Island Report News, events, and happenings around Curaçao... New villas attract luxury network
The opening of Baoase’s exquisite new villa-style beachfront pool suites last April 2015 is what put the resort over the top for acceptance into the Virtuoso network, one of the leading luxury travel organizations in the world. To become a member, a property must offer ultra-exclusive, high-end experiences targeted at Virtuoso’s demanding and savvy clientele. The Baoase is a multiple award-winning 5-star resort, and the new suites replete with their own private beach add additional allure to its upscale offerings and pampering service. www.baoase.com Unique avant garde art installation
Called “The Cathedral of Thorns,” the massive architectural art monument made from thorns designed by Herman van Bergen at Landhuis Bloemhof will finally be open to the public this year after three years of construction. At the site there is also an Art Factory where underprivileged Curaçao youth can train in the arts while helping construct it. The cathedral will welcome Curaçao culture of all kinds, and host many special artistic exhibits and events. Follow their progress on their Facebook page for updates and activities: facebook.com/cathedralofthorns. Great music almost every month!
Beyond the famous annual Carnival that spans over late December to February, and the wildly popular Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival in September, there are other annual music events well worth seeking out. The new Curaçao International BlueSeas Festival in May is one of them, and so is Viva La Musica Latina in June. And the annual Paradise World music festival in December is now the blowout electronic fest of the year.
