Whats On

New cycle of jazz concerts in Torrevieja The popular cycle of jazz concerts “Torrevieja Suena a Jazz” has been programmed for a second time at the International Auditorium, with the first of four performances taking place next Friday, 18 October at 9 pm. The opening concert will be given by the Till Brönner Duo and the Just Friends Quintet, who will play a live jam session. Till Brönner is a German jazz musician, trumpeter, singer, composer, producer and photographer who has become somewhat of a legend on the international jazz scene. Brönner will form a duo for the Torrevieja concert with fellow German jazz doublebassist Dieter Ilg. The Just Friends Quintet is formed by saxophonist Rafa González; Pablo Mercader on guitar; Luis Suria playing the piano; Jordi Vila on double bass and drummer Mikael Rösten.

The quintet will play a repertoire of swing and hard bop classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s with their own original arrangements. The second of the four concerts will take place next Saturday, 19 October. Information about all the concerts can be found on the Auditorium’s website: https://auditoriotorrevieja.com/eventos/.

Look to the stars If you fancy a closer look at the stars, don’t miss out on the star and moon-gazing astronomy event taking place tomorrow night (Saturday) in La Mata. The popular Torrevieja-based weather group, Proyecto Mastral, has organised the night-sky watch together with the Astroingeo Association to celebrate International Moon

Observation Day. Participants are asked to gather at the Plaza del Embarcadero in La Mata at 8pm on Saturday where telescopes will be set up. During the evening, a collection will also take place and donations will be given to the Cruz Roja to help victims of the DANA floods affected in the Vega Baja.
