To the People of Lycoming County:
As your District Attorney, I have pledged to protect and defend all the citizens of Lycoming County, to protect our children, the elderly, those that need my help, and those that perhaps cannot defend themselves. I also promised to work to eradicate the drug dealers plaguing our towns and city, to prosecute aggressively those individuals who break our laws, and to improve the quality of our lives. I have been a prosecutor most of my adult life, putting the bad guys away and protecting the people of my various jurisdictions. In the past year I have worked diligently to fulfill those promises. However, neither I nor other members of law enforcement can accomplish these goals alone. Criminals do everything in their power to escape the consequences of their actions: they run; they hide; they lie; they take advantage of others. Thus, we in law enforcement need your assistance if we are to win this battle against crime.
These criminals think nothing of causing harm to law-abiding people in order to profit from their illegal activities. In order to make it easier and more efficient for you to assist us in apprehending these individuals, the District Attorney’s Office and Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office are
collaborating with all municipal police officers within Lycoming County as well as with the U.S. Marshalls Service to develop the third publication featuring Lycoming County’s “Most Wanted.” These individuals represent parole violators, child molesters, burglars, rapists, and murderers, among others.
The public’s response to previous publications of Lycoming County’s “Most Wanted” was tremendous. As a result of your efforts, over 100 fugitives were located, apprehended, and brought to justice. We are asking for your help again. Please review this fugitive listing and if you have tips or information about the whereabouts of any of these individuals, please contact the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office at 272-2304227 or you may also provide a tip by email using the Anonymous Tip Sheet found on the Sheriff’s webpage of Lyco.org. You may also contact your local police department with information.
Thank you again for joining in the fight against fugitives in Lycoming County. Working together we can maintain the safety and quality of life in Lycoming County we have come to expect and deserve.
Sincerely.
Thomas A. Marino District Attorney Lycoming County

Sun-Gazette reporter’s career dedicated to stories, service of first responders
From Staff Reports
“You do a great job. There is no one better.”
“Best reporter bar none.”
“Excellent at what you do.”
“You are the best reporter in the state ... hands down.”
“One of the best reporters I have ever worked with.”
“You’re a dedicated newspaper man.”
“You are an absolute legend ... and you earned that status fair and square.”
“I’ve worked with a lot of media ... and you are by far the best to the first responder community.”
“Keep up the great reporting.”
“Great work from one of the best reporters I have ever worked with. Thank you for all you do.”
“The job you do is without a doubt fantastic. You’re the best.”
“There is no one like you. Thank you for all you’ve done to bring the news and to improve journalism in our region.”
Firefighters, first responders and their families recently shared their impressions of the career of Philip A. Holmes, the Sun-Gazette’s long-serving police, fire and emergency reporter, on social media when the reporter shared a photograph of himself on the scene of a 1990 fire — when he had already been, in his words “on the job” for nearly a decade.
When honored in the past for his achievements, Holmes has always been quick to deflect the attention to the first responders, such as when he received the Pickelner Brotherhood Citation Award in May of 2017.
Praising their public service, Holmes said first responders are the ones who “make a difference.”
“Phil’s dedication and tenacity, as impressive as they are, are only half of the story of his unparalleled success as a police and fire reporter,” Mike Maneval, managing editor of the Sun-Gazette said. “His respect for and recognition of our communties’ firefighters, police and first responders has always grounded his tireless work in a sense of the seriousness and importance of what are some of the toughest assignments to cover.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil for almost 10 years and am grateful for his mentorship as well as his friendship,” said Katelyn Hibbard, associate editor. “His caring and dedication go well beyond his job title. The Sun-Gazette is blessed to have had him on staff for several decades — and hopefully many more years to come.”
Sun-Gazette police reporter Philip A. Holmes, who never goes anywhere without his police scanner, was one of three recipients of the 2017 Pickelner Brotherhood Citation Award during the Lycoming county Brotherhood Alliance’ 60th Annual Brotherhood Banquet at the Genetti Hotel Wednesday in 2017.
