The Club Presidents of Rotary year 2024-25

Dear Club Presidents,

I congratulate you on your installation to the office of club Presidents of Rotary Clubs in District 3141.

Rotary needs your leadership now more than ever if we are to make every club and district an irresistible experience. By following Rotary’s Action Plan and making sure all members feel a sense of belonging in your club, you have a special opportunity to inspire members to new heights of service.

Our ability to create lasting change begins with our family of Rotary. Together, it is within our power to bring healing in a divided world. Join me in making Rotary a source of strength for those who need it most, within and beyond our membership.

Let this be the year we harness The Magic of Rotary, and let Rotary be known as an organization that takes care of its members as well as the people we serve.

It is within your power to help make your club a beacon of goodwill and fellowship in your community.

I look forward to working beside you as we change the world with The Magic of Rotary.

Warm regards,

Ignite the Magic of Rotary: Building Vibrant Clubs, Vibrant Communities!

Dear Vibrant President and Club Members,

As your District Governor, I'm thrilled to embark on this Rotary year together, fueled by the inspiring theme - The Magic of Rotary. This theme isn't just a slogan; it's a call to action to ignite the magic within each of us and create a lasting impact on our communities.

My vision for this year is to build on this magic and make our clubs truly Vibrant. Vibrant clubs are those where members are engaged, enthusiastic, and empowered to make a difference.

Rotary District 3141 boasts a rich tapestry of service projects - from Vibrant Anganwadis, nurturing young minds to Breast Cancer Detection empowering women. We champion CSR initiatives, sustainable tribal welfare, and transform lives through ‘disability to ability’ programs. We care for the elderly with compassion, and bring hope with pediatric heart surgeries and eye surgeries. Let's not forget the importance of mental well-being – mental health initiatives are crucial. Neonatal projects, water projects, railway projects and the fight against anemia and thalassemia - each project holds the potential to transform lives. Samavesh, our national integration project in Kashmir, reminds us of our duty to integrate Kashmiri people

The magic lies in YOU! Your participation and dedication breathe life into these projects. I urge you to embrace these opportunities - attend club meetings, participate in service projects, and share your ideas. Together, we can weave a vibrant tapestry of service that leaves a lasting impact. Let's ignite the magic, build vibrant clubs, and create vibrant communities!

With Rotarian Spirit, Chetan Desai

District Governor, Rotary International District 3141

Message from AG Sree Nandy

Let me begin by congratulating RC Mumbai Juhu on its milestone 25th year. Among many other accomplishments, the club has done yeoman's work in igniting the spark of service among generations of Interactors. It has been at the forefront of youth leadership development in the District, hosting impactful programs like Udaan and Sanskar year after year. In fact, I have been a judge at the dance competition at Udaan and witnessed the unmatched enthusiasm and participation by schools and students. This club infuses the wisdom of senior Rotarians with the energy of the younger ones a perfect recipe for success in the Vibrant year.

President Subhashish’s keen interest in carrying forward his club's legacy projects while adding new ones from district focus areas shows the beautiful and balanced planning he and his board have done. The unbridled support the President enjoys from his fellow club members and his spouse Shubhra has set the stage for an excellent and vibrant year ahead.

As President Subhashish and his board stand poised to take office, he stands in solidarity with 35,000 leaders of Rotary clubs in 200 countries, promising to create lasting change. Rotary Presidentship is not a task to be achieved; it is the best leadership learning exercise there is. It is a year that presents you with unlimited opportunities to be a changemaker and helps you grow to be a better version of yourself, both as a professional and as a person.

Dear Editor Sumana Menon, the incredible power of the written word makes your Club Bulletin a powerful tool to create an impression amongst all stakeholders, be they members, sponsors, or partners It builds up the credibility for the club and the Rotary brand while furthering collaborations, member engagement, and fundraising efforts. So, it is not only about the lives you change but also about the stories you tell. And this is where the Vibrant Breezy News is all set to make a difference.

To all the members at RCM Juhu: Carpe Diem, seize the day, and always remember that you have a friend in your AG.

