – SOPHIE ELLISBEXTOR

Following the release of her charttopping, lead single ‘Breaking the Circle’, June 2nd proves an exciting day for us all as Sophie Ellis-Bextor is set to release her new album ‘HANA’. Having worked tirelessly with friend, co-writer and producer Ed Harcourt we’re lucky enough to see a 12-song album inspired by Eastern Asia.

Tracks such as ‘Tokyo’, written following Sophie’s pre-pandemic travels “before the world tilted” as she put it so eloquantly, contribute to Harcourts description of the new album being a vision of “kaleidoscopic joy”.

The ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ singer brought us such laughs and light during lockdown with her kitchen discos making Harcourts comment so easy to believe.

This is the first album release for EllisBextor since 2016’s ‘La Familia’ and marks her third album collaboration with Harcourt.

Sophie dropped the second single from the album, ‘Everything Is Sweet’ on March 26th and describes the track “as a song about a fantasy world. There’s someone you want to be with, they haven’t noticed you at all and your mind has concocted a dream world where you and that person are together in a utopia!” Beautiful!

Ready in time for the Summer sun (we hope!), HANA, Ellis-Bextor’s seventh studio album, is sure to add to all the summer vibes and smiles.

The Jacobite Steam Train, also known as the “Harry Potter Train” runs from Fort William, passing through the Glenfinnan Viaduct and into Mallaig in Scotland. Getting to test drive the new Lotus

Emira at the famous number one Bell & Colvill Dealership in West Horsley was seriously good fun. We were surprised by its comfort, wowed by its speed and mightily impressed with its outstanding aerodynamics, hydraulic steering and unrivalled driving experience.

LOTUS EMIRA

The Emira is powered by either a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine through a manual, automatic or Dual Clutch Transmission, promising to deliver breath-taking performance and class-leading ride and handling – suitable for any driving capability.

I would definitely say in my car driving experience, the Lotus Emira is now a serious competitor to the Porche. It is a junior supercar with everyday usability, beautifully balanced with excellent steering weight. Delivering a shift in practicality, comfort, functionality and technology, it is a true Lotus – nimble, mid-engined, exotic looking while still being competitively priced.

As a woman driver and tester, this car surpassed all my expectations… comfortable, convenient and a pleasure to drive. Even though most Lotus Amira buyers are men – this is a luxury sports car that is equally suited to women drivers. The Lotus Emira accelerates to 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 180mph. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to hit the top speeds on our test drive around

the Newlands Corner and Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - but we definitely got to pick up some speed and get a good feel for Emira’s capability. Thanks to Bell & Colvill’s Antonia Bowyer, Lotus Sales Executive and Former Caterham Racing Car Driver!

The countdown is on… Summer is nearly upon us. There have been so many exciting things happening over the past few weeks including a trip to Buckingham Palace and my special order Hermes!

Last month I also headed off to St Tropez for the weekend for our annual girls trip. I adore the charm and glamour of the French Riviera. We decided on booking Château de la Messardière which is part of the Airelles collection. One of the girls had only just come back from there last September but was very keen to visit again, now I see why!

It is honestly one of the most exquisite hotels I have ever stayed at. The hotel holds 99 rooms and suites inside the Château with the most elegant muted décor nestled amongst the surrounding manicured gardens which feels very Provencal. The rooms are both relaxed and chic with a fully stocked minibar might I add! We had such a warm welcome with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot perfectly chilled in our room, a beautiful cake and a bowl of perfectly ripe, sweet strawberries. There

was also a set of pyjamas to take home, a his and hers hat, vanity pouch, towel and reusable water bottle. At this point I was regretting only bringing a small suitcase. There were so many other thoughtful perks. First and foremost the hotel shuttle to take you into town and to the beach (also free of charge) was a Rolls Royce Cullinans. This is obviously subject to availability but going outside of season has its perks. When departing the hotel we were given a whole box of L’aduree macaroons each. My plan was to save them for the kids but I figured they would be wasted so I consumed most of them as I felt sorry for myself being a little hungover with a 1.5 hour journey back to Nice airport.

After spending some time with the girls, I was looking forward to some quality time with hubby. We had date night coming up and this time it was something a little different. We had tickets for a private tour of Buckingham Palace. We got exclusive access to the State rooms and ballroom with a very informative guide. It is something that I highly recommend.

The gift shop was great too, it had a fab selection of Christmas ornaments (who doesn’t want a Royal crown decoration for their tree?!) it even had a corgi toy selection! You can book tickets through the Royal Collection Trust website but be quick as they sell out fast. Of course, we had to follow it with some delicious food so we headed over to Zuma for a lychee martini and tasty nibbles. As it was early in the evening, we requested to sit at the chef’s bar for a more informal vibe. My favourite is always the salmon and tuna tartare with Oscietra Caviar and crispy lotus chips.

