2024-25 Annual Report

Page 1

Letter From Head of School

We are pleased to report strong, mission-aligned financial results for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. Enrollment remained steady at 1,082 students on opening day, and net tuition revenue increased over the prior year. Throughout 2024–25, The Summit prioritized excellence across our five pillars, and enhancements to the daily student experience, stewarding resources carefully while advancing our strategic vision.

We implemented strategic initiatives and directed investments to improve and protect access and affordability, sustain program quality and strengthen campus safety and reliability. Within a balanced operating plan, our commitments to Summit’s families and students, faculty and staff, and 135-year-old campus were on display.

• First year participation in the State of Ohio EdChoice Scholarship Program.

• Continued investment in our commitment to a competitive compensation scale for faculty.

• Lower School implementation of Project Learn, a new English Language Arts curriculum that delivers explicit, systematic instruction across the five pillars of literacy.

• Middle School expanded curriculum with emphasis on experiential learning to include new elective offerings in movie making, theater, photography, debate, and service learning.

• Upper School introduced an innovative aviation program with state-of-the art flight simulators preparing students for pilot certification.

• Montessori ratios reduced and additional student support provided to truly “follow the child,” delivering timely, individualized lessons

that accelerate independence, language, and social-emotional growth within a calmer, safer classroom.

• Campus-wide network refresh (new switches and access points) for faster, more reliable connectivity in every instructional space.

• Teacher and student device upgrades that modernized classroom tools and prepared us for the 1:1 expansion in Middle and Upper School.

• Knights Hall and Lower School Library refreshes with flexible furnishings that support literacy, engagement, and collaborative inquiry.

• New classroom flooring, collaborative classroom furniture (Grades 1–12) first phase installed over the summer ready to promote active learning and group problem-solving for the 2025-26 school year.

• Continued investment in deferred maintenance reserves and outsourcing of maintenance staff to provide a robust preventative maintenance plan and improved operations.

Our endowment underwrites tuition assistance, plant maintenance, signature programs, distinctive programming, leadership and character formation, and faculty professional development. The market value of the endowment reached an alltime high valuation of $60.382M on June 30, 2025, and the annual draw applied to operations was $2.494M. We are grateful to our Foundation Trustees for their wise stewardship.

Total gifts received in 2024–25 were $2.591M, including a record

breaking $1.528M to the Summit Fund and $1.063M in Capital & Endowment contributions. Every gift helps bridge the gap between tuition and the full cost to educate each child, making a Summit education more enriching and accessible for all. We are pleased to close the 2024–25 school year with strong student outcomes, state and national recognition, steady enrollment, record Summit Fund results, and clear momentum positioning us for a purposeful leap forward in 2025–26.

Thank you to all who invested in The Summit so our students, faculty, and staff can pursue their passions. As a school serving children from 18 months to 18 years, our needs are diverse and ongoing. We ask for your continued partnership as we educate leaders of character who will improve the world they inherit. Together, we honor the Hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and boldly move the school forward with our strategic and master planning initiatives.

Grow in Grace and Wisdom,

The Summit prioritized excellence across our five pillars, and enhancements to the daily student experience, stewarding resources carefully while advancing our strategic vision.

The Summit's Mission:

To challenge every student, faculty and staff member  to share fully the gifts that have been given to them by God;  To grow in grace and wisdom;  To develop spiritually, academically, physically, socially and artistically and; To become leaders of character who value and improve the world they inherit.

Letter From Board of Trustees Chair

I hope that your family’s time in The Summit’s 135th year is going well, and that you are having another year of enriching Summit experiences. Recent events in the world and in our lives have given me and my family an even greater appreciation for the uniqueness, breadth and quality of The Summit experience and community. It is something we cherish richly, and we are deeply grateful to you for being a part of it!

While we are already into our “new” year, this report concerns last school year’s activities. I am pleased and grateful to report that last year was another great success for your Summit Country Day School. Enrollment was strong, the community was vibrant, finances were stable, and campus improvements just keep coming! We were yet again rated the Number One Catholic High School in Ohio, which is a tribute to the excellence so often found around each of our Five Pillars: spiritual, academic, physical, social, and artistic.

That only happens with enormous care and effort from hundreds of faculty and staff, with very diverse talents and roles. This group is led with great effectiveness and care by our Head of School, Kelley Schiess, who is committed to bringing the Hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur ever-more to life at The Summit. Those Hallmarks also inspire hundreds of Summit volunteers, who serve through the Summit Parents Association, The Boosters, The Village, alumni groups, athletics, scouts and other clubs, and Board and Committee participation. I thank all these volunteers for their time, skill and commitment.

