The following pages show examples of the weekly spellings taken from Year 5 Term 3 Set 1. They are available in print form, joined cursive and continuous cursive with a lead-in stroke, to help with handwriting. The National Curriculum has a greater focus on handwriting and highlights its importance by making the connection between a child’s handwriting and their composition and spelling ability.

Each weekly list has the spelling pattern displayed in the title and is clearly marked in each word. The differentiated set has fewer words from the Curriculum lists and also has space for individual spellings/key/tricky words.
