G'day travellers, Peter Negri here, your resident adventure junkie and Director of ClubMatesTravel. Travel is back on in full swing and so are we... like never before!

We've been busy bees here at the office. We have expanded our team and stepped up our marketing and customer service efforts in order to bring our trips to as many people as we can because everyone needs a holiday... and mobility should never be a barrier.

We couldn't resist the temptation to showcase our Support Crew’s fashionable red polo shirts in every possible way, and now our website and marketing materials are a red-hot display of our quirkiness and love for adventure!

We have an enormous 64 new group tour itineraries for the year! For those wanderlust seekers, international borders are open so after a rather tranquil year for overseas trips in 2023, we are heading in full throttle. Whether you're a foodie, a history buff, a nature lover or a thrill-seeker like me, we have something for everyone.

OUR Story

At ClubMates Travel, we believe that travel is not just a journey, but a story waiting to be written. Our story began as a safari tour company with only three staff. However, over time, the founders saw the limitations that people with disabilities have to travel because of a lack of accessible travel vehicles. In response, they started to charter their bus out for group travel to people with disabilities. In 1988, they turned their focus completely to disability travel and OzMates was born.

In 2006, Peter Negri, our Director, bought and took over the company. Peter had a simple dream in his mind that he wanted to drive a bus and help others experience adventure. As the company grew nationally, Peter started to run fully accessible inclusive holidays by 2010. To accommodate our growing number of customers, Peter purchased a brand new accessible tour coach in 2012.

In 2013, Peter changed the company name to ClubMates and expanded to offer international trips. We are proud to say that we are now the leading disability travel company in Australia with more than 70 staff both in Australia and overseas.

At ClubMates, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to explore the world and create unforgettable memories, regardless of their physical abilities. MEALS

Included in the price of the trip are 3 main meals per day. Drinks and snacks are extra and are to be taken from your spending money. Our crew aim to provide healthy and balanced meals wherever we go and dietary requirements will be accounted for.

MEDICATION

All medication will be administered and double checked by our qualified Support Crew.

SUPPORT CREW

Our friendly support crew are a unique blend of travel guide mixed with disability support worker. They are trained to administer medication, assist with budgeting and if required provide more personalised care. They work hard, make sure all our passengers’ needs are catered for with dignity and respect. But above all, they make sure everyone has a lot of fun in the process!

TRANSPORT

Our tours involve flights, buses, trains and ships. We have a specialised accessible tour bus with wheelchair lift and trailer for mobility equipment. Each mode of transport is assessed for its reliability and accessibility before booking. If you have specific mobility needs, these must be discussed with our bookings team to ensure we can accommodate you.

Main meals

SPENDING MONEY

You will need to have some spending money to purchase drinks, snacks and souvenirs. You can choose to bring your own money to manage yourself, or it can be added to the holiday invoice and your Support Crew will have access to these funds to help you monitor your spending.

RATIOS

Our pricing is based on ratios of Support Crew to Passenger to ensure you receive the appropriate level of care and that we have enough staff on board to assist in a group setting. The ratios range from 1:5 for passengers with high independence and social skills who can travel in a group with 1 carer and up to 4 other passengers, up to 1:1 for passengers requiring complete personal assistance with one-on-one care. To determine what ratio might suit your needs, talk to our Holiday Consultants.

LUGGAGE

Passengers may take 2 items of luggage on tour: 1 large suitcase up to 20kg and 1 smaller item up to 7kg.

ACTIVITIES

We aim to complete every activity on our group itineraries unless there are circumstances preventing it such as weather. If there is something you do not wish to do on the itinerary or you would like to add an activity, please tell us at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is not necessary, but it is strongly advised to take it. We can arrange it for you and include it on your travel invoice.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

If travelling overseas or on a cruise, you will need a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining from the time of return. Our bookings team will organise any overseas visas required. For vaccination advice, please speak with your doctor regarding your destination well in advance of your departure date.

PHOTOS & VIDEOS

During your trip, our Support Crew will take photos and videos of you and your travel buddies. After your trip, you will receive an exclusive photo album, a collage of the best photos and a video to share with your loved ones via YouTube so you can remember your experience forever. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for all our holiday photos and videos.

CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS

If for some reason you need to change or cancel your trip, please phone our bookings team. Refer to the terms and conditions on our website for more details on cancellation cutoffs and fees.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is typically twin share unless a single room is requested. Rooms will be comfortable and well-located. Accessible rooms are available for passengers with mobility needs, these needs must be discussed with our team prior to booking to ensure we can book you the right type of room.

DEPARTURE CITY

Our holidays depart from all capital cities. If you don’t live close to the departure point of an itinerary, we can arrange flight transfers. If you need full support during the transfer, we can arrange one of our Support Crew to accompany you on the journey, or you can do the transfer unaccompanied and we can meet you at the agreed departure point and take you to meet the rest of the tour group.

FITNESS & ACTIVITY LEVEL

Passengers need to have a level of health and fitness that allows them to participate in the activities on the itinerary. However, one thing that makes us different is that we like to push boundaries. We will do everything to ensure our experiences can be accessed by as many people as possible. Discuss any health or mobility issues you may have with our Holiday Consultants prior to booking to ensure we book you an experience suitable for you.

In an individual trip, you get all the attention and support from your guide, without having to share them with anyone else. It’s like having a personal travel concierge at your service! What’s more, you will get the chance to meet them over a video call before the trip to ensure you feel comfortable with them.

Privacy and comfort:

Let’s face it, travelling with strangers can be a bit awkward. During an individual holiday, you can travel with your favourite people (or just yourself!) and enjoy the privacy and comfort of your own travel bubble. Your support person will be more like a travel buddy than a tour guide.

If you travel with us, you can be assured that you will receive consistent, high quality service that endures from the first phone call to the last leg of the holiday and beyond. Our friendly and knowledgeable customer service team is on standby to help take the usual hassle and stress out of booking a holiday.

Our team gets some details from you via phone or email, taking into account your needs and interests in order to help you choose the best possible holiday. If you have an NDIS plan, they can advise you on possible supports you can claim.

CONFIRM THE BOOKING

The team will send you a Quote. This will outline the full cost of the trip (including any applicable deductions for NDIS participants).

After accepting the quote, we send you an invoice.

You or your financial guardian pay a deposit of $1,000 plus Travel Insurance to confirm the booking.

Payment methods accepted: Direct Deposit, Credit Card, Cheque. Talk to us about interest-free payment plans with easy instalments.

You will receive a Booking Package with all the documentation and information you need.

BEFORE DEPARTURE

The remainder of the invoice is to be paid according to the due date located on the invoice. This can be 60, 90, 120 or 150 days before departure depending on the destination and transport to be booked.

1-4 weeks before departure you will receive a clothing list, meeting time and an updated itinerary along with the contact details of the tour leader.