Rtn Sree Nandy

Assistant Governor 24-25 Managing Editor, GML, 24-25

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT

We Firmly believe- One way to make positive change is to embrace the principles of DIVERSITY, EQUITY, and INCLUSION to usher in the vision of Rotary. “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting changes- across the globe, in our communities and ourselves.”

Namaste! Congratulations to last year’s Incredible, team on successful completion of Rotary year 2023-24.The Rotary International Campaign for the year is ;”The Magic of Rotary”.

The theme for this year, so relevant for our Club as well!

Beginning the new Rotary year by thanking all fellow Rotarians of my club, for bestowing their belief in me, to lead the club as the 25th President of our Club, for Rotary year 2024-25. I am proud to be a Rotarian! I am most honoured and humbled for this; and with the help and support of my Board members and fellow Club members, I will do my best to meet the challenge..

For more than 24 years, Mumbai Juhu Club’s guiding principles have been the foundation upon which our values and tradition stand. The Four-Way Test, Object of Rotary and the Avenues of Service express our commitment to service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. Our club has been built on a strong leadership foundation, it has become an embodiment of Service, Trust and Bonding. We are fortunate to have members, who are fully committed to the Rotary ideal of ‘Service Above Self’. Our Flagship Projects continue to make innovations every year, this year too we make unique headway in ‘Sanskar’, ‘Udaan’,’Ashish’s Umang’ and other projects.

:

The dedicated and passionate team of Directors and Members are my pillars of strength. We will endeavour to explore new avenues of opportunities in serving our communities,. sometimes with help of District and the Focus areas. In the Vibrant year RC Mumbai Juhu wishes to strengthen the Club’s Flagship Projects, especially focus on Youth ,by serving Interact and Rotaract . We shall expand, innovate and focus on ‘Quality and Impact’ rather than ‘Quantity’(numbers).

Friendship, bonding between Members & fellowship will be the top most priority to strengthen the club, where each member has the sense of involvement and togetherness. Growth For Rotary, whether in District, Country or International can be based primarily by inducting ‘New Members’ .Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a top priority for Rotary International for Membership and same for RC Mumbai Juhu..We would be targeting high 50 % of NET Growth for the year 2024-25.

‘Ashish’sUmang’-this project and the spirit behind it will be the drive and motivation for us as we move forward with all of our actions and activities. Let us keep this in mind that the Wand of Magic is in our hands, each one of us has the potential to rise to the occasion to innovate project ideas, fellowship ideas, new methods, new process and new horizons for this Club. I believe we can have very simple goals for this year: Increase our Impact, Expand our Reach, Enhance Participation and Engagement and Increase our Ability to Adapt. These goals align with our emphasis being on Membership Matters, Get Involved, Be Impactful, and Have Fun. This will be an exciting and busy year as we celebrate our Silver Jubilee. Working together, we can accomplish great things and make a difference in our community and the world.

Rotary Information capsule

Date : 23 rd February 1905

Venue : 7 th Floor, Unity Building, 127 Dearborn Street, Chicago

Members : Only four founder members, namely Paul Harris, Silvester Schiele, Gustavus Loehr and Hiram Shorey

Each one introduced himself, telling the others about his vocation, background and other varied interests. Paul Harris shared with them his sense of emptiness at having no true friends in the city and uncertainty of knowing whom to trust in his personal and commercial dealings. They all felt a need to have a club with a motive of ‘Business Reciprocity with Friendship.’

It was proposed to invite one member from each profession, whose integrity could be vouched by existing member. Silvester was chosen to lead the club as Paul decided to strengthen the club from behind the scene.