None of this great work would have been possible without your

demonstration of commitment through your financial contributions. The tuition we charge does not even cover the basic cost of educating our children -- never mind growing the school’s offerings and securing its future through changing circumstances. This is why your consistent support of our mission and strategy is so very crucial!

Speaking of strategy, you have heard much about our planning process over the past two+ years, which includes exciting initiatives across all Five Pillars. This year you will hear more about executing that plan -- we are committed to ensuring that The Summit experience and value proposition continue to grow in uniqueness, authenticity and relevance to our students, families and communities for generations to come. I am grateful to the many people who bring such grace and wisdom to this work.

This is my last message as Chair of The Summit’s Board of Trustees. With my three-year term complete, The Summit is fortunate to welcome Carolyn Karageorges as our new Chair. We are in great hands – Carolyn’s breadth of skills and dedication to The Summit have been demonstrated well over her many years of leadership.

Thank you again for being a part of our Summit community, and for so generously demonstrating your care and continuing commitment to its future. Happy 135th !

The Summit Fund is the most valuable source of unrestricted support for the school’s annual operating budget. The annual fund gives the school the flexibility to ensure and enhance the Summit experience for every student, faculty, staff, and community member.

Through the generosity and support from parents, alumni, and friends, The Summit has remained rooted in its mission to educate leaders of character who will value and improve the world they inherit. The Summit Fund supports academic programs, technology, financial assistance, and professional development utilized by our students and faculty.

A gift to The Summit Fund is the first and most important gift we ask of every member of our community. Thank you for your generous support.

Current Parent Donors

Current Parent Donors

The commitment of our current parent community is a cornerstone of The Summit’s continued excellence. Their generosity reflects a shared belief in our mission and a deep investment in their children’s education and growth. Through their support, parents help enhance academic programs, faculty development, and student experiences ensuring The Summit remains a place where every child can thrive.

Parent Participation Challenge Update:

The Summit proudly launched its first Annual Parent Participation Challenge this October, rallying the parent community in a collective effort to support The Summit Fund. Led by the Parent Advancement Network (PAN) and chaired by Morgan Mulvihill Roberts P'26, P'31, P'31, the challenge inspired over 300 parents to give, raising $374,000 and achieving 44% parent participation by month’s end. This strong momentum carried through the fiscal year, closing at 60% parent participation, meeting the national average for independent schools. The success of this inaugural challenge reflects the deep commitment and generosity of Summit families who continue to invest in our mission and our students.

“The

Parent Participation Challenge was a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together. Every gift regardless of size made an impact, and I’m so proud to see our families step up in support of our school.”

The Alumni Board serves as a cornerstone for fostering strong connections between alumni, current students, faculty, and staff. This dedicated group of advisors is deeply invested in the school's success, continually inspiring others to make a tangible impact.

This year, the Board's efforts have been particularly innovative. We kicked off the fiscal year with our inaugural Alumni Athletic Games, bringing over 50 alumni back to campus to relive their athletic primes alongside current coaches and players. Demonstrating a commitment to supporting alumni ventures, the Board also initiated a successful collaboration with Northside Distilling Co., an alumniowned business. This partnership provided a unique platform to engage our community, leading to well-attended events like the Thanksgiving Happy Hour and our Spring Happy Hour, which drew over 50 years of Summit alumni (19712021).

Beyond engaging alumni, the Board is deeply committed to nurturing our current students, recognizing them as future alums. Building early connections is important. This year, the Board facilitated a valuable financial panel for seniors with Brian Brockhoff '82, offering crucial financial insights. Furthermore, the Board collaborated with Upper School students on One Day, All Knights Giving Day, creating the "Silver Knights Uknight Challenge," a dedicated Upper School fundraiser that significantly contributed to the overall Giving Day success. These yearlong efforts enhance the strong and valuable connection with alumni, current students, faculty and staff that extends far beyond The Summit.

“My involvement with the Alumni Board has been so rewarding in seeing the many ways that our alumni, current students, faculty, staff and the broader Summit community engage in so many ways to leverage our shared community and commitment to excellence as an institution. Whether you’re already involved with The Summit or interested in dipping your toe back into this special community, I strongly encourage you to check out the dates below or contact anyone on the Board to find ways to reengage and participate.”

– Chip Workman '96

W hy I Give

What inspires you to give back to The Summit?