HERMES SPECIAL ORDER

The week before our date night, I received an email that I had been waiting for, for one and a half years. Finally, my Hermes special order bag had arrived! If you have been following me for a while you will know that last January I placed a special order bag. I have explained the process in my previous column but I will recap. Even if you are a Hermes connoisseur or not, it is intriguing to hear about the process.

A special order is where the customer is allowed to select certain options such as particular seasonal colours and certain sized bags. That bag is then made especially for that customer based on those specifications. I believe that each sales associate (SA) can choose one person twice a year so I feel very privileged to be offered.

I can now reveal the colour I went for was Vert Vertigo, with Malachite on the inside and stitching. Both are green colours with vert vertigo being a true green with a cooler undertone, and malachite being a slightly darker green. They complement each other beautifully but subtly. Most people that get offered a special order go for a more ‘out there’ contrast. The contrasting colours are not offered on regular bags, so how else are people supposed to know that it

is a special order?! The horseshoe stamp is actually the main indicator that the bag is a special order.

I decided to go for ostrich leather as it is something a bit more unique and special and something I probably wouldn’t get offered as a wishlist item unless I was a VIP. I went for permabrass hardware as this is something only offered on a special order item so again really unique. It’s in between gold and silver and more of a light champagne colour so it will go perfectly with whatever jewellery I am wearing.

You are probably thinking why am I so excited and what is the fuss about, after all its just a bag right?! The incredible thing is that because it is so rare, if I ever wanted to sell it, I would get three times the amount of what I paid. If you think about it, it’s one of the best investments you will ever make, better than stocks and shares, better than property… the list goes on! Just to clarify it is something I will never sell as I love it so much. I appreciate the craftsmanship that has gone into it, the history behind it and the process that I took personally to get there. To me it’s more than just a bag, it’s an heirloom, something my daughter will inherit one day when I am old and grey. Until then, I will be enjoying her at any given opportunity.

Cuffing Season (when people get into a relationship just for the winter) is officially OVER.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready for rooftop bars, rosé drinks and outside gigs and movies are a must. There is something magical about being single in summer. Dating is easier as you are not confined to indoor activities. Evenings are longer so you can enjoy the pub garden and still use public transport home safely (we hope!) and in general everyone is in a better mood.

If you are sick of online dating, Summer is the time you can go old school and go to a buzzing bar or restaurant and chances of meeting a match are 50% higher than in Winter.

So, if you are single here are some top Summertime tips.

• In all my years as a dating coach the most success is gained from going out on the hunt for a potential partner with one other single person. If you have a wing man/woman who is not single you will be giving off mismatched vibes. You will be open and ready to chat to potential suitors and they are closed and far from interested in having to entertain ‘the friend’.

• While you flirt your socks off they are desperate to drop them so you can get back to it being just the two of you. So, make it easier for yourself and get a single wing person.

• Yes, it is still possible to go out, chat to lots of people, get multiple numbers and be asked out on a date all in one night out. It sounds like an urban legend but whenever I take my clients out for a live coaching session we never leave ‘empty handed’.

• During a coaching session I teach clients how to flirt, spot red flags, how to approach someone, how to ask if they are single without actually asking if they are single and then if all goes well seal the deal with swapped social media/number etc. Recently I was with a client and we finished the evening with 2 numbers and a kiss and she said she hadn’t snogged anyone in a bar in years and it was one of the best nights of her whole single life. Keep the faith - it’s possible.

• Check your local magazine (Surrey Rocks Calendar on page 15 is fab!) for fun activities. Look for wine tasting, art classes, choirs, pottery making etc.

• Try to make the activities solo ones. I know it’s scary but you will be much more inclined to speak to others if you are there alone and not clinging to your plus one like a safety net which can stop you really enjoying the company of other strangers and potential meet new friends in the group. Doing activities is always a winner for meeting people. Remember, meeting new friends can be just as valuable as meeting a romantic partner. If all your mates are in a relationship you need more single wing men and wing women to help you.

Not only will the activity be fun (even if you can’t paint

or make pottery for toffee!) you will feel proud to have gotten out of your comfort zone and achieved something. You also have a great topic to discuss for your next date night.

Remember, on a date it’s not just you who are judging them, but they are also judging you and you will be able to showcase a much more interesting side of you with good topics to chat about and a nice list of interesting hobbies.

If you are in a relationship this month then beware of the ‘June Drift.’ This is where the warm weather brings the drifting of couples as they start spending more time out of the house independently of each other and over the course of the next couple of months, that distance can lead to the breakdown of the relationship because you just haven’t spent any quality time together and drifted apart. So make sure you make time for date nights. Make time for sex too! Make time for listening to each other. Try to avoid drifting, if you are aware of it, as you are now cause you’re reading this it will be easier to spot!
