Από εκεί επίσης µπορείτε να ταξιδέψετε στην Πάτµο, το νησί που µόνασε ο Αγ. Ιωάννης ο Θεολόγος και έγγραψε την Αποκάλυψη. Υπάρχει δελφίνι που µπορεί να σας πάει µέχρι την κοσµοπολίτικη Κω ενώ υπάρχουν και συνδέσεις για µικρότερα νησιά όπως η Λέρος, το Αγαθονήσι, οι Αρκοί και οι Λειψοί. Για όσους επιθυµούν να πάνε στους Φούρνους που φηµίζονται για την ησυχία τους αλλά και τα φρέσκα ψάρια, µπορούν να πάρουν από το Καρλό-

βασι είτε το πλοίο της γραµµής ή µικρότερα πλοία που εκτελούν τοπικές γραµµές. Αντίστοιχα µπορείτε να ταξιδέψετε προς την Ικαρία και την Χίο. Το Κουσάντασι είναι και αυτό σε απόσταση αναπνοής και συνδέεται µε το Καρλόβασι, τη Σάµο (Βαθύ) και το Πυθαγόρειο καθηµερινά. Ενδεικτικά προτείνουµε να επισκεφθείτε την αρχαία Έφεσο, τη Σµύρνη, το Αϊδήνιο και φυσικά να περιπλανηθείτε στο τουριστικό Κουσάντασι.

From Pythagorio you can take a small boat for a tour around the island and a day in Samiopoula. This port also has catamaran to Patmos, the island where St John wrote the Revelation. Besides the orthodox attraction though, Patmos is a characteristic traditional island worthy to visit. Other destinations are Kos, Leros, Agathonisi, Arkoi, Lipsi. For those who love eating fresh fish Fournoi are ideal. Fournoi are a cluster of small quiet islands that are connected with Samos and Karlovasi ports.

These ports also have routes to Ikaria and Chios.

As Samos is so close to Turkey, you can go for a day visit or for more days to Kusadasi or Smyrni (Izmir). Small boats depart daily from Karlovassi, Vathy and Pythagorio. Those interested in ancient sites can visit Ephesus, Smyrni (Izmir) or enjoy Kusadasi.

In Pythagorio können Sie ein Boot finden, mit dem Sie eine Fahrt um die Insel machen können, oder das Sie zur zauberhaften Insel Samiopoula bringt. Von da aus können Sie außerdem - sogar als Tagesausflug - auf die Insel Patmos reisen, wo Ag. Ioannis Theologos als Mönch lebte und die Apokalypse schrieb. Es gibt aber noch mehr Auswahl. Wer auf die Insel Fourni fahren will, die für ihre Ruhe sowie den frischen Fisch berühmt ist, kann mit dem Linienschiff oder kleineren Schiffen von Karlovasi aus dahin fahren.

Entsprechend können Sie auf die schöne Insel Ikaria oder die nahe Insel Chios reisen.

Kusadasi ist täglich mit mehreren Abfahrten mit Samos (von Karlovassi, Vathy, Pythagorion). Sie können einen Tagesausflug machen oder mehrere Tage bleiben, da die kleinasiatische Küste viele Schönheiten und bedeutende Denkmäler hat! Ansatzweise empfehlen wir Ihnen das antike Ephesos, Smyrna und natürlich einen Spaziergang im touristischen Kusadasi.

Ιστορία - History - Geschichte Von der Thematik der ältesten gefundenen Vasen wird offenbart, dass die Kultur vor der kykladischen besteht. Laut Thukydides waren die Karer und die Leleger, die Träger der Entwicklung der kykladischen Kultur.

Μετά την πτώση του Κυκλαδικού ακουλουθεί ο Μινωικός πολιτισµός ενώ στη συνέχεια επικρατεί ο Μυκηναϊκός. Το 1360 π.Χ. εµφανίζονται οι πρώτοι Μυκηναίοι αποικιστές. Ο πρώτος βασιλέας είναι ο Αγκαίος, τον οποίο διαδέχεται στη συνέχεια ο γιός του, Σάµος.

After the fall of the Cycladic Civilization follows the Minoan one, while the Mycenaean Civilization prevails later on. The first Mycenaean settlers appear in 1360bC. The first king was Angaeos, who is succeeded by his son, Samos.

In 900bC, we have the advent of the Ionians, and in the 6th century B.C the tyrant Polykratis becomes sovereign, an era during which Samos blooms.

In 479bC, the people of Samos, aided by the Athenian fleet, defeat the Persians in the naval battle of Mykalis, and thereon become a member of the Athenian Alliance.

Στη συνέχεια, κατά τη Βυζαντινή αυτοκρατορία το νησί µεταλλάσσεται δραστικά µε το έντονο χριστιανικό στοιχείο. Με την πτώση της Βυζαντινής αυτοκρατορίας, το νησί υποτάσσεται στους Οθωµανούς και ο πληθυσµός ελαττώνεται σηµαντικά. Μετά το 1550, οι Τούρκοι αποφασίζουν τον εποικισµό του νησιού εκ νέου µε την πρωτοβουλία του Οθωµανού ναυάρχου Κιλίτζ Αλή που παίρνει την άδεια του Σουλτάνου Σουλεϊµάν του Μεγαλοπρεπούς και τη βοήθεια του Πάτµιου Νικολάου Σαρακίνη που γίνεται ο πρώτος εποικιστής.

Later on, the Byzantine Empire drastically combines the island with the intensely Christian element. After the fall of the Byzantine Empire, the island is taken by the Ottoman empire and its population is slowly, radically diminished. After 1550A.D the Turks decide the re-colonization of the island, under the initiative of the Ottoman admiral Kilitz Ali. He is given permission by the Sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent, and aided by Nikolaos Sarakinis of Patmos, who becomes the first settler.

SARAKINIS-TURM:

Χτίστηκε τη δεκαετία του 1570 από τον Νικόλαο Σαρακίνη, αξιωματούχο του τούρκου ναύαρχου Κιλιτζ Αλή ο οποίος αποφάσισε για τον εποικισμό του νησιού το 1562. O Σαρακίνης ανέλαβε την διοίκηση της γύρω περιοχής και έχτισε αυτόν τον μοναδικό πύργο. Είναι καθαρά οχυρωματικού τύπου κτίσμα, με τρεις ορόφους, χτισμένο εξ’ολοκλήρου από πελεκημένες πέτρες. Είναι 13 μ. μήκος, 6,5 μ. πλάτος και 11 μ. ύψος. Διαθέτει επάλξεις και καταχύστρα, όπως συνηθιζόταν σε αντίστοιχα κτίσματα.

