Residence for Mr. Rohit in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Built for an I.T. employee, this residence is designed to cater to the needs of a Nuclear family. Our client wanted a house that has ample daylight and air circulation and has a blend of modern and traditional design typology that can efficiently cater needs of both, his old-age parents and his modern requirements. Therefore the design got distributed into two parts in terms of planning. The lower floor has an Aangan with a highly daylit room, open planning, and easy circulation for the old. Whereas the upper floor is completely dedicated to our client's dynamic nature and his new age requirements. Simple in design yet satisfactory for all ages was what defined our success in this project. The upper floor has certain elements of mystery, with a proposed bar and open gather space with a terrace Garden.
Architecture Office In Lucknow
The Building is located on a site getting views of a lake and surrounded by mixed structures of Residential and Commercial. The idea was to make the design a s Sustainable as possible, harnessing Natural Light, outdoor views and Evening Breeze. Along with that the design also aims to explore the vernacular character of the place with local Building techniques and fuse it with contemporary Architecture practice. Thus the concept of 'Minimal Indigeneity came forth.
The design in itself has been a journey, from discovering some of the contextual and vernacular Building techniques to meeting undermined local craftsmen. This design was an attempt, to infuse, explore and experiment with the local potential and historical significance of Architecture in a modern, urban setting.
From creating Mud Walls, Wooden Carvings, local carpentry to exploring rich Architecture elements Like Vaults and bunkers, this small office area follows a Sustainable Approach and challenges the notion of Time and Space, and compliments the inherency of its location. But alongside also complement the modern Philosophy of minimalism and simplicity in design. It was an experiential journey that took me to remote places and made me realize how Architecture can truly modulate the sense of space. The place is Sustainably designed and keeps itself naturally illuminated and passively cooled reducing the electricity bill by 4 folds
The project is designed for a young, creative, and talented photographer settled in Barabanki. The owner of the house wanted a design that stands out of the ordinary, is unique, and is one of its kind in Barabanki. Alongside that he wanted the interior as well as the exterior spaces to fell luxurious without compromising with safety.
Since the longer side faces the road, therefore it gave us an opportunity the explore the design differently. The building is design with an angular layout that attracts the eye of the passerby and flaunts itself by the virtue of its layout. The cantilever designed is unorthodox and dominated its surroundings with its monumental scale. It is visible from a long distance making the house design appeal to anyone who enters the society.
The design also follows a sustainable approach with openings and perforations are designed in such a way that it catches the wind as it passively get cooled but Greenery and waterbodies present on their site. The design also aims to minimize the electricity used within its premises. The design promotes good sir circulation and high diffuse daylight ingress, reducing the load on consumed electricity.
The residence build for a family of 4 takes is their first phase of degradation. The residential site of Size 29' x 35' is surrounded by buildings on all 4 sides, with just an 8' opening left for its entrance through a road 60' deep. This challenging site required an unorthodox solution that not only provide ease and comfort to its inhabitants but also appeals to the surrounding built-ups.
The design takes its inspiration from Islam and creates an Iwan like structure that only resonates with the faith of the owner but also blends with their rich cultural past.
This house is proposed to be an office space in the future and their new residence is proposed and is under its design stage, having ground coverage of 1800 square feet's, next to this ongoing residence.
The Residence, though small in size, stands out from the surrounding structures, compliments the past, have a modern contemporary design appeal and yet follows a sustainable development with features like Rainwater Harvesting and Solar Panels, and each space being properly daylit and naturally ventilated.
2. Mr. Bilaal’s Residence
Built Up: 1800 square feet
The project which is a farmhouse for an elite doctor in Barabanki is proposed in his farmland away from the hustle bustle of the city. The Ground floor houses a multifunctional hall with necessary services aligned to it for moderate gathering. The first floor is a personalized space with a Terrace garden and private suites.
The idea is to harmonize this new construction with the existing natural landscape. The new footprint of the building overlaps with the crumbling old structure to minimize disturbance to the surrounding vegetation. The design molds itself around 2 existing trees with a height of more than 30 feet to conserve it and fuse it with the builtup rather than directly eliminating it.
The lower storey is all in white which not only makes it visible from far off but also lets the greens of the surrounding environment dominate it. Whereas the first floor follows a more rustic approach with exposed brick structures and a vaulted corridor. The idea was to use mud burnt bricks so its red can harmonize with the greens of Nature around it and can smuggle itself into the existing landscape.
