What HB 426 means

On June 26th, 2020, Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill that creates new protections for victims of biasmotivated crimes in Georgia. House Jason Swindle Bill 426 (HB 426) became law July 1st. The bill had overwhelming bi-partisan support. The full Senate approved the hate crimes bill with a 47-6 vote. The House then approved it 127-38. Every state currently has a hate crimes

by Prissi Sullivan The Carroll County Primary Election Runoff will be held Tuesday, August 11th, with early voting beginning Monday, July 20th and ending Friday, August 7th. This runoff will have two contested races: state court judge for the Coweta Judicial Circuit (a five county district which includes Carroll County) and state representative for District 18 (parts of Carroll and Haralson counties). The winner of the state court seat will become the next court judge. The winner of the state representative seat will go on to the November General Election and face the Democrat candidate Pat Rhudy, U.S. Census Bureau field representative.