Τhis tower was built around 1570 by Nikolas Sarakinis, an officer under the Turkish Admiral Kilitz Ali, who decided the re-colonization of the island in 1562. Sarakinis took up the supervision of the surrounding area and constructed this exquisite building, which is 13m long, 6,5m wide and more than 11m high. It is a purely fortifying three-storey building, built entirely of chiseled rock. It has got battlements, which is typical of buildings of the kind.

Er wurde in den 1570er von Nikolaos Sarakinis gebaut, Amtsträger des türkischen Admirals Kilitz Ali, der die Besiedlung der Insel 1562 beschloss. Oι ξένες δυνάµεις αποφασίζουν µε το πρωτόκολλο του Λονδίνου το νησί να µείνει εκτός του Ελληνικού Κράτους. Η Σαµιακή Ηγεµονία (1834) γίνεται η νέα πραγµατικότητα και φέρνει το νησί ξανά σε µια περίοδο πολιτικής αλλά και πνευµατικής προόδου ενώ έχει εξασφαλίσει πλήρη αυτονοµία και ανεξαρτησία. ∆ηµιουργούνται τυπογραφεία, γίνεται συγγραφή σπουδαίων έργων µε αντικείµενο τις επιστήµες και τα γράµµατα. Μετά το 1850 το νησί µπαίνει σε πιο έντονη αναπτυξιακή τροχιά µε το εµπόριο, τη βιοµηχανία και τη ναυτιλία να παίζουν κύριο ρόλο.

The foreign Forces decide, through the London Protocol, that Samos should remain outside of the fledgling Hellenic State. The Samian Hegemony (1834) is reconstructed and it the new reality, bringing the island once again in a time of political and spiritual progress, while establishing full independence. Printing offices are created, as well as many important scientific and spiritual works are being written.

After 1850 the island reaches a more drastic boom of development, with commerce, industry and shipping playing key roles.

Στα δύσκολα χρόνια του Β’ Παγκοσµίου Πολέµου οι Σαµιώτες εξουθενώνονται από τις λεηλασίες των Ιταλών (19411943) και τους βοµβαρδισµούς των Γερµανών (1943-1944). Μετά την λήξη του Πολέµου οι Σαµιώτες βρίσκονται σε αντίπαλα στρατόπεδα και οδηγούνται στον αιµατηρό Εµφύλιο (1947-1949).

The Balkan Wars cause great concern to the island and in 1912 the Samians seek the unification with the rest of Greece. During the rough years of WWII the Samians are ravaged by the looting of the Italians (1941-1943) and German bombardments (1943-1944).

After the War the Samians find themselves in opposing sides and are driven to the bloody Civil War of 1947-1949.

Ηγήθηκε του κινήματος ανατροπής του ηγεμόνα Κοπάση το 1908 χωρίς επιτυχία. Επανήλθε με κίνημα εναντίον της τουρκικής φρουράς του νησιού το 1912 το οποίο και πετυχε. Ανακηρύχθηκε κυβερνητης του νησιου και κήρυξε την Ένωση με το Ελληνικό Κράτος. Διετέλεσε τεσσερις φορές πρωθυπουργός της Ελλάδας. Πέθανε το 1949.

Born in Vathi, Samos, in 1860, he studied Philosophy and Archaeology in Athens and Germany. He served as an Archaeology Professor in the University of Athens. He led the unsuccessful movement to overturn the Ruler Kopasis in 1908, and returned with a movement against the Turkish army on the island, which met with success. He was declared the governor of the island and he declared the unification of the army with the Greek State. He served 4 times as Prime Minister of Greece, before dying in 1949.

Στη Μολδοβλαχία διετέλεσε γραμματέας του Υψηλάντη, έλαβε τον τίτλο του “λογοθέτου”, μυήθηκε στη Φιλική Εταιρεία και ανέλαβε καθήκοντα αρχηγού για την Επανάσταση. Το σύστημα διοίκησης που σχημάτισε διατηρήθηκε ως και στα χρόνια της Ηγεμονίας. Απέκρουσε πολλές φορές τους Τούρκους από το 1822 έως το 1826.

He was born in 1772 at Karlovasi by the name George Paplomatas. He studied at Porphyries’ School and went on with his studies in Istanbul, and also studied medicine in Bucharest. In Moldovlachia he served as secretary to Ypsilantis, received the honorary title of “Logothetis”, was initiated in “Philiki Eteria” and took up leading authorities in the Revolution. He formed a political system which was maintained for many years. Between 1822 and 1826 he fought back the Turks numerous times.

From Lekka we can slope up towards Kastania (chestnut tree) village. We are now at the roots of Mountain Kerkis, at 350m altitude. The countless chestnut trees have given their name to this beautiful village which maintains its patterns of old. It’s worth taking a walk around its alleys, and admiring the laundry houses, still in use by local housewives. The area is verdant, with pines, chestnut and walnut trees, and with beautiful little chapels around. From here the road continues to the ring road of Marathokampos, and from here you can head to Kosmadaei village.

Kontakeika - Ydroussa Leaving Karlovassi and heading east, we turn left to the village Ydroussa. The route is a continuous interchange of vineyards, gardens and glens with planes.

Σε υψόµετρο 300 µ. τα Κοντέικα βρίσκονται σε µια πλαγιά, χωµένα σε λόφους και αθέατα από τη θάλασσα. Η πλατεία του χωριού είναι ιδανική για καφέ το µεσηµέρι αλλά και µεζέδες τα βράδια του καλοκαιριού. Τον Αύγουστο εδώ οργανώνονται γιορτές κρασιού. Στολίδια του χωριού αποτελούν η εκκλησία των γενεθλίων της Παναγίας και το ∆ηµοτικό Σχολείο. Φεύγοντας από τα Κοντέικα µπορούµε να κατευθυνθούµε είτε προς το χωριό Άγιοι Θεόδωροι (δεξιά) είτε προς το χωριό Πλάτανος (αριστερά). Προς τους Αγ. Θεοδώρους η διαδροµή είναι µοναδική. Η πυκνή βλάστηση των πεύκων αποτελεί θησαυρό για το νησί και καταφύγιο για το µικρό αυτό χωριό. Τα σπίτια διατηρούν το παραδοσιακό χρώµα ενώ η εκκλησία των Αγ. Θεοδώρων δεσπόζει στο κέντρο. Κατηφορίζοντας από τον Μαρα-θόκαµπο φτάνουµε στον Όρµο Μαραθοκάµπου, το επίνειο του χωριού. ∆ιατηρεί ακόµα το χρώµα του κλασικού παραλιακού ψαροχωρίου µε πολλά ταβερνάκια στο λιµάνι. Η παραλία στα ανατολικά του οικισµού (Βελανιδιά) έχει µεγάλα βότσαλα, είναι ήσυχη και µοναχική. Συνεχίζοντας µε κατεύθυνση προς τα δυτικά του νησιού περνάµε από τον Κάµπο Μαραθοκάµπου και την περιοχή Βοτσαλάκια. Εδώ ξεκινά µια απέραντη παραλία µε βότσαλο και πεντακάθαρα κρυστάλλινα νερά.

