It’s different here. The people are different. The campus is different. And the difference is what makes Purchase College so interesting. Here, it is never a case of art vs. science, technology vs. humanity, thinking vs. feeling. It’s about the exploration of unlimited and interconnected pathways. Our community is brimming with ideas, wide-open conversations, and collaborations. At Purchase, you can take the time to figure out, and then become, who you want to become.
Academics. Let what inspires you guide you. Purchase College is a rare environment where academic achievement and the skills needed for creatively driven careers develop and blend organically. No matter which of the college’s 44 majors and 29 minors you choose, you’ll have opportunities to interact with professors, artists, and fellow students from every corner of the campus.
Participation
Some students come here to devote themselves to a single discipline, others to build their own mixed majors. Many are unsure about what to study, which is okay with us. Here you are free to discover your interests and transform them into your life’s calling.
Technology
“Dance is my life, my love, and the air I breathe. But I wanted to come to Purchase because I would not be limited to just dance.” April Johnson Major: Dance Extracurricular: Resident Assistant, Student Senator
Humanity
Campus life. Our campus is a unique mix of urban architecture, quiet woods, worldclass cultural venues, learning spaces, and playing fields. It hums with constant activity. Students join clubs and plan events that match their many interests. About two-thirds of our students live on campus, along with many faculty members and staff. It is a place where people like being with one another—staying fit, enjoying a festival, volunteering for a cause, and relaxing in the café. When it’s time to get away, the cities of White Plains and Port Chester—just minutes from campus—provide a range of eateries, shops, multiplexes, and more.
Our website is a great place to start investigating Purchase. Even better, come for a visit. We’d like to meet you and have you get to know our students and professors. Our Admissions Office will make sure that your visit is informative and fun.
An invaluable experience. Purchase graduates leave with more than a well-respected and valuable degree, they produce a significant scholarly work— their Senior Project. It is excellent preparation for the next step—pursuing an advanced degree or entering the work world. The Senior Project—as well as other opportunities you will have for internships, research, and networking—will strengthen your communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. And, like the entire Purchase experience, it will leave you with an enormous sense of personal accomplishment.