I've said many times that I utilize the lessons and skills gained in my years as a Summit lifer more than those from any other point of my education. Now, as parents of a Summit student and an alumna, we're watching our girls benefit from those same tools and gifts. Giving back helps ensure that the institution will continue to be able to provide that same experience for others and to create Leaders of Character to benefit our community and world for decades to come.

What would you say to others who are considering making a gift to the school? We would encourage anyone making a gift to do so not just to support their own student, but to continue to allow the school to maintain the excellent faculty and staff, facilities and culture that make The Summit the very special place it is.

We're coming up on our 135th Anniversary, how can giving back have an impact on our school?

Our 135th Anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the rich traditions and history of this institution. But perhaps more importantly, it's an opportunity to contemplate where we're headed over the next 135 years and what will be required to balance those traditions with an institution that can shape future students to lead in a world of ever-increasing change.

What is your favorite Summit tradition - current or past - that speaks to you the most and why?

There are so many to choose from, but for our family specifically, the tradition of attending Christmas Eve mass grabs the top spot. The chapel is such a special place and it's a wonderful way to celebrate with the Summit community at such a special time of year. Outside our family, seeing that graduation picture each and every year on the cover of The Summit magazine is always a treat.

Chip '96 and Abby Workman

"I've said many times that I utilize the lessons and skills gained in my years as a Summit lifer more than those from any other point of my education."
– Chip Workman '96

Grandparent Donors

The support and generosity of our grandparent community made a lasting impact at The Summit. Their contributions reflect a profound dedication to their grandchildren’s education and a belief in the school’s mission. Through their gifts, grandparents help enrich academic programs, strengthen our community, and ensure a bright future for all Summit students. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering support.

“We give back to the Summit because of our family’s long history with the school and how it has shaped our whole family into the people we are today. We met at the Summit in seventh grade and have been committed to fostering a strong relationship with The Summit ever since, with our three daughters who are Summit Lifers. Kathryn was blessed with the opportunity to teach in the Summit’s Montessori program several years ago, and our daughter, Mary Frances is currently teaching first grade. We are especially grateful to give back to the Summit and continue to support future leaders and allow students the opportunity to blossom into their God given talents.”

– Kathryn (Stahl) '84 and Keith Harsh '84, P '14, P '15, P '18

Faculty and Staff Donors

Thank you to our incredible and generous Faculty and Staff community. Each member goes beyond the classroom - demonstrating their belief in our shared purpose and directly investing in the success of our students and programs. Their commitment inspires others and strengthens the foundation of excellence that defines The Summit experience.

A huge thank you to our Faculty/Staff Summit Fund Champions – who encourage their colleagues to give back to The Summit. Linda Moeggenberg, Montessori, Martha Rich, Lower School, Jen Szakal, Middle School and Jerry Hilton '91, Upper School

“Our community has a unique ability to celebrate the individuality and dignity of each member while simultaneously creating a sense of connection and support. I give back to The Summit because I know the exceptional heights our community members are capable of reaching when given the resources to do so. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur encourage us to improve the world we inherit, and, as a graduate of Summit and a beneficiary of the wonderful opportunities Summit has to offer, I feel a lifelong responsibility to give back to this community so that my children and students have even better opportunities to be successful in school and beyond.”

– Marina (Jemail) Rolfes '12

Sustainer Trustee Donors

Members of the Sustainer Trustees serve as a vibrant community of advice and guidance for our Summit mission.

Having the support of former Trustees is an important message to the community, that the love and passion for the school never ends.

Give to The Summit through the OAIS SGO

The Summit Country Day School as a member school of the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS) has partnered with its consortium of schools as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Donors who give to specific schools through the OAIS SGO portal qualify for this new tax credit. This is a unique opportunity for individual State of Ohio taxpayers to make a gift to The Summit AND reduce their Ohio tax liability dollar for dollar. In 2021, the Ohio Assembly established Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) which has resulted in a non-refundable tax credit of up to $750 for single filing and $1,500 married couple filing jointly against a taxpayer’s total Ohio tax liability. Giving to The Summit via the Ohio SGO is an additional opportunity for Ohioans to make a difference for students in need at The Summit and it will not impact your finances.

We would like to recognize donors who donated to the OAIS SGO in the 2024-25 fiscal year. Thank you for amplifying your impact on The Summit.

Letter from the Foundation

Rick Grzymajlo, President, P '23

Thank you for your generous gifts to The Summit Country Day School Foundation. The dedicated commitment of donors like you makes a difference on campus every day. Your enduring support helps ensure the school’s long-term excellence and we are honored to share a summary of that impact for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Purpose

The Foundation was created in 1994 and is the fiduciary of endowed assets originally given by donors. Our mission is to support the school by fostering and promoting its welfare and assisting in carrying out its educational vocation.