Descending from Marathokampos village, we arrive at Ormos (cove) of Marathokampos, the village’s port. It maintains the atmosphere of a typical fishing village, with many taverns at the port. There is also a pebbled beach (Velanidia) at the east of the dorp, which is serene and solitary. Moving further to the west, we get to Kampos of Marathokampos (or Votsalakia). This is where a vast pebbled beach with crystal clear waters begins.

Wenn man von Marathokampos aus hinuntergeht, kommt man nach Ormos von Marathokampos, der Anlegeplatz des Dorfes. Es bewahrt noch immer den Charakter des klassischen Küstenfischerdorfes mit vielen Tavernen um den Hafen herum. Der Strand östlich der Siedlung (Velanidia) hat große Kieselsteine, ist ruhig und einsam. Wenn man Richtung Westen weitergeht, kommt man am Kampos von Marathokampos und dem Gebiet Votsalakia vorbei. Hier beginnt ein unendlicher Strand mit Kieselstein und sauberem kristallklarem Wasser.

Throughout the beach there are restaurants, rooms to let, tourist agencies and quiet bars. The beach is so vast that you can chose to be in the crowd, or almost on your own! From here we can head to Pythagoras’ Cave, which is 3 kilometers away and also to the routes to Mt Kerkis.

Επιστρέφοντας στον κεντρικό δροµο, το τοπίο αλλάζει. Μπαίνουμε στα Καλαµπακτάσια. Τα δέντρα αρχίζουν να πυκνώνουν και οι βελανιδιές, τα πεύκα και οι κέδροι ζωηρεύουν τη διαδροµή προς την Καλλιθέα. Παλαιότερα γνωστή µε το όνοµα Πρινιάς είναι ένα ήσυχο χωριό χτισµένο σε µια πλαγιά στους πρόποδες του Κέρκη µε βορειοδυτική κατεύθυνση και θέα προς την Ικαρία και τη Χίο. Το µυστικό του χωριού είναι τα όµορφα ηλιοβασιλέµατα που µπορεί κανείς να απολαύσει. Από εδώ µπορούµε να πάµε παραλιακά στον όρµο Αγ. Ισίδωρος, περίφηµο καρνάγιο µε ιστορία πολλών χρόνων το οποίο είναι ακόµα σε λειτουργία και απέχει περίπου 5 χλμ. Χωµάτινος δρόµος οδηγεί επίσης στα ασκηταριά. Returning to the main road, the landscape starts to change.

We are entering the Kalambaktasia area. Vegetation is dense, and oaks, pine trees and cedars escort you in your passage to Kallithea. Once known as Prinias, Kallithea is a quiet village built on a hillside, at the roots of Mt Kerkis, with a view over Ikaria and Chios. The secret of this village is the majestic sunsets.

From here we can also follow the coastal road to Agios Isidoros cove about 5 km away, an old shipbuilding yard which is still operating. A dirt road also takes you to places where ascets lived. Many hermits dwelled here in the past, and constructed numerous chapels inside caves, and their remnants exist until today.

Proceeding on the main road, we reach the end of the line, in Drakei. In this village you will marvel on the church of St George, with Byzantine murals dating in the 13th century, and enjoy your coffee at the single café of the area.

Im kleinen Dorf können Sie die Kirche Agios Georgios mit den byzantinischen Wandmalereien des 13. Jahrhunderts bewundern und Ihren Kaffee in dem einzigen kleinen Kaffeehaus, das dort immer offen bleibt, genießen.

Koumeika - Neohori Skoureika Östlich von Marathokampos befindet sich Koumeika, ein schönes großes Dorf inmitten von Olivenhainen. In einem der gepflegtesten Dörfer der Insel sind der Dorfplatz mit den Kaffeehäusern und den alten Wasserquellen mit dem kristallklaren Wasser der Quellen der Umgebung sowie die traditionellen Häuser mit bunten Blumen geschmückt. Bekannt ist außerdem das hier stattfindende Fest am 6. August.

Von hier aus kann man zur kleinen Küstensiedlung Balos hinuntergehen, wo es Tavernen direkt am Meer. Wenn man Richtung Osten weitergeht, trifft man auf Skoureika, ein schönes und ruhiges Dorf mit malerischem Charakter, ideal für einen Spaziergang in seinen Gassen.

It is a picturesque town, which flourished after the Revolution of 1821 and nowadays it constitutes the most famous destination of the island.

Χτισµένο στα ερείπια του αρχαίου οικισµού που υπήρχε το λιµάνι που κατασκεύασε ο Πολυκράτης. Πήρε τη σηµερινή του ονοµασία πριν περίπου 50 χρόνια προς τιµήν του Πυθαγόρα.

It is built above the ruins of an ancient settlement that had a harbor constructed by Polykratis. Its current name was given about 50 years ago, in honor of Pythagoras.

Das malerische Fischerdorf, das nach der Revolution von 1821 entwickelt wurde, ist heute das berühmteste Ziel auf der Insel.

Ο Πύργος του Λυκούργου Λογοθέτη, δίπλα από το ναό της Μεταμορφώσεως του Σωτήρος στο Πυθαγόρειο χτίστηκε το 1824 πάνω σε παλαιά κτίσματα της αρχαίας εποχής. Ήταν το αμυντικό φρούριο των επανάστατων και αρχηγείο του Λογοθέτη. Φαρδιοί τοίχοι και μικρά παράθυρα με διαφορετικό μοτίβο από αυτά των παραπάνω παλαιότερων πύργων. Πλέον λειτουργεί ως Βυζαντινό μουσείο.

The tower of Lykourgos Logothetis, next to the Temple of The Transformation of The Savior in Pythagorion, was constructed in 1824 on top of buildings dating from the antiquity. It served as the defensive fortress of the revolutionists and the headquarters of Logothetis. It has got thick walls, and its windows are of a different motif, compared to the aforementioned, earlier towers.

