As the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi is an incomparable phenomenon. A visionary man endowed with the missionary qualities of unflinching commitment and exceptional competence, he rose from humble origins to become the guiding light of the world’s biggest democracy. As the Prime Minister since May 2014, he has taken several momentous decisions that have uplifted the common people. He has launched several outstanding welfare schemes. The control of corruption, the LPG subsidies given up by the rich to help the poor get the cooking gas connections, farmers’ lot improving and a significant surge in science and technology epitomized in India successfully sending its satellite to Mars are some of the bright spots of the Modi Government.

But, above all, Prime Minister Modi has brought in a new culture of sanitation with his flagship programme of Swachh Bharat and his historic resolve to make India Open-Defecation-Free by 2019. By galvanizing the nation on the issue of sanitation, he has resurrected the culture of cleanliness that was the hallmark of the Indus Valley Civilization, and for this, he will be gratefully remembered by posterity.
