Meet the LSAs

The Learning Support Team is made up of 14 Learning Support Assistants (LSA). All have associated faculties and individual specialisms. You may see them in your lessons helping the whole class, smaller groups or offering you some 1:1 support.

Meet the PPTs

Once you have enrolled, you will be assigned a Personal Progress Tutor (PPT). They will be your first point of call for you and your parent/carers for any help or support. They can be contacted via email, phone, or a visit to student services. You will meet with them for tutorials, and they will check on you throughout the year to make sure you are attending, happy and achieving.

Academic Support at One

1:1 In Class Support Direct support to ensure academic progression

Supervised Study: Purple Study Zone A quiet zone to enable some focused study. The zone is manned by a study skills advisor who is on hand to help

PPT Support

In Class Group Support For those who require interventions occasionally to ensure progression

Your first port of call for support if you or your parents have any queries

1:1 Out of class support

Supported Study: POD LSA manned area for 1:1 and small group study support

For targeted support, allowing for a focused environment.

Virtual Support

Our team will be online to support you through virtual lessons. They will also be able to arrange 1:1’s virtually to ensure you are happy with the content.

What do I do if I need more support when I start?

If you are worried before you start, please send us an email and we will do our best to support you. If you require a little more help and you have already started, please get in contact with your PPT who will arrange the correct support with us.

I need to use the lift; What do I do to make sure I have this?

Please contact the SEND team and we will happily arrange this for you.

I often feel overwhelmed and like to find somewhere quiet, is there somewhere I can go?

We have many break out quiet spaces around the college. Speak to your PPT and they can direct you to the nearest space, and will happily book this out for your regular use.

I need to use public transport but I’m not sure of the route I need to follow?

Our website has a link to find the best route you need. Should you need support in locating where the pick up point at college is, contact us and we will be happy to show you.

I have an EHCP. How do I know if you have this?

Suffolk County Council will usually pass this onto us, however we are always happy to accept copies of this. Please email or get in contact with us.

I would like a transition visit, is this possible?

We are currently unable to take external visitors onto our site due to the ongoing Covid 19 restrictions. Should you need a transition visit prior to you starting, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this as soon as we can. A virtual tour of the building can be taken through our website: https://suffolkone.ac.uk/static/virtual-tour/ I have medication to support my additional needs and will need to bring some with me to college. What do I do?

Please speak to your PPT on your first day. We have a store cupboard your medication can be held within.

I have a medical condition which may require medical attention.

Please get in contact, we can complete a medical procedures form to ensure we respond correctly should there be a medical emergency.

What can you do to help support your transition?

It is always a help if we get to know you, your support requirements and any help you will need with the transition before September, however with the current situation we are unable to meet and greet as we would normally like.

Please get in contact with the SEND Team:• If you would like to make us aware of any Special Educational Needs.

• If you have any concerns about your transition or the support you may require in September.

• If you have any documents you would like to pass onto us; such as Education Health and Care Plans, Medical care plans, Diagnosis Reports, proof of exam Access arrangements from High School.