Der Turm von Lykurgos Logothetis neben der Kirche von Metamorphosis tou Sotiros in Pythagorio wurde 1824 auf alten Gebäuden der antiken Zeit gebaut. Στο δρόµο για το Ευπαλίνειο Όρυγµα, συναντούµε το αρχαίο θέατρο. Στην ίδια θέση πάνω από τα αρχαία υπολείµατα σήµερα υπάρχει σύγχρονη ξύλινη κατασκευή στην οποία δίνονται παραστάσεις κυρίως στα πλαίσια των φεστιβάλ που διοργανώνονται τη θερινή περίοδο. Στην αρχαιότητα, στα δυτικά της πόλης του Πυθαγορείου, υπήρχαν σηµαντικές αθλητικές εγκαταστάσεις µε γυµνάσιο, παλαίστρα και στάδιο. Εκεί αργότερα (2ο µισό του 2ου αι. µ.Χ) χτίστηκαν οι Θέρµες του Πυθαγορείου, δηλαδή τα Ρωµαϊκά Λουτρά. Στις νότιες αίθουσες βρίσκονταν τα θερµά λουτρά (θερµαινόµενα), στις βόρειες τα ψυχρά λουτρά και η οκταγωνική πισίνα. Επίσης, διαπιστώθηκε η ύπαρξη θολωτής αίθουσας και χώρος αποδυτηρίων. Τέλος, οι τοίχοι και τα δάπεδα ήταν διακοσµηµένοι µε ψηφιδωτά από τα οποία σώζονται ελάχιστα σήµερα. Τα τείχη των 6700 µ. ακολουθούσαν την περιµετρο της πόλης και σήµερα µικρό µέρος τους σώζεται. Το κτίσµα αποτελείται από µεγάλους ογκόλιθους ενώ σε πολλά σηµεία υπήρχαν πύργοι.

Αbove Pythagorio, on the road to the Ditch of Eupalinos, we meet the ancient theater. At the same place, on top of the ancient remnants, there is today a wooden construction, where performances are given, mainly during the festivals organized during the summer period. During ancient times, in the west of the city of Pythagorio, there were important sports premises, with a gymnasium, palestra (type of “ring”) and stadium. Later (second half of the 2nd century A.D.) this is where the Thermes of Pythagorio were built, i.e. Roman Baths. The south halls were occupied by the hot baths, the north ones by the cold baths and the octagonal pool. During the times of Polykratis, the important works, which are referred by Herodotus, are, amongst others, the port of the city and the walls. The walls of the 6700 meters followed the perimeter of the city and today only a small part is preserved.

The construction consists of big stone blocks, whereas in many spots there were towers.

Auf dem gleichen Hügel über Pythagorio auf dem Weg zum Eupalinos-Tunnel trifft man auf das antike Theater. An der gleichen Stelle auf den antiken Überresten befindet sich heute eine moderne Holzkonstruktion, wo Vorstellungen hauptsächlich im Rahmen der Festivals stattfinden, die im Sommer veranstaltet werden.

In der Antike befanden sich im Westen der Stadt Pythagorio bedeutende Sportanlagen mit Gymnasium, Palästra und Stadion. Dort wurden später (zweite Hälfte des 2. Jahrhunderts n. Chr.) die Thermen von Pythagorio errichtet, d.h. die Römischen Bäder. Die Wände und die Böden waren mit Mosaiken verziert, von denen heute nur wenige erhalten sind. Bedeutende von Herodot erwähnte Werke aus der Zeit von Polykrates sind unter anderem der Hafen der Stadt und die Mauer. Die 6700 Meter Lange Mauer verlief um die Stadt herum und ein kleiner Teil ist heute erhalten. Das Bauwerk besteht aus großen Steinblöcken und an vielen Stellen gab es Türme.

Δίπλα από τον Πύργο του Λογοθέτη βρίσκεται η εκκλησία της Μεταμόρφωσης του Χριστού η οποία γιορτάζει στις 6 Αυγούστου. Το 1824 εκείνη την ημέρα ο Λυκούργος Λογοθέτης με τους άντρες του επέτυχαν σημαντική νίκη ενάντια στους Τούρκους. Η λαϊκή παράδοση λέει ότι ο Χριστός βοήθησε τους Έλληνες να νικήσουν και από τότε κάθε χρόνο η γιορτή αυτή είναι η σημαντικότερη για το Πυθαγόρειο. Την προηγούμενη το βράδυ καθώς και ανήμερα, χιλιάδες κόσμου κατακλύζουν την πόλη και παρακολουθούν τις εκδηλώσεις του δήμου. Μεγάλες προσωπικότητες και εκπρόσωποι της πολιτείας επισκέπτονται το Πυθαγόρειο.

Γνωστότερο από όλα είναι το «Πυθαγόρειο Θεώρημα», το γεωμετρικό θεώρημά του για το ορθογώνιο τρίγωνο. Σύμφωνα με αυτό, το τετράγωνο της υποτείνουσας είναι ίσο με το άθροισμα των τετραγώνων των δύο κάθετων πλευρών. Στις θεωρίες του, οι φιλοσοφικοί και θρησκευτικοί στόχοι έχουν άρρηκτους δεσμούς και κινούνται μαζί. Επίσης, όλα βασίζονται στους αριθμούς, το μέτρο και την αρμονία. Από πολύ μικρή ηλικία ήταν σεβαστός στην Σαμιακή κοινωνία καθώς οι γονείς του (Μνήσαρχος και Πυθαΐς) θεωρούνταν απόγονοι του Αγκαίου. Ήταν πολύ όμορφος και τόσο ικανός που στις ομιλίες του καθήλωνε το κοινό του. Έλαβε εκπαίδευση από τον Θαλή το Μιλήσιο (στα μαθηματικά και τη γεωμετρία), τον Αναξίμανδρο, τον Σύρο Φερεκύδη και τον Σάμιο φιλόσοφο Ερμοδάμαντα. Παντρεύτηκε τη Θεανώ και απέκτησε ένα γιό και δυο κόρες. Κατασκεύασε διδασκαλείο και εκπαίδευσε πολλούς νέους. Λόγω πολιτκών αντιθέσεων με τον Πολυκράτη διώχθηκε, κρύφτηκε στην ομώνυμη σπηλιά και εγκατέλειψε το νησί. Ταξίδεψε και έζησε στην Αίγυπτο, στη Βαβυλώνα, στη Δήλο, στο μαντείο των Δελφών και τέλος στην Κάτω Ιταλία και τη Σικελία όπου ίδρυσε την περίφημη σχολή του (το ομακοείον) και πολλά παραρτήματά της. Πέθανε σε μεγάλη ηλικία στο Μεταπόντιο της Κάτω Ιταλίας (περίπου το 490 π.Χ.).

Pythagoras: Born in Samos circa 580bC and the founder of mathematics, Pythagoras was also a great geometrician, astronomer, and philosopher. He also had a unique theoretical approach to music, which he combined with numbers. His most famous accomplishment is the “Pythagorean theorem”, his geometrical axiom about the right angled triangle, according to which the square of the hypotenuse side equals the sum of the addition of the square of the two vertical sides. In his theories, philosophical and religious goals have unbreakable bonds and walk side by side. What is more, everything is based on numbers, measure and harmony. From a very early age he was well-respected within the Samian society, since his parents (Mnisarchus and Pythais) were considered descendants of Angaeos. He was so handsome and such a good speech maker, that he used to captivate his audience. He was educated by Thales from Milissos (in Mathematics and Geometry), Anaximander, Ferekides from Lesvos, and the Samian philosopher Ermodamas.

