The Program
Business administration is a field of study that focuses on the principles and practices of managing and organizing businesses and organizations. It encompasses a broad range of topics, including finance, marketing, management, operations, human resources, and strategic planning. By blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications, business administration equips students with the skills needed to lead teams, make informed decisions, and drive organizational success in a dynamic and competitive global economy.
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program, housed in the College of Business at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, prepares students for dynamic careers in business and management. With a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and leadership, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines core business principles with real-world applications.
PROGRAM MODALITIES
SUNY Poly offers two flexible learning options for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: on-campus and fully online.
• On Campus: The on campus program is intended for students enrolling directly out of high school or for transfer students who hold an associate’s degree.
• Online: The online program is tailored for transfer students who have completed at least 45 credit hours at an accredited college or university or for adult learners with three or more years of full-time work experience after finishing high school or earning an equivalent credential (transfer students, only).
SUNY Poly’s programs in the College of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
AACSB accreditation is the largest and most recognized specialized accreditation worldwide. Less than 6% of the world’s 16,000 business programs are AASCB accredited.

Our Campus
Located in Utica, NY, on hundreds of wooded and landscaped acres, SUNY Poly’s campus is a beautiful living and learning environment. Faculty Spotlight
Juan Felipe Henao, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Management Science
Dr. Henao’s collective academic experience, including a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s degree in systems engineering, equip him with a fresh and unique perspective that he brings into the classroom. Dr. Henao’s areas of research include energy modeling, planning, and management. In addition to operations research, he is particularly interested in optimizing the integration of variable renewable energies to power grids, finding sustainable energy solutions for vulnerable off-grid communities, and understanding the complementarity between renewable energy resources. His work can be found in publications such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and the Journal of Cleaner Production.