The purpose of the Foundation is to build capital for future use while supporting the school’s current needs. Our focus is delivering long-term performance through identifying and investing in diversified assets while thinking in decades, not fiscal years. While investment results are monitored on a routine basis, adherence to a sound investment policy, which balances short-term needs with the growth of real value, is crucial to success. The Foundation’s infinite time horizon is a competitive advantage. Our investment objective is to achieve an annualized return through appreciation and income, greater than the rate of inflation plus any spending and administrative expenses, thus protecting the purchasing power of assets and sustaining our commitment to the school.

School Support

As of June 30, 2025, the value of the Foundation’s assets was $60.5 million (an all-time high), and the portfolio returned 13.0% for the trailing 1-year.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, more than half of the $2.49 million in support given to the school went to scholarships. The remaining amount went to provide a host of aid ranging from tuition assistance, faculty and staff development, academic programs, and athletics. For historical perspective, from 2010-2025, cumulative distributions from the Foundation to the School totaled more than $24.5 million!

Investment Philosophy

Despite the perhaps unique nature of current headwinds and their seemingly hourly changes in strength and direction, equity and fixed income volatility have, thus far, been of levels that we have seen before and will no doubt see again. A long-term perspective is especially valuable.

It is prudent to be concerned about tariff-driven price increases and their potential broader impact. The risks are real and potentially significant. But it is also judicious to acknowledge the underlying long-term strength of the U.S. economy and embracing Warren Buffett’s often cited belief in never betting against it. The Foundation continues to espouse a portfolio for long-term success but short-term turmoil; always thinking perpetuity and avoiding emotionally driven decisions.

Looking Ahead

Your philanthropy allows students to achieve their dreams. Generating sustainable, longterm performance is the Foundation’s overriding objective, so that we can continue to grow your donations in support of the school. As such, we are ever thankful for your trust and the confidence of the school, its board, and the broader Summit community.

Endowment: A gift for generations honoring Edward C. Tyrrell, Head of School (1974-2003)

All endowments have a story to tell about the donors who created them, and those stories are an enduring part of The Summit’s history because of the permanence of an endowment. The Summit Endowment in honor of Edward C. Tyrrell was created from invested gifts that provide stable, sustained revenue to support their intended purpose. These gifts are made possible through the generous investments of alumni, parents and friends to demonstrate their support and passion for The Summit. Endowed funds are established to provide ongoing permanent support for designated funding recipients by use of interest earned on endowments, rather than at the expense of the funds themselves. The Summit Country Day School Foundation is the fiduciary of endowed funds, and its mission is to prudently manage those funds to support The Summit in perpetuity. These funds may be created for various purposes, including faculty support, student scholarships, curriculum innovation and building and grounds enhancement. Donors are listed under an endowment when gifts are made during the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Honoring Legacy, Inspiring Futures

The Katie Conway Scholarship

This year, The Summit Country Day School proudly introduces the Katie Conway Scholarship, a newly endowed fund that will open doors for young learners to experience the transformative power of a Montessori education. Established by the Conway family, the scholarship honors Katie Conway, a Summit alumna whose deep connection to the Montessori program and passion for early childhood education inspired a legacy of opportunity and inclusion.

A Family’s Vision Rooted in Gratitude

The idea for the scholarship began years ago, when Bob and Cindy Conway considered ways to give back to the Summit community that had shaped their daughter’s early years. Initially, the scholarship was a placeholder within the school’s capital campaign, but when the family saw it gaining momentum, they committed to fully funding it—ensuring it would be self-sustaining and impactful for generations to come.

“We wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a name,” Bob Conway shared. “It needed to be something that truly supported students in Katie’s name, something that would live on and make a difference.”

Katie’s Montessori Journey

Katie Conway’s love for Summit’s Montessori program runs deep. From fond memories of feeding giraffes on field trips to teaching summer camps in her former second-grade classroom, Katie’s experiences have come full circle. “I want someone else who can’t go to Summit on their own to be able to,” she said. “I had such a good experience, and I want others to have that chance too.”

Her favorite age group to work with—three to six-year-olds— reflects her desire to support students at the very beginning

of their educational journey. “That’s when character traits like kindness and respect really start to take root,” Katie explained. “You learn how to make friends, how to be accountable, and how to grow into the kind of person who makes a difference.”