He was married to Theano and had a son and two daughters.

He created a School in which he trained lots of young people.

Due to political contrast with Polykratis, he was banished, took refuge in the homonymous cave and abandoned the island.

He traveled and lived in Egypt, Babylon, Delos, at the Oracle of Delphi and finally in South Italy and Sicily, where he founded his renowned School and many of its branches. He died a very elderly man, in Metapontum of South Italy (at about 490bC).

Er war sehr hübsch und so fähig, dass er bei seinen Reden sein Publikum fesselte. Er bekam seine Bildung von Thalis Milesius (in Mathematik und Geometrie), von Anaximandros, Ferekydis aus Syros und dem Philosophen Ermodamandas aus Samos. Er heiratete Theano und bekam einen Sohn und zwei Töchter. Er gründete eine Schule und bildete viele junge Leute aus.

Wegen politischer Spannungen mit Polykrates wurde er vertrieben, er versteckte sich in der gleichnamigen Höhle und verließ die Insel. Hora (=Hauptort), wie auch der Name verrät, war vom Mittelalter bis 1854 Hauptstadt der Insel. Es befindet sich 3 Km. von Pythagorio entfernt und ist auf einer Ebene mit dem Namen Kampos“ gebaut.

Heute ist es eines der großen Dörfer der Insel und bewahrt ein reiches architektonisches Erbe bestehend aus neuklassischen zweistöckigen Gebäuden mit Material von antiken Gebäuden (Säulen, Kapitelle, usw.). Die schöne Kirche Panagia mit dem eindrucksvollen Glockenturm, die Steinwaschstellen und die Grundschule (1930) sind Gebäude, die Sie besichtigen können.

Im Norden 3 Km. entfernt ist Mytilinii. Das große Dorf erhielt seinen Namen während der Besiedlung, die hier während der türkischen Besatzung von den Lesbiern stattfand. Es ist auch wegen seiner großen Tabakproduktion ein historisches Dorf. Hauptattraktion für die Besucher im Dorf ist das Paläontologische Museum, das bedeutende und besonders seltene Fundstücke von fossilen Tieren beherbergt.

Κρυµµένο µέσα στις χαράδρες, στα 300 µ. υψόµετρο, χωριό µε µεγάλη παράδοση στα κεραµικά και την αγγειοπλαστική. Μύλοι-Παγώνδας-Σπαθαραίοι Το χωριό Μύλοι, 2 χλµ βόρεια µετά το Ηραίον, είναι ένα από τα παλαιότερα του νησιού χρονολογούµενο από την περίοδο της ερήµωσης ενώ ανασκαφές έφεραν στο φως και µυκηναϊκούς τάφους, ένδειξη ότι η περιοχή κατοικούνταν από τα αρχαία χρόνια. Από εδώ περνά ο αρχαίος ποταµός Ίµβρασος. Τα νερά της περιοχής αφθονούν έτσι οι πολλοί νερόµυλοι της περιοχής έδωσαν και το αντίστοιχο όνοµα στο χωριό. Σήµερα σώζονται ελάχιστοι από αυτούς κρυµµένοι ανάµεσα στις πορτοκαλιές και τις µανταρινιές.

Myli, two kilometers north of Hereon, is one of the most beautiful villages of the island, dating back to the years when the island was abandoned, while excavation have brought Mycenaean tombs to light, evidence that the area has been inhabited from antiquity. The ancient river Imvrassos crosses the village, and there is bountiful running water, therefore there are many watermills, and this is how the village got the name Myli (mills). Few of them are saved today, hidden among orange and lemon trees. Despite it is just a small village, it is very lovely and its beautiful square, its alleys and its stone houses are surely worth visiting. Also outside the village you will find the historical Sarakinis Tower.

Northwestern of Hereon, on the slopes of Mountain Bournias, we discover Pagondas’ village. Pagondas has got an overwhelming view, and its large square is our starting point on our way, through the many alleys, to get to the highest point of the village.

No silk-producing workshops remain (just like in Hora), and the hillsides, which are over-

Μyli - Pagondas - Spatharei Das Dorf Myli, zwei km nördlich nach Ireon, ist eines der ältesten der Insel aus der Zeit der Entvölkerung, und Ausgrabungen brachten auch mykenische Gräber ans Licht, Zeichen dafür, dass diese Region seit der Antike bewohnt wurde. Hier fließt der antike Fluss Imvrasos durch. Wegen des reichlichen Wassers in der Region gaben die vielen Wassermühlen dem Dorf den entsprechenden Namen (Myli = Mühlen). Heute sind nur noch wenige erhalten, die zwischen den Orangen- und Mandarinenbäumen versteckt sind. Außerhalb des Dorfes befindet sich der historische Sarakinis-Turm.

Nordwestlich von Ireon an den Hängen des Bournias-Berges ist das Dorf Pagondas. Das Dorf hat einen wunderschönen Ausblick. Sein großer Platz ist unser Ausgangspunkt für einen Spaziergang durch die labyrinthischen Gassen bis zum höchsten Punkt des Dorfes, wo wir das Aquädukt mit den Bogen und den Waschstellen besichtigen können.

Von der Seidenproduktion (wie auch in Chora) sind keine Werkstätten mehr geblieben,

während die mit Olivenbäumen überwachsenen Hänge auf die hauptsächliche landwirtschaftliche Tätigkeit der Bewohner hinweisen. Von hier aus kann man über eine unbefestigte Straße an den Strand Tsopela kommen.

Βορειοδυτικά του Ηραίου, στις πλαγιές του όρους Μπουρνιά είναι το χωριό Παγώνδας. Το χωριό έχει καταπληκτική θέα. Από εδώ µπορούµε να πάµε στην παραλία Τσόπελα ακολουθώντας το χωµατόδροµο.

Το κεντρικό καλντερίµι του χωριού, που ξεκινά από την εκκλησία του Αγ. Γεωργίου οδηγεί στις γειτονιές του χωριού. Ανακαλύψτε τα καφενεία, τις ταβέρνες, το παλιό δηµοτικό σχολείο και αφεθείτε στην µαγεία των γραφικών του στενών. Βόρεια του Πύργου συναντάµε τα χωριά Αρβανίτες, που ονομάστηκαν από τον 16ο αι. όταν έφτασαν εδώ από περιοχές της Στερεάς Ελλάδας. Το µικρό χωριό Μεσόγεια µε την εκκλησία της Ζωοδόχου Πηγής και το νέο λαογραφικό µουσείο είναι η πρώτη σας στάση. Ανεβαίνοντας, στα 600 µ. συναντάµε το χωριό Πάνδροσος.