In the third meeting on 23 rd March 1905, they had 15 members who decided on giving the club an identity. Lots of suggestions came towards naming the club, which were: Chicago Circle, Chicago Fellowship, Windy City Roundup, The Lake Club, FFF (Food-Fun-Fellowship) Club, Trade and Talk Club, Friends in Business Club and more. The roundtable earned several votes but not a majority. Paul Harris then quietly made a suggestion. Since we have agreed to rotate meeting between members how about calling it a Rotating club? Since it sounded clumsy Paul himself suggested again, “Why not call it a Rotary Club?” The suggestion was unanimously accepted. And so the Rotary club name came into existence…

‘DREAMLINER 787’ by Rtn Amarjit Singh Sabherwal

Our Rotarian Amarjit was inv talk on AVIATION and Rtn Am enlighten the students . The talk was well presented to the students in 2 batches and almost 100 students were spell bound to hear this latest technology The talk gave valuable insights into the modernisation of the airline industry and who better could spell it out than our own club aviation industry veteran Rtn Amarjit who has served AIR INDIA in various department for more than 35 years …

It was a good intercative session and the students were enthralled to hear about the latest techniques and had a lot of questions to ask too Amarjit and yours truly attended this session and we met the principal and coordinator after the session and appraised them about the upcoming RCMJ programmes It would be a wonderful idea to have a similar session at our club….

Our Youngest Charter Member Dr.Shubhangi Dhage

It was a great initiative by our Charter President Ralph Menon who introduced and brought together a set of 59 individuals and formed a family called Rotary Club of Mumbai Juhu (RCMJ).

I was entrusted the responsibility of leading this young and vibrant club in its third year – 2002-03. I will fail in my duty if I do not mention the excellent support provided by the then Club Secretary, Amarjit. Aided by the close proximity of our work areas, we used to meet every day to discuss various aspects of the club and decide action plan.

From 2003-04, I have been the Director – Medical Services almost uninterrupted. We carried out various medical camps at my clinic in Kalina and other community locations. NID - Polio drops to children at VN Desai Municipal Hospital used to be like a club picnic with Dr Sunil getting samosas for the volunteers as well as our members. With the help of Interactors, we had awareness drives in slums on NID days.

Nursing training at Mahila Vikas Kendra was one of the highlights of my and our contribution to Women Empowerment.

While utilizing funds from Dist Grant, we created a great infrastructure for the Mahila Vikas Kendra by donating Utensils, Fans, Beauty Parlor equipment, Sewing machines etc so as to enable women associated with the centre to generate income for their betterment. Special tanks to – Daman, Amarjit, Sumana and Shobha in helping in this project.

With the support from our members Sreedevi, Patricia and Joyoti, we have distributed fruits & sweets to children at our Balwadi in Juhu and were rewarded with happy faces. Over the years, I have had a very cooperative association with all the RCMJ family members and a fulfilling experience. All this finally translated to me being called “Tai” by one and all.

Numerology – An Insight

Do u know that you are a culmination of numbers ? Your Personality / Behaviour / Emotions and the list goes on is Governed by Numbers !!!!

Let me give u an insight …..

We are all born at a certain date , hour, and minute into the earths energy field . Every aspect of our life

Numerology is simply defined as the Science of Numbers . is based on numbers , right from our birth till our passing on. Everything is numbered for e.g our house number , car number , bank account number etc. Even our name is converted into number as each alphabet has a number value attached to it.

Core Number ( Birth number / Physic Number / Birth Date Number )

This number is the day you are born i.e the date but not the month and year..This number has a powerful influence on your life up to the age of 35 to 45 years. The influence of this number is always there but after this period , the influence of the destiny / life path number becomes a bit more powerful. This number represents your inner potential and inherent qualities . It also provides an indication of the purpose you have come to fulfil in the present incarnation

To calculate the Birthday Number we reduce the day of your birthday to a single digit number. If you were born on a single digit day that will be the Birth number and if it a double digit number then the numbers are added to a single digit Birthday number. Eg – Born on 25th on any month your Birth Number is 2+5 = 7 and so on

Life Path Number / Destiny Number

The life Path Number is the sum of your Birth date . The life path number describes the nature of this journed through life

The life path number is established from the date of birth. First add the Month , day and year together to arrive a total Next reduce the four digit number to a single digit Eg – if a person is born on October 23, 1972 ( 10 -23 -1972 ) , add the month 10 to the day 23 plus the year 1972 arriving at a total of 2005 ..Then add the digits in 2005 arriving at a life path number of 7

Does above sound interesting ? Calculate your individual Birth number and Life Path Number as I take you through your Numerology Insights in the months to come !!! No patience to wait ?
