Creating statement curtains

indow dressings can be considered by some people as an afterthought in home decoration, but we believe that beautifully made and dressed curtains can make or break a room scheme.

Boldly coloured or patterned curtains should be the main focus of a room's decor, so keep the rest of the furnishings neutral to set them off. Plain curtains can create just as much of an impact, just make sure they are beautifully made and dressed well, and keep the overall scheme sympathetic to the curtain's simplicity. So don't cut corners when it comes to your curtains - they are certainly worth it!

Styling with cushions

ersatile and inexpensive, cushions are a great way of adding interest, texture and colour to any room scheme. They can be like beautiful little artworks for your home, adding personality to a room and bringing it to life. Cushions can also tie together a room’s colour scheme, and are a great way of making a space feel cohesive. The main thing is to have fun and experiment with your cushions - they can easily be moved into a different room or replaced if it's a step too far!

Sheer perfection

raditionally used for privacy, sheer fabrics are currently enjoying a resurgence as a great way to soften bright sunlight in glass-lled rooms without the heaviness of shutters or blinds. Opt for full length unlined voile curtains on a discreet track or pole, which will beautifully lter the light without making the room feel too gloomy. Choose a simple heading style, such as cartridge or wave, without too much fullness for a contemporary and stylish look.

Modern sheer fabrics have vastly improved on the net curtains of old, with subtle embroideries, hand dip dyes and bright prints with splashes of colour, which elevate the humble sheer to new heights.