Βολτα Με τζιπ... Από το Πάνδροσο μπορούμε να κατευθυνθούμε μέσω χωματόδρομου στις κορυφές του Καρβούνη (εκκλησάκι Προφήτη Ηλία, 1153μ.) και να περάσουμε στη βορινή πλευρά (Βουρλιώτες-Μανωλάτες).

Pyrgos, the beautiful village we meet on the main road, is one of the most remarkable villages of Samos. At 400 m of altitude, it spreads over two hills. Its main paved alley, starting from Agios Georgios church (1904), is full of little shops, and it takes you to evry neighborhood. Discover its taverns, and the old Primary School, and let yourself free in the magic of its alleys.

North of Pyrgos, we reach the Arvanites villages. The people who colonized this region, in the 16th century, had migrated from north Epirus. The little village called Mesogeios, with the church of Zoodochos Pigi, and the new folklore museum, is our first stop. Ascending higher, at 600m above sea level, we meet Pandrosso.

Jeep tours From Pandrosso we can take dirt roads to get to the peaks of Mt Karvounes, (chapel of Profitis Elias) and cross to the Northern side of the island (Vourliotes and Manolates).

Εσωτερικά, είχε μία γραμμή που όριζε ως που έπρεπε να τη γεμίσει κανείς. Ελάχιστη ποσότητα παραπάνω και η κούπα άδειαζε όλο το κρασί από μία κρυφή οπή στη βάση. Αυτό συμβαίνει διότι στο κέντρο της κούπας βρίσκεται μια στήλη τοποθετημένη ακριβώς πάνω από έναν σωλήνα, ο οποίος οδηγεί στο κάτω μέρος της. Εκεί είναι η κρυφή οπή. Ενώ γεμίζει η κούπα, η στάθμη του κρασιού ανεβαίνει και στο εσωτερικό της κεντρικής στήλης, βάσει του νόμου των συγκοινωνούντων δοχείων. Όσο η στάθμη του κρασιού δεν ξεπερνά τη γραμμή που είναι χαραγμένη στο εσωτερικό της κούπας το κρασί παραμένει. Όταν όμως την ξεπεράσει, ταυτόχρονα φτάνει στην κορυφή της εσωτερικής στήλης, με αποτέλεσμα μέσω του σωλήνα το παραπάνω κρασί να χύνεται από το κάτω μέρος. Η υδροστατική πίεση δημιουργεί ένα σιφόνι στον εσωτερικό σωλήνα, το οποίο αδειάζει όλο το περιεχόμενο από την οπή. Το δίδαγμα είναι ότι ο άπληστος τιμωρείται. Σήμερα εξακολουθεί η παραγωγή της από τα τοπικά εργαστήρια κεραμικών και είναι το δημοφιλές αναμνηστικό που μπορεί να πάρει κανείς από το νησί.

Pythagoras, according to local tradition, designed the “Pythagorian cup”, as it is called today. The ‘cup of justice’, as it is called in Greece, functions under the laws of Physics. The one who drinks can fill the cup with wine up to a certain level.

If this level of the wine gets over the line then the wine is spilt out of the cup through the bottom.

The central column of the cup is positioned directly over the stem of the cup and over the hole at the bottom of the stem.

A small pipe runs from this hole almost to the top of the central column, where there is an open chamber. The chamber is connected by a second pipe to the bottom of the central column, where a hole in the column exposes the pipe to the content (wine). When the cup is filled, liquid rises through the second pipe up to the chamber at the top of the central column. As long as the level of the liquid does not rise beyond the level of the chamber, everything is all right. When though the level rises further, the liquid spills through the chamber into the first pipe and out through the bottom. Hydrostatic pressure creates a siphon through the central column causing the entire contents of the cup to be emptied through the hole at the bottom. The point is to punish anyone who does not show respect and wants to drink more than the others.

Today, it is still produced in local ceramic art workshops while it is the most popular souvenir bought from Samos.

Pythagoras hatte laut der lokalen Überlieferung den “gerechten Becher“ entworfen, indem er die physikalischen Gesetze ange wendet hat, um Wein mit Maß zu trinken. Innen war eine Linie, die bestimmte, bis wohin man ihn füllen durfte. Nur ein Tropfen mehr und der Becher leerte seinen ganzen Wein aus einem versteckten Loch im Boden.

Das passiert, weil sich im Zentrum des Bechers eine Säule direkt auf einem Rohr befindet, das zum unteren Teil führt.

Dort ist das versteckte Loch.

Wenn man den Becher füllt, steigt der Weinstand auch im Inneren der zentralen Säule gemäß dem Gesetz der kommunizierenden Gefäße. Solange der Weinstand die Linie im Inneren des Bechers nicht überschreitet, bleibt der Wein darin.

Wenn er sie aber überschreitet, erreicht er gleichzeitig die Spitze der inneren Säule, so dass der überschüssige Wein durch das Rohr aus dem unteren Teil des Bechers ausläuft. Der hydrostatische Druck bildet einen Heber im inneren Rohr, der aus dem existierenden Loch den gesamten Becherinhalt leert.

Die Lehre daraus ist, wer gierig ist, der wird bestrafft. Heute wird seine Produktion von den lokalen Keramikwerkstätten fortgesetzt und ist ein beliebtes Mitbringsel, das man von der Insel mitnehmen kann.

Ο μικρός σκόπελος, στα ανοιχτά του Ηραίου, κατάφερε να δημιουργήσει γύρω από το όνομά του πολλές μυθοπλασίες. Στην αρχαιότητα, ο Θεός Απολλωνας ερωτεύτηκε την κόρη του ποταμόθεου Ίμβρασου, την πανέμορφη Ωκυρρόη η οποία όμως δεν ανταποκρίθηκε και θέλησε να το σκάσει από το νησί. Όταν θέλησε αργότερα να επιστρέψει στον πατέρα της, ο Απόλλωνας επέμενε να την ακολουθεί και τη ζήτησε να τη παντρευτεί. Ο Ίμβρασος όμως χωρίς να μπορεί να αρνηθεί στον Απόλλωνα αλλά ούτε και να χαλάσει το χατίρι της κόρης του, πέτρωσε το καράβι του γυρισμού της. Νεότερη ιστορία διηγείται ότι τον καιρό που οι πειρατές λεηλατούσαν ασταμάτητα το νησί, οι Σαμιώτες παρακαλούσαν την Παναγία τη Σπηλιανή να τους σώσει και εκείνη πέτρωσε ένα καράβι πειρατών.

This tiny reef, off the shore of Hereon, has managed to create various fables about it.

In antiquity, God Apollo fell in love with the daughter of the river god Imvrassos, the enchanting Okirroy, who did not respond to his love, she fled the island and went to Miletus, by ship. When, later, she wanted to return to her father, Apollo kept following her and asked her father to marry her. Imvrassos, not being able to deny it to god Apollo, but at the same time not wanting to make her unhappy, decided to turn her return ship into stone.