A Scholarship That Reflects Summit’s Core Values

The Conway family emphasized that the scholarship is more than financial support—it’s a reflection of Summit’s commitment to character education, community, and lifelong relationships. Cindy Conway noted, “The school does a great job teaching values like empathy, fairness, and acceptance. Those lessons stay with you.”

Katie’s own growth—from a shy student to a confident young adult studying design at Miami University—was nurtured by teachers who recognized her creativity and leadership early on. “They helped me discover my strengths,” she said. “And they cared enough to guide me.”

Looking Ahead: A Message to Future Scholars

As the scholarship prepares to welcome its first recipient in the 2025–2026 school year, Katie offers heartfelt advice: “Don’t be scared. Go out of your comfort zone. Make friends. The teachers and faculty are always there to support you. And if you’re a parent, know that you’ll find community here too.”

The Katie Conway Scholarship stands as a testament to the power of early education, the strength of family values, and the enduring impact of Summit’s Montessori program. It’s a gift of opportunity, rooted in love and hope—for every child who dreams of a Summit education but needs a helping hand to get there.

“We wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a name. It needed to be something that truly supported students in Katie’s name, something that would live on and make a difference.”

Volunteer Spotlight

Q & A with Molly Vollmer

QYou’ve worn many hats this year from planning One Night, All Knights, Development Committee member, Fall Festival volunteer, and more! What inspired you to say “yes” to being so involved?

A

Although I did not attend The Summit Country Day School, as a lifelong Cincinnatian, I was fortunate to know many people within the school community. Still, I sensed a disconnect when it came to integrating Montessori families into the broader Summit experience, as did many others. While reminiscing with my mother-in-law about the beloved tradition of the Summit Annual Party and fundraiser, I thought—why not bring it back.

As a full-time working parent, I knew I couldn’t be in the classroom every day or attend school-hour events. But I saw an opportunity to contribute in other ways—through my passion for connecting people and, let’s be honest, my love of fun! Helping to reignite this tradition has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time as a parent. I truly encourage all parents to lean in however they can. It’s an incredible way to feel more connected—not just to your children, but also to the inspiring teachers, faculty, and broader Summit community.

Q

As a busy and working mom of three boys and owner of Kirk’s Soap, how do you do it all? What keeps you motivated to stay so engaged?

A Every day brings a new challenge—and I thrive on that energy! I love staying busy and diving into passion projects, whether it’s for the school, my boys, my career, or our incredible city. I’m driven by the desire to leave a lasting legacy of good, and I know that takes dedication and hard work. Legacy is what fuels me in my career and for my family.

Q What has been your favorite volunteer moment this year at The Summit?

A One Night, All Knights Carline Takeover — Parents and kids dancing with coffee and signs in hand, fully embracing the joy (and humility!) of being a little silly. It’s become a beloved tradition—and it really works! My boys love parading around with their signs, cheering others on

to support the school. Watching their excitement as they helped raise awareness was pure joy… all in straw hats, just as Jimmy Buffett would do!

I also want to give a big shoutout to Mrs. Mary Kate Newton for her Garden for Good: Summit Gardeners project. The rooftop garden renovation is absolutely spectacular. I’ll take any excuse to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty! If you haven’t seen it yet, go check it out—it’s thriving thanks to the heart and hard work of our Summit kids, teachers and parent volunteers.

Q What do you hope your boys take away from seeing you so actively involved in the school community?

APhilanthropy and giving back were foundational to how I was raised. Children learn by example, and I truly believe they practice the art of following their parents’ lead. My parents and Grandmother were deeply involved in shaping the roots and core development of quiet philanthropy in our city—and it’s thriving today because of people like them. Whether it’s the school or a civic organization, it takes a village. So, show up when you can, and when you say yes—give it 110%. I know my boys are proud of my work and that means the world to me.

Q How has volunteering helped you connect with other parents and the broader Summit community?

A I love our Summit parents. It’s incredible to see how many show up—whether it’s in the classroom, coaching or cheering from the sidelines, at art shows, volunteer days,

Molly and Will SMS '00, Willy '33, Charlie '35 and Lach '38

or countless other events. We’re so lucky to be part of a community that surrounds our kids with love, support, and inspiration. It’s the kind of environment that helps them grow into future leaders—with heart and character. We’ve made lifelong friends here and continue to give back because of the positivity and connection this community brings.

QFrom planning Jimmy Buffet themed parent parties to blowing up balloons for Fall Festival, what advice would you give to another parent considering volunteering for the first time?

