Taiwan

Sunshine Foundation was established in 1981 to provide comprehensive services to burn survivors and people with facial disfigurement. In 1991, we set up Taiwan’s first community-based rehabilitation center entirely dedicated to burns. We rely on a multi-disciplinary team composed of social workers, occupational and physical therapists, psychological counselors, vocational counselors and social educators to provide services in a community-based setting. By sharing with international colleagues our burn rehabilitation and prevention expertise, we aim to give our partners the tools and knowledge to help burn survivors in their country have access to quality rehabilitation care. Training maximizes impact: One burn professional trained can then apply new skills to improve the physical and psychosocial outcome of many burn survivors. Through better care, complications from burns are reduced, burn survivors have a better chance of living a full, active, and independent life.