Another, fable has it that at the times that pirates looted and navigated the island incessantly, the Samians with tears in their eyes begged Panagia Spiliani to save them, and she turned a pirate ship into stone, at the place now valled ‘Petrocaravo’ (meaning ship of stone).

Diese kleine Klippe im Meer vor Ireon schaffte es, dass rund um ihren Namen viele Mythen entstanden. In der Antike verliebte sich der Gott Apollon in die Tochter des Flussgottes Imvrasos, die wunderschöne Okyrroi, die aber seine Liebe nicht erwiderte und mit dem Schiff von der Insel nach Militos flüchten wollte. Als sie dann später zu ihrem Vater zurückkehren wollte, stellte ihr Apollon nach und bat ihren Vater um ihre Hand.

Imvrasos aber, der die Bitte von Apollon nicht ablehnen konnte aber seiner Tochter auch nicht den Wunsch abschlagen konnte, versteinerte als gerechte Lösung das Schiff ihrer Rückkehr in der Flussmündung. Eine neuere Geschichte erzählt, dass die Samioten in der Zeit, als die Piraten die Insel ununterbrochen plünderten, mit Tränen in den Augen die Panagia Spiliani darum baten, sie zu retten, und sie versteinerte ein Piratenschiff an dem Ort, der heute Karavopetra genannt wird.

Φύση - Nature - Natur Η Σάµος βρίσκεται στο ανατολικό Αιγαίο, στα δυτικά παράλια της Μικράς Ασίας από την οποία χωρίζεται µε τον πορθµό της Μυκάλης (Επταστάδιος όπως ονοµαζόταν από την αρχαιότητα). ∆υτικά της είναι η Ικαρία και νότιο-δυτικά οι Φούρνοι (Κορσεοί) τα οποία αποτελούν σήµερα το Νοµό Σάµου. Η έκτασή της είναι 476 τετραγωνικά χλµ ενώ η ακτογραµµή(περίµετρος) 86 ναυτικά µίλια. Είναι νησί κυρίως ορεινό µε δύο κύριους ορεινούς όγκους οι οποίοι συνεισφέρουν στις κλιµατικές συνθήκες για την ανάπτυξη της βλάστησης. Ο Κερκετεύς (ή Κέρκης) µε ύψος 1434 µ. και κορυφή τη Βίγλα, ο οποίος συγκαταλέγεται στα υψηλότερα όρη της χώρας, ανήκει στο δυτικό τµήµα και δεν έχει πολύ βλάστηση. Ο Καρβούνης (ή Άµπελος) µε ύψος 1160 µ. και κορυφή τον Προφήτη Ηλία, απλώνεται στο κεντρικό και ανατολικό µέρος του νησιού από βορρά προς νότο και είναι κατάφυτος. Φυσικό λιµάνι είναι µόνον το Βαθύ ενώ αυτό του Πυθαγορείου που χρονολογείται από την εποχή του Πολυκράτη (530 πΧ) και του Καρλοβάσου είναι τεχνητά.

Τhe island of Samos is situated in the eastern Aegean Sea, off the west coasts of Asia Minor, from which it is separated by the Channel of Mykalis. At its west, lies the island of Ikaria and at its southwest are the islands called Fourni (or Korsei).

Together, they constitute the Prefecture of Samos. Samos spans over 476 square kilometers, while its coastline (perimeter) is 86 knots, or sea miles.

Vor dem Eingang befanden sich der prachtvolle aus dem Jahr 550 v. Chr. drei Meter hohe Altar, Gebäude an der Nord- und Südseite, Zisternen und eine Basis, wo das Schiff von Koläos mit einem großen Kupferkessel aufgestellt war.

Die etwa fünf Kilometer lange Iera Odos verband die Heiligstätte mit der Stadt und war mit Platten bedeckt. Links und rechts der Straße gab es bedeutende Kunstwerke, Opfergaben, Statuen, Kouroi und Kores, Tempel anderer Götter wie

Η πρωτεύουσα της Σάµου στην χρυσή εποχή του τυράννου Πολυκράτη είχε αυξηµένες ανάγκες παροχής νερού το οποίο δεν ήταν διαθέσιµο στην περιοχή. Έτσι ο Πολυκράτης ανέθεσε τη µελέτη και το σχεδιασµό ενός συστήµατος µεταφοράς νερού στον αρχιτέκτονα-µηχανικό Ευπαλίνο από τα Μέγαρα. Το έργο ξεκίνησε µε την προοπτική να µεταφερθεί νερό από µια κοντινή πηγή, πίσω από το λόφο. Ο Ευπαλίνος σχεδίασε τη διάνοιξη αµφίστοµης σήραγγας στο λόφο ώστε να εξοικονοµήσει χρόνο και να μεταφέρει έτσι το νερό στις δεξαµενές της πόλης. Ξεκίνησαν λοιπόν δύο συνεργεία από τις αντίστοιχες εισόδους τα οποία συναντήθηκαν µε ελάχιστη απόκλιση! Το επίτευγµα θεωρείται σηµα-ντικό διότι οι επιστηµονικές µέθοδοι µέτρησης και σχε-διασµού κατόρθωσαν κάτι που για την εποχή εκείνη θεωρούνταν εξαιρετικά δύσκολο. Η σήραγγα µήκους 1036 µέτρων χρειάστηκε πάνω από 10 χρόνια για να ολοκληρωθεί όµως αποτέλεσε έργο που χρησιµοποιήθηκε έως τους πρώτους αιώνες µ.Χ.

The capital of Samos, during the golden era of the tyrant Polykratis, had increased needs of water supply, which was not available in the area. Therefore, Polykratis appointed the study and the drawing of a system for the transportation of water to the then known architect-engineer, Efpalinos from Megara. The project begun with the perspective that water would be carried from a nearby spring which was located behind the hill that is located above the city of Pythagorio. Hence, an underground system for the transportation of water was designed, which would cross the hill and end up to the tanks of the city.

Efpalinos studied that the opening of a double-edged tunnel in the hill would save time. Thus, two groups started from the respective entrances, which met with a minimum deviation! This achievement is considered important, because the scientific methods of measuring and drawing achieved something, which, for that time, was considered extremely difficult. The tunnel, of a length of 1036 meters, took more than 10 years to complete, but it constituted a work, which was used until the first centuries A.D.

So beauftrage Polykrates den damals bekannten Architekten und Ingenieur Eupalinos aus Megara mit der Studie und der Planung eines Wasserversorgungssystems.

Das Projekt begann mit der Perspektive, Wasser aus einer nahen Quelle in die Stadt zu leiten, die sich aber hinter dem heutigen Hügel befand, der über der Stadt Pythagorio ist.