AMake the time if you can—it gives back in ways you’ll feel for years to come!

Best Bengals memory?

Hands down, my favorite Bengals moment was the 2022 Wild Card win over the Raiders—our first playoff victory in 31 years! On that freezing January night, Burrow threw two touchdowns, Money Mac nailed four field goals, and our Super Bowl dreams stayed alive.

We've been die-hard fans with our Section 235!

The Summit Parents Association has more than 100 parent volunteers who helped make the 2024-2025 school year a success.

We hosted many of our traditional events, including Kindergarten Field Day, Lower School Fun Day, Middle School Field Day, Middle School Monster Mash, the 8th Grade Graduation Party, the Homecoming Dinner, and the Senior Picnic. Our biggest event, the Fall Festival, was one of our most successful to date!

We supported our faculty and staff through programs like Helping Hands and the holiday breakfast, continued the annual Christmas Collection, and celebrated our faculty and staff with a week of themed days and special treats in the spring.

Volunteers in each division worked to build community through activities such as roller-skating parties, a playdate at Wonderland, and grade-level social events. We also hosted parent socials, Evereve shopping events, and helped support the One Knights Spring event.

Through the Caring Committee, the Naturalization Ceremony, and by helping chair the Summit SPA Day of Service, we found meaningful ways to give back to our community.

We send our thanks to all the parents who volunteered throughout the year to make it a success, and we look forward to your continued involvement in the 25-26 school year.

As Parent Ambassadors, we primarily support Upper School admission events and recruitment efforts. In addition to engaging prospective families, we are increasingly focused on enhancing outreach to current Middle School students and their families.

Parent Ambassadors play a key role in planning and executing major events such as Open House, Parent Preview Days, Friday Knight Lights, Last Look, and Decision Day. We also serve as a personal connection for prospective families— our volunteers make outreach calls to answer questions, share their experiences, and provide insight into the unique community and opportunities offered at The Summit.

The Parent Advancement Network (PAN) helps build community and support The Summit through outreach and engagement. Volunteers serve as ambassadors for The Summit Fund by connecting with families in each grade level. Volunteers reach out early in the school year to welcome families, share updates, answer questions, and invite participation in the Parent Participation Challenge.

The Parent Participation Challenge highlights the collective impact of parent giving and the importance of every gift, no matter the amount. The Summit Fund supports enhanced academic programming, competitive athletics, vibrant visual and performing arts, expanded financial aid, and ongoing faculty development. With the support of the PAN volunteers, last year saw an increase in both new donors and overall parent participation. We thank the parent community for their investment in our students, faculty, and mission. We look forward to connecting with you again this October during the Parent Participation Challenge!

“When parents come together to support The Summit, it strengthens our whole community. Every gift matters and helps create the best possible experience for our students.”
– Morgan Mulvihill Roberts

Throughout the 2024-25 school year, the Summit Boosters continued their support and promotion of the athletic pillar of The Summit mission. Our membership had another strong year with more than 100 families joining us in our support of Athletics.

As is our tradition, we kicked off the athletic year with our annual Booster Bash on August 17, 2024. It is our primary membership drive supplying funds to support our athletics program. It has become a truly all- school engagement with something for everyone. At the Bash, families cheered on our JV and varsity volleyball, soccer and football teams while enjoying food and drinks. The Village at The Summit Country Day School exists to provide support, guidance, and encouragement for students of African ancestry as they pursue excellence - individually and collectively - through each of the Five Pillars of the Summit experience. Rooted in the wisdom of the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” we are committed to building and nurturing a strong, connected community for students and families of African ancestry at The Summit.

Throughout the year, The Village brings families together through parent happy hours, faculty and staff socials, and spirited tailgates at athletic events - gatherings that have become beloved traditions within our community.

Alumni Advancement Network

The Alumni Board serves as a cornerstone for fostering strong connections between alumni, current students, faculty, and staff. This dedicated group of advisors is deeply invested in the school's success, continually inspiring others to make a tangible impact.

This year, the Board's efforts have been particularly innovative. We kicked off the fiscal year with our inaugural Alumni Athletic Games, bringing over 50 alumni back to campus to relive their athletic primes alongside current coaches and players. Demonstrating a commitment to supporting alumni ventures, the Board also initiated a successful collaboration with Northside Distilling Co., an alumni-owned business. This partnership provided a unique platform to engage our community, leading to well-attended events like the Thanksgiving Happy Hour and our Spring Happy Hour, which drew over 50 years of Summit alumni (1971-2021).
