he seventies were all over the SS15 catwalks. In the seventies, Chloe under Karl Lagerfeld defined the laidback attitude of the decade. Polaroid introduced polarised and gradient lenses to sunglasses. Whilst Gucci’s Italian craftsmanship and quality catapulted globally. And as the runways showed, you can’t do seventies styling without sunglasses. It’s Tom Ford’s most celebrated era, you can see it through his sunglasses. Look to Taylor Morris for ‘70s’ love affair with expression and clashing prints. And don’t forget Jackie Onassis in her oversized sunglasses.

MIU MIU 53QS

Miu Miu’s retro frame is unique. It presents another way to wear an oversized frame. And they really got it right. Gold metal lines run around soft square lenses. But at 53QS’s brow is pale green. The effect this creates is so cool. Miu Miu’s new green tortoiseshell also continues through the temple tips.

SAINT LAURENT CLASSIC 11

Saint Laurent Classic 11 transcends trends. With a pilot silhouette, Classic 11 nods to retro styles. Rose gold steel forms a double-bridge and temples. It also runs around lenses. Temple tips follow the rose gold colouring. Saint Laurent’s emblem is uniquely engraved at the top of the temples. Hidden branding provides discreet luxury. Classic 11 stands out even more with grey-bronze mirrored lenses.

Tom Ford is go-to when shopping for seventies sunglasses after being constantly inspired by the decade. Ivanna is a key piece. Tubular lines sweep over the large lenses and cross in the centre creating a butterfly shape. Lenses cut away and temples drop, bring a seventies feel to Ivanna. Ivanna injects seventies glamour to the modern wardrobe.

Vintage obsessed Taylor Morris’ Vivien is straight out of the era. But the first time around you wouldn’t have had the dazzle of mirrored lenses too. That and the beautiful pink tortoiseshell make Vivien a thrilling way to play with seventies style. Perfectly sculpted its oval lenses are a cinch to wear.

Ray-Ban takes the retro round to another level in the uber cool 4222. Old school cool is souped up with vivid iridescent soft rubber, super slick multi-layered mirror lenses and sleek metal. Ray-Ban 4222 is oversized so the tricky round becomes universally flattering. Ray-Ban’s unmistakable logo is etched over temples and a single lens.

rom Saint Laurent’s psych rock rising to Prada’s clunky normcore, the influence of the seventies echoed up and down the SS15 runways. Sunglasses are non negotiable and steer your look in the right direction. The aviator is king, the Clubmaster an unexpected twist and mirrors and matte put on a modern spin whilst attention to detail makes all the difference. Just add suede, denim, florals, leather, metallics and a whole lot of attitude.

Ray-Ban updates the classic Round Metal for 2015 with a slick of vivid mirror. John Lennon wore them throughout the seventies. Look no further than him for styling them. Whether with army surplus, tailoring, black leather or plain white tee and jeans Ray-Ban’s Flash mirror lenses add serious edge to the icon for 2015.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN 0009S

The distinctive and dangerous razor blade is a strong signature for McQ. Influenced by the late great Alexander McQueen’s affinity with street culture McQ’s powerful punk decor is iconized further at the temples of a classic aviator. Angled temple tips add yet more edge and are printed with the McQ logo. A matte finish gives an ultra contemporary look.

CARRERA NEW CHAMPION

The iconic Carrera champion was first launched in 1976. In 2015 it comes stripped back for a new generation. It’s the perfect contemporary twist keeping your seventies inspired look well away from dress up.

POLAROID PLD6012S