So wurde ein unterirdisches Wasserleitungssystem geplant, das den Hügel durchbohren und in den Zisternen der Stadt enden sollte. Eupalinos plante, dass die beidseitige Öffnung des Tunnels Zeit sparen würde.

Es begannen also zwei Mannschaften an den entsprechenden Eingängen, die sich mit minimaler Abweichung trafen!

Die Errungenschaft gilt als bedeutend, weil die wissenschaftlichen Mess- und Planmethoden etwas schafften, was in der Zeit für besonders schwer gehalten wurde. Für die Fertigstellung des 1036 langen Tunnels brauchte man über 10 Jahre, es war aber ein Werk, das bis zu den ersten Jahrhunderten n.

Το έθιμο μετά τον πόλεμο του 1940 εξελίχθηκε και διατηρεί τη σημερινή του μορφή. Σύσσωμο το χωριό τη νύχτα μαζεύεται στην εκκλησία για να παρακολουθήσει την Αναστάσιμη λειτουργία. Το κάψιμο του Ιούδα και το έθιμο της κούνιας αναβιώνουν την Δευτέρα της Διακαινησίμου προσελκύοντας πολλούς επισκέπτες.

Es ist ein Brauch, der sich nach dem Krieg von 1940 entwickelte und seine heutige Form bewahrt, indem er viele Menschen in Marathokampos versammelt. Das ganze Dorf versammelt sich in der Nacht in der Kirche, um am Gottesdienst der Auferstehung teilzunehmen. ”Die Auferstehung von Christus“ wird inmitten von feierlichen Schüssen und Feuerwerkskörpern verkündet, an deren Zündung fast die ganze männliche Bevölkerung teilnimmt. Ο Ενιαίος Οινοποιητικός Αγροτικός Συνεταιρισμός Σάμου συγκεντρώνει όλη την ποσότητα σταφυλιών από τους αμπελοκαλλιεργητές - μέλη του ενώ εξάγει μεγάλες ποσότητες κρασιού σε πολλές χώρες.

Since ancient times, Samos was famous for its wine, whereas as years passed by, all the excursionists described it, they always stressed that it was full of vineyards. Nowadays, many varieties are cultivated in the island but especially the Moschato grape, with the small grapes, which constitutes the dominant variety and provides one of the best and awarded sweet wines of the world, as well as excellent dry white wines. The production and disposal of the wine by the Vinicultural Union of Samos was one of the first processing activities.

The Union collects (up until today) the whole of the quantity of grapes from the local unions of each village and produces a big variety of wines, which they dispose to the market. Moreover, it exports large quantities of wine to many countries.

Seit der Antike ist Samos für ihren Wein berühmt, und wenn Reisende sie im Laufe der Zeit beschrieben, betonten sie immer, dass sie von Weinbergen überflutet ist. Heute werden auf der Insel mehrere Sorten, aber hauptsächlich die Moschato-Traube mit der kleinen Beere angebaut, die die wesentliche Sorte ist und einen der besten und ausgezeichneten süßen Weinen der Welt produziert, sowie besondere trockene Weißweine. Eine der ersten Verarbeitungstätigkeiten war die Produktion der Weines vom Verband der Winzergenossenschaften, der die gesamte Traubenmenge von den lokalen Genossenschaften jedes Dorfes einsammelt und eine breite Palette von Weinen produziert, die er auf dem Markt vertreibt.

Außerdem exportiert der Verband große Mengen von Wein in viele Länder.

Οι τηγανίτες, ενώ στην υπόλοιπη Ελλάδα παρασκευάζονται από χυλό, στη Σάµο γίνονται από ζύµη η οποία πλάθεται σε µικρά πιτάκια διαµέτρου περίπου δέκα εκατοστών τα οποία στη συνέχεια τηγανίζονται στο λάδι και προσφέρονται µε τριµµένο τυρί ή µέλι. Οι ρεβιθοκεφτέδες είναι ένα δημοφιλές πιάτο στο Αιγαίο, αλλά πάντα διαφορετικό σε κάθε νησί. Στη Σάμο είναι ένα χαρακτηριστικό ορεκτικό και σας προτείνουμε να το δοκιμάσετε.

Although“tiganites” are produced in Greece by porridge, in Samos they are made of dough formed in small pitas of a 10cm diameter and are then fried in olive oil and served with grated cheese or honey. “Revithokeftedes” (chickpea-balls): It is a popular dish in the Aegean, but always different in every island. In Samos it is a characteristic appetizer, and we suggest that you should taste it.

Από τα βότανα ξεχωρίζει το φλασκούνι. Το πασίγνωστο βότανο µε την επιστηµονική ονοµασία Menta Pulegium είναι γνωστό από την αρχαιότητα όπου ο Θεόφραστος ο Ερέσιος αναφέρει ότι (το σαµιακό) είναι το καλύτερο σε ποιότητα. Συλλέγεται και αποξηραίνεται για να γίνει βραστό ρόφηµα.

Out of the herbs, the one distinguishing is the “flaskouni”.

This famous herb, with the scientific name Menta Pulegium, is known from the ancient times, when Theophrastus from Eresos mentions that the Samian variety is the best in quality. It is collected and dried, in order to become a boiled drink, just like tea.

Während die Tiganites (Pfannkuchen) im übrigen Griechenland aus Brei gemacht werden, werden sie auf Samos aus Teig gemacht, der zu kleinen Pfannkuchen mit einem Durchmesser von ungefähr 10 Zentimetern geformt wird, die anschließend in Öl gebraten und mit geriebenem Käse oder Honig angeboten werden.

Kichererbsenkroketten: Ein beliebtes Gericht in der Ägäis, aber auf jeder Insel verschieden. Auf Samos ist es eine typische Vorspeise, die wir Ihnen empfehlen.

Ein besonderes Kraut ist Flaskuni. Das berühmte Kraut (auch Minthi genannt) mit dem wissenschaftlichen Namen Menta Pulegium ist seit der Antike bekannt, und Theofrastos Eresios erwähnt, dass dieses Kraut aus Samos qualitativ das Beste ist. Es wird gesammelt und getrocknet, um Tee daraus zu machen, wie der Bergtee (Betonica).

Μέλι (Μeli): The unique biodiversity of the island gives generously excellent food for bees to produce the honey of Samos. Herbs, shrubs and trees, some of them rare in the Aegean impart, give specific characteristics tothis pure product. Pine, cherry, rosemary, strawberry, mint, thyme, sage, mountain tea are just some of them.

Honey is an integral component of the Mediterranean diet. The honey of Samos is a special part of the island’s tradition as it is used on all feasts and accompanies many dishes to festive celebrations, weddings, christenings and of course in the daily diet.

Ouzo constitutes a product of a second distillation and has high degrees. There is addition of anise (cultivated on the island in the past), which gives it the fine aroma. The ouzo from Samos has a great tradition.
